Freaked Out
Yes, critically it failed. Financially? VERY far from it. There's a lot of crap movies that are not considered failures simply because of how much $$$ they made.
Bub, critically it was a failure. Plus, even Michael Bay and Shia LeBouf stated that they could have done better and alot of the problems were from the writing strike. Having the main human star and director state that the film wasn't the best should tell you something.
But then again, this is probably the only Transformers you know, so this probably looks great to you. Don't you have some customizers to whine about?
No, i can just accept change and not take a simple movie about giant robots so seriously and just enjoy it for what it is, and not dilude myself into thinking g1 is the be all end all of the franchise and everything should pay homage to it.
And no one cares about what critics think, the movies are a massive worldwide success. End of.
Nah. They're only a success financially, it doesn't mean they're good. But if you yourself claim to not take these things seriously, then your opinion doesn't really count much. How can you really judge good or bad, when you don't even have an invested interest?
Oh, I forgot... you're invested with the flavor-of-the-month custom.
as long as hotrod is the same size/height as MP starscream in robot mode and is G1 cartoon accurate then its what ive been waiting for along with MP galvatron! need to get my hands on that toyrus grimlock too!

First of all, this is a separate masterpiece line from your precious G1 masterpiece series, so don't worry about it. Secondly, I'm sure if you asked the makers of the G1 cartoons to critique their work, they would also say they could have done better. Does that mean they should have stopped making G1 figures 30 years ago?Bub, critically it was a failure. Lastly, there's a special thread just for control-freak Transformers purists like yourself.
Why can't there be both in the MP line?
It just seems like a pathetic attempt by TakTomy to cash in on a new mold. Look at BW Dinobot. He just got in the TF Hall of Fame, so where's his MP? Where's any of the characters from G2 or the Cybertron line or Beast Wars?
Hasbro/TakTomy just made this mold and this is just another way they're cashing in on it. Just like the Henkei line did with the Classics/Universe line. Except this time, I'm sure they'll be asking alot more for a mold that's released in the US for Leader Class pricing, just because it's under the MP banner.
Also, id like to say that the comics that are based on the bayverse are pretty good.
Masterpiece Grimlock was MP-08. Masterpiece Movie Starscream is MP-M01. Note how Masterpiece Starscream is not MP-09. That's because it's a separate masterpiece series, specifically for movie figures.Nope, wrong again. These guys are still labeled as MPs, even with the MP packaging, so they're still part of the same series. Man, get a clue or try reading. It's even a picture, so you should be able to understand that.
You'd like to dictate what can and cannot have a masterpiece series, which is as absurd as trying to tell Hot Toys they can put Batman figures in their Movie Masterpiece series, but not Blade figures (as an example). And again, since you seem to be lost, allow me to direct you to a thread created specifically for people who share your point of view. Right now you're in the thread where we don't get all in a huff when a figure or series isn't G1 verbatim. As for "control-freak", you don't have a point. I made a statement about what I would prefer - that doesn't control anything.
Precisely. For anyone interested, I put this comparison together to show how they stack up:I didn't see people complaining about Buster Prime's cost. This figure is the same as that: a premium version of a leader class figure, it even costs the same. Only now they're actually labelling it as a Masterpiece, and if it's even half as good as Buster Prime, it will be a label well deserved.
