Gonna have to give this show a chance... I watched the premiere and thought it was pretty good, but I haven't had the time to watch the rest yet...

I'd say give it a chance, it's gotten a LOT better than the 5 part miniseries.

Yeah, supposedly it is coming with the 2nd bot, but you can also get one through their Facebook page, I think?

ORLY?

I disagree, I think it brings out the detail nicely in this case.

Granted, I don't want the price to go up. I still think we should have a few extras included, though.

Very nice - now, this is included with the second Herc-bot, correct? (I forget his name...)

Fair enough on Starscream, had I been able to get it at the same price as US retail I perhaps would have been more open to overlooking certain things but it never got a retail release here and the cheapest I ever saw it on ebay was £50 ( just under $80 ).

Skywarp did get a UK release and I had it for a while but traded it in for something else I wanted more as I was happy enough with the Deluxes as my main Seekers.

Since then things have changed and I'm replacing all the Deluxes with the MP scale and iGear's make more sense from a financial POV....for the price some ebay sellers are asking for Takara's Thundercracker I could get at least 2 iGear Seekers or in some cases 3 AND have cash towards Dirge or Sunstorm left over.

After recieving Thrust I know the quality of the plastics, joints and paint apps are identical to official versions of the mold so paying out more just for official packaging and branding would be crazy.

The new shovel arm for Scavenger can either be ordered as a replacement via iGear's Twitter page and will also be included with Long Haul which is due to ship this month! :yess:

I haven't recieved Wheelie yet but the early reports are....intresting.

Quality wise there doesn't seem to be any major issues with the materials it's made from....there's the usual risk of paint chipping with diecast but that's par for the course.

The big downer is that scale is way bigger than it should be and it doesn't fit with the Classics and can't sit on the back of MP Grimlock as his thigh articulation is lacking which is more a fault of the original Jizaitoys design.

So on the one hand, it sucks but the robot mode is still about as cartoon perfect as it's possible to get and I think I'll keep mine and display him with Alternity Bumblebee & Cliffjumper.

Powerglide being scaled up makes more sense as really he should be a similar kind of size to the MP F-15 mold but Deluxe would work from the perspective that other Minibots such as Bumblebee & Cliffjumper have been upgraded to Deluxes in the Classics line.

Somebody else is recreating the Jizaitoys Wheelie & Powerglide in the exact same scale as the originals so I may end up getting that one as well....then there's also the possibility of the iGear and PerfectEffect ones....that's a whole lotta Wheelie!

Well, Wheelie sucks a big one anyway, so no big loss there IMO :D

His IDW Spotlight story is one of the best of the entire series and I take his character from that.

He's a character that it's "cool" to hate online but older fans seem to forget that he was created for the amusement of young kids and in that sense he worked fine.

Of course he's annoying but no moreso than the plucky underdog Bumblebee, dumbass Dinobots or Rodimus Whine....kids identify with that sort of stuff.

Not that it was all bad....Cliffjumper's habit of pulling ridiculously big guns from nowhere and accusing pretty much everyone of being a traitor was always good for a laugh :lol

I also like how Astrotrain changed size in the original Movie as he went from a big robot, to a normal sized steam locomotive to a Space Shuttle that was big enough for Devastator to stand in! :lol

I don't know what is "cool" or "uncool" online, but I think you're way off base. Even as a small kid I realized how annoying and ____ty he was as a character. Comparing him to Bumblebee and Grimlock is blasphemy!

Yeah, Hot Rod also sucks though.

In fact, thinking back, I can't remember a single friend who liked Wheelie. He was annoying like a gnat. Maybe kids in the UK were entertained by him?

Grimlock is my favorite Transformer character but only because of his Masterpiece toy and how he's portrayed in some of the comics.

In the G1 cartoon the Dinobots were initially fearsome but were eventually turned into the same sort of "lovable oaf" type of characters that Bulkhead is in Animated.

As far as Wheelie goes most UK kids would only have seen him in the Movie at the time as I don't think series 3 & 4 were ever shown here so maybe the annoyance factor didn't kick in like it did in the USA.

Wheelie is like the Transformers equivalent of Jar Jar and it's not difficult to see evidence of both characters getting more than their share of flak on pretty much every fansite.

I don't think they are anywhere near being decent characters onscreen but I also think that a lot of the venom they seem to provoke in fans is pretty hilarious.

I never really hated Wheelie, for whatever reason, and he's grown on me since. The way their minibots are turning out, I'll be glad to have the iGear version, I think.

