I'm not too worried about Has/Tak legalities. The way I see it, they let all these 3rd party companies set up booths in their own convention, so as long as no trademarked names or logos appear, they'll let us "adult collectors" enjoy these pieces

Although it'll always be a nagging doubt perpetuated by the Has/Tak apologists I think it's unlikely any action will be taken as no 3rd party comes even close to affecting Has/Tak's yearly profits and that's really the bottom line.

iGear didn't win many friends with the way they went about their initial few releases but the recent new molds they've shown signify a positive change of direction and if all goes well with the QC then G1 fans will be getting the line that Classics should have been from the beginning.

exactly. I've always let lawyers worry about law scenario's and just enjoy whatever kick ass figures are able to come out.

Too bad more people can't take that attitude......haters gotta hate I suppose.

EDIT
TFC Exgrave ( Scavenger ) is apparently out next month for $77.90 plus shipping at RobotKingdom.

Let the pre-order mayhem commence!

There's shades of Generations Warpath in the design but quite honestly who cares.....it's f'ing Impactor!

Wreck' N Rule!

Holy ____. None of the iGear products before really did it for me, but this is really, really, REALLY nice. Pretty much spot on perfect. If all their Wrecker figures will have this level of quality...

EDIT: And I wish they would switch to either hands with closed fists or articulated ones. The open hands for Ironhide/Ratchet and now Impactor look a bit daft.

Articulated would be nice but would probably stick the price up a bit more......it looks like I'll be selling body parts to get all this 3rd party stuff as it is :lol

Incidentally is Last Stand of The Wreckers available as a TPB?

Yup, it was released as a TPB with bonus content, like a prequel short story. Worth checking out, though I recommend reading the short story after the rest, since it could spoil some things of the main plot.

The way they're going iGear will either wake the sleeping giant that is Has/Tak's legal department and it'll all go to hell or they'll make the best G1 themed line ever.....hopefully it'll be the latter.

That's what I worry about - but all these companies are based in China, correct? So as long as China's copyright laws remain lax, we shouldn't have to worry.

Even so, I wonder how much ground they'd have. Only the actual names of the characters are trademarked, aren't they? The likenesses are all over the place, so it might be a hard case.

Unlike the Classics they're staying as close to the G1 cartoon aesthetic & scale as possible as well as mixing in elements of the IDW art and if the first 4 new molds live up to the promise of the protos they'll be the best toys each character has ever got.

Yeah, can't wait.

True enough.

So I ended up ordering a bunch more TFs the other day. Henkei Hound and United Tracks, Bumblebee and Grapple. I know you guys recommended RTS but I'm a little worried about finding him at retail, and a quick look on Ebay revealed prices at about the same level as the United one anyway (and not many figures, either). I kind of like the yellow head on the guy, so I just went with it.

Also won a MISB Prowl, and preordered Universe Wheeljack on BBTS (along with Warpath and Thundercracker in a set). So now I just need Henkei Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, Inferno, Red Alert and Smokescreen, and Universe Sideswipe... I'd also like Hot Rod, but I'm not sure which version... I'll probably be fine with the RTS 2-pack version. The Henkei looks nice but I'm hearing problems with the paint and chrome, which scares me for a figure that seems to be commanding really high prices... The RTS version looks cartoon accurate, anyway...

Ra88,
Thanks for the info, I think I'll be getting that soon so I can see the characters in action before I get the inevitable toys from iGear.

DPrime,
Congrats on the new buys and pre-orders. As far as Hot Rod goes I've had no issues with the chrome on the Henkei although I don't tend to mess around with my figures too much.......it's currently in Rodimus mode with the FP Protector armor on.

The mold is a bit dated compared to more recent Classics and it's not really worth paying out for the Henkei so the RTS is a good alternative as it's got the cartoon look and you also get a great version of Cyclonus and a Matrix in the same set.

Like I mentioned a couple of posts or so back, the only time Hasbro will do anything is if 3rd party sales make a heavy dent in their profits which is extremely unlikely to happen for varying reasons.

