don't get the igear arcee yet. at botcon Hasbro hinted at one in the generations line later this year during a QnA. I'd hold off and see how it comes out first.

if its ass, Igear will likely still have them get it then. if not, cheap arcee.

Ah good to know. Still, Generations seems to be very hit or miss. It'll be nice to know there's another option if she doesn't turn out very G1ish.

DPrime,
There's a picture of Scavenger in this thread,

https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tran...c-project-deva-reflector-pics-awesome-42.html

The articulation looks good, only questions left for me are whether the plastic is good and Kapow Toys are able to stick to the £50-£55 pricepoint they've said.

Hmm, weird pic.

Looks nice to me. Size might be an issue though. People in that thread are saying Dev will be about 12" tall? I was thinking it'd be a bit bigger than that...

As much as I love a good custom upgrade set I think that particular one looks awful. Animated Arcee is OK with Animated toys and that's it.

Yeah, I have to agree. I mean, maybe not AWFUL, but in no way a substitute for a G1 style Classic.

... it's just that every 3rd party thread on forums like TFW are dominated with morons going on and on about "glorified KO's" "stolen IP's" and the like and it seems like people are more concerned with the legalities or origins of the molds instead of enjoying the fact there's some great new TF's being made that we'd never get officially.

Yeah, it's a bit perplexing to me. Third party stuff just makes the hobby that much richer, if you ask me... :dunno

Oh well, their loss. If they're happy with mass produced crap movie designs, doesn't bother me none! :)

For nearly $100? No thanks.

That's pretty much what they're all going to cost, isn't it?

Makes for an expensive Devastator, that's for sure... I don't know. I think I need more pics (including comparison pics with G1 toys and IDW comic characters) and more info...

I mean, certainly I can swing $100 figures or I wouldn't be a member here, but I can only buy so many of them!

I read somewhere they would be closer to $80, which is high, but something I would consider. Not $100. That's half a Hot Toys figure (well, I guess $80 is half of some HT figures, now that I think about it :D )!

I definitely need to see some better pics before getting this one. I hope some of the others are a little cheaper, but if not then I dont know if I'm willing to pay $600 for Devastator.

Good points

Each Constructicon will apparently be the size of a small-ish Deluxe and have 3 modes ( robot, vehicle & Devastator limb ). So it'll be bigger than any official combiner.

Little to no parts-forming is required for the Devastator mode.

It's an original set of molds.

It's not made by Hasbro so it'll be without any lame gimmicks such as electronics.

Bad points

Price isn't cheap but is comparable with other 3rd party releases.

If you decide to wait for a review of the whole thing secondary market prices will be insane.

you forgot the 3rd bad point.

i've heard TFC stuff can be pretty crappy QC-wise...

but even then, i'm going to chance it.
BBTS is pretty good about exchanges on broken stuff, so i should be ok if i get a bad one. so, one every 2 months? I THINK i can swing that.

unrelated note, since Igear is making impactor... wonder if they're going to do an IDW overlord....

that's what sucks. BBTS has them for just under $100 so I feel like I'm taking a gamble getting these guys and will have my breathe held until I have all 6 of them in a year:pray:

I understand that there are going to be higher costs with these companies engineering their own new figures. But like I think I posted previously--if I was gonna pay that much for a Devastator, he would have to be 99% G1 cartoon accurate. And this figure doesn't look to be turning out that way.

I'm sure it will still be an impressive figure, for sure. But I don't think I'll feel any regret over not paying $600 for him. I paid a lot for Rainman's dude, and that's probably the only bat-____, ridiculously over-priced figure I feel like going after anytime soon :D

Yep, if I've learned anything collecting Hot Toys and TF third party items it's "you snooze, you lose".

Still as much as I want "Not Devy" I am starting to worry about price. I'll probably go up to £60 but beyond that I might be out :(

I Love my Crazy Devy upgrades and if needed will console myself with IGear Impactor and Mini Bots :yess:

All very good points, and I definitely dont want to try and get these on the secondary market. A couple decent pics of this would help.

I actually like the individual Constructicons more than Devastator himself. This company somehow seems to have a much better understanding of what G1 style is all about than does Hasbro and Takara.

As for size, how big is Unicron, anyway?

Thanks.

I like the name "Dr. Crank." Sounds like a rapper from the early 1990s. Or maybe a gimmicky comedian from the same period who only does mock crank calls.