I always liked Hot Rod as well. Rodimus, not so much, but Hot Rod's a great character, imo. Grimlock was always great, even at his most stupid... :)

I really hope Igear does some more Autobots in cartoon style.I want Sideswipe and Sunstreaker etc ......Does anyone know if they plan on doing more than just Iron Hide and Ratchet??

I think they said they plan on doing, like, every Transformer from the early years at some point :lol

We'll see. As for Wheelie, I understand what Hasbro et al. were trying to do with him, but they failed for me. Bumblebee was the character kids could relate to--the equivalent of Robin in the Transformers world. He was naive, made lots of mistakes, related to the humans a bit better than the others, etc. Wheelie acted like he was pure id, talked with that annoying, grating, rhyming voice, and that was about it. I guess I see Bumblebee as having heart, and Grimlock as being a lovable goof, while seeing Wheelie as an unnecessary annoyance. I don't know for sure if that's why I felt that way toward those respective characters as a child, but I suspect that had something to do with it. There's plenty of revisionism to go around with franchises like these, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone recently came in and made the character more appealing, but as he appeared in the cartoons, he just wasn't.

With the attention spans and attitudes kids have nowadays, I can see them better relating to Wheelie than they could in the "good old days" of my generation, though. :lol A character like Bumblebee probably would've been booed off the figurative stage in lieu of some hyped up spaz of a character.

teemu.
iGear's plan is meant to be all the '84 cast plus a few others.

So far they've released or are about to release,

Optimus Prime
Ultra Magnus ( just a white repaint of Prime )
The Seekers
The Coneheads
The Rainmakers ( 3 generic Seekers from one specific G1 story that were never named officially. )
Arcee

Out in December,
Ironhide
Ratchet
Seaspray
Huffer

Also confirmed are,
Bumblebee with VW Beetle alt mode
Cliffjumper with Porsche 924 alt mode
Impactor as seen in the Marvel G1 comics and the recent IDW story "Last Stand of the Wreckers".

Headsculpts for the following Wreckers have been shown,
Guzzle
Ironfist
Pyro
Rotorstorm

The following Minibots have also been hinted at,

Brawn
Beachcomber
Pipes
Powerglide
Wheelie
Cosmos

A scaled down version of Masterpiece Megatron was also shown months back but there's been no news on that for quite some time so it's present status is unknown.

Are you completely caught up on the show Craw? It's getting pretty intense as the season comes to a close.

i think i'm all caught up. i just watch them online. i always forget to watch them on TV. the last episode i saw was the one with the synthetic energon formula. i assume that is the latest one.

and Wheelie sucks. so does Blurr and Rodimus. i hated the season 3 transition back in the 80's. i think i stopped watching TFs at that time cuz i rewatched some of those episodes and i can't remember any of them. Rodimus was a horrible leader. he lacked charisma and a decent voice. Blurr and Wheelie were and still are annoying as hell.

Did they say the entire '84 cast or all the '84 cars? I can't remember.

Pretty important difference, because I'm not sure I want to pick up that MP Soundwave the other company is making if iGear plans on doing one, too.

Anyway, teemu, you might want to consider picking up some of the Classics/Henkei figures as well. Quite a few of them resemble the G1 characters almost exactly. The car modes are usually a bit different (e.g. Sunstreaker is a newer Lamborghini model rather than a Countache) but the bot modes are great.

I've got my iGear Faith Leader (Prime) displayed with MP Grimlock, Henkei Prowl and Hound, and United Jazz and Bumblebee, and they all look great together!

To be honest I'm not 100% sure, there's been no actual statement from iGear regarding future plans....that guy fabexmax at TFW is the source of virtually all the new info regarding iGear and he hinted that a lot of '84 characters were planned.

Bumblebee & Cliffjumper are probably going to be the next '84 characters but Impactor was meant to be out in the 4th quarter of this year as well.

Oh right, that's true.

Well, here's hoping. That third party Soundwave proto looks great, but I think it's just going to hold G1 cassettes, correct?

I'd rather see new molds for them, too, if at all possible...

So far it's just the G1 tapes, but the way things are with 3rd parties I wouldn't rule out new molds either....I'd hope they were better than the Ravage that came with Hound though.

yes. i like the show. i like that it is darker than previous TF cartoons and that they have those throwaway Vehicons for the autobots to actually kill in the episodes. and i'm waiting patiently for the toy line to hit shelves. i'll definately be picking up most of the main characters. it'll be my springboard back into TF collecting.

When are the Prime toys being released?

Looks sharp Dubba! :rock

Thanks.