I'm sure in their time Hasbro have stolen their share of ideas from other companies so they're probably content to let the 3rd parties create their own little niche because it doesn't affect any of their main retail markets.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Maybe once I get the core figures I want, I'll try and hunt down a Henkei Rodimus. You're not the first person to say he's dated - he looks great to me...

At any rate, if I find the two-pack at retail when I go home, I'll pick it up, if only for a stand-in.

looks like robot kingdom already sold out of scrapper. poopy. i'll just keep waiting for BBTS, and TFsource.

Wow, crazy. Did they end up showing pics yet? I haven't even seen this guy...

I've heard about this Impactor guy recently here and there, but don't recognize him at all from the cartoons or toys. No interest here.

Yeah, I'm kind of with you. I guess I'm just not THAT big of a TF fan to care much. I'm more of a casual, core G1 type of guy.

I mean, I'm still debating whether or not I can justify the iGear Conehead Seekers and Arcee - and those would take priority over this guy, cool as he looks.

don't get the igear arcee yet. at botcon Hasbro hinted at one in the generations line later this year during a QnA. I'd hold off and see how it comes out first.

if its ass, Igear will likely still have them get it then. if not, cheap arcee.

also.. got to ask... am i the only one noticing some simularitites between Impactor and warpath?

DPrime,
There's a picture of Scavenger in this thread,

https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tran...c-project-deva-reflector-pics-awesome-42.html

The articulation looks good, only questions left for me are whether the plastic is good and Kapow Toys are able to stick to the £50-£55 pricepoint they've said.

lerath666,
Although it's now some way down my list because of other 3rd party releases iGear's Arcee is still the one I'll be getting because I don't trust Hasbro to make one that looks anything like the G1 animation model or failing that the CGI model from the War For Cybertron game.

There are elements of the Generations Warpath design in Impactor but I just think it's nitpicking because it's not an official release and wish people would focus on the positives for a change.

Spiderwebb13,
There was apparently some vague statement that Generations isn't done yet but no actual new stuff shown.

The likely candidates for the next "new" releases will be repaints of the following molds with new headsculpts,

Thunderwing
Scourge
Kup
Perceptor
Warpath
Wreck-Gar

The new headsculpts for each have already been seen in the instruction sheets on the original releases.

Meh, they did fine with animated arcee. heck, with a repaint and a headswap, animated arcee makes a pretty good generations arcee.

as for the recycling of warpath: don't get me wrong, i could'tn
t care less that it's a re-mold. I just wanted to know if i was the only one seeing it.
still going to buy if the price is right.

Was hoping for some new molds if they continued the line. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

As much as I love a good custom upgrade set I think that particular one looks awful. Animated Arcee is OK with Animated toys and that's it.

Even if I liked it buying an Animated Arcee off ebay ( it never got a UK release ) plus the price of that kit and paying someone to do the repaint would probably make the overall cost around the same or probably more than the iGear one.

If the Generations one actually happens a UK release is never guaranteed so if I'm paying out for an import I'd sooner get the one that looks exactly like I want the character to look, the Generations one may be a suprise and be very close to the G1 design but the pattern of reimagning robot and alt modes over the various incarnations of the Classics suggests otherwise.

No worries on the Warpath thing, I wasn't really having a dig at you so sorry if I came across that way, it's just that every 3rd party thread on forums like TFW are dominated with morons going on and on about "glorified KO's" "stolen IP's" and the like and it seems like people are more concerned with the legalities or origins of the molds instead of enjoying the fact there's some great new TF's being made that we'd never get officially.

TFC's Scrapper is up for preorder on BBTS.

I'm waiting for Kapow Toys as they're UK based so I'll save a fair bit on shipping.

Apparently each Constructicon will be released every 2 months which means if the price of £50-£55 that Kapow have already quoted stays the same I'll be able to get them as well as having some spare cash towards the various iGear stuff :yess:
