I had one of those for a while and aside from looking slightly crappy in truck cab mode I think it was a nicely designed piece especially the trailer.

Too bad there wasn't a Megatron to go with it as they'd have been a great set to display.

It's more about how the articulation works, IMO. MP01 could hardly take advantage of those hip and knee joints due to his heavy, diecast lower legs.
Likewise the fingers on mine could never get a firm grip on his gun. It was always wobbly because of his loose fingers.

But I was honestly never that thrilled with MP01. I always found him to be too heavy and cumbersome to get any really good poses. I like what I see so far from MP10.

i can agree with you on mp-01...

though...
Faith Leader from igear addresses those weight issues and allows for some fantastic poses.. and is better at holding his gun :lol

Faith Leader is cool. But I think MP Rodimus is cooler, and he makes FL look like a midget. I'm not uptight about scale - I specifically remember seeing Megatron transform for the first time and thinking Oh, so that's how it's gonna be - but I want my leaders to be relatively similar in size.

However, the individual reconciling of TF scale is a deeply personal process for each collector. I acknowledge and accept that Hot Rod should be shorter. But when I go into my cave and consult my spirit animal, we're cool with it.

LOL fair enough. I saw Roddy for the first time in person today at my local toys r us.. and passed. He does look AWESOME, but he's just too damned big for me.

I'll stick with fansproject protector for my hotrod.

Found these and more on seibertron.com

LOL

You will all agree with me on the scale issue, or you will be cast into the fiery pits of Go-Bot fandom for all of eternity!!

Finally scored a Leader Ironhide at Target today, only one I've seen anywhere since before the movie came out - and thanks to their Transformers markdowns this week, I got it five bucks cheaper than normal. Bring on Blackout!

On the MP-10, i hate the silver stripes down the forearms and the clear yellow bits on the waist, something looks just cheap about it and then sometimes it looks ok..should have made the thighs molded in white instead of grey, maybe add some slight dirt weathering effect around the legs.

Congrats! Ironhide is an awesome figure besides the funny looking blue legs.

imagine the glory that would be a "TO-SCALE" unicron?

Also , remember what GLADOS said
" Robot hell is a real place and I will send you there"

Here's what TFwiki have to say about Unicron's scale,

Planets and planetbots

If we're generous and assume Cybertron is only the size of Earth's moon, then the larger visible buildings are roughly the size of Massachusetts stood on end, and you could wedge France into that gash. (Which would probably improve both Cybertron and France.)

Scale when it comes to planets is so fraught it's painful. The problems of describing citybots as "cities" is a thousand times worse if Unicron is supposed to have a planet alternate mode, and Cybertron is in turn supposed to be of similar size. Though different stories have compared Cybertron/Primus and Unicron to drastically different real planets, the fact remains that they are planets, and yet are shown in such insane scale to characters as to suggest they are the size of a very small moon (or space station).

To start with, Cybertron was shown throughout Generation 1 with buildings visible from space. Although this was intended to show that the planet was technological in nature, it makes little sense, as the structures would have to be the size of small nations to be visible. If the buildings were in fact supposed to be skyscrapers (or even 2000 A.D.-style arcologies) sized for 10 m (30') robots, Cybertron would still be less than 150km (100 miles) across. The rather Coruscant-like shots of Cybertron in Beast Machines may be less distinctive or "Cybertronian", but are far more believable. (Some people reason that the Transformers' advanced technology, along with their large size and their not needing to breathe, means that buildings actually CAN be that big.)

Unicron is a more extreme problem. Assuming no size changing occurs during his transformation (and really, what possible reason would he have to become smaller?), in robot mode he would be so massive that any shot featuring a recognizable part of his body, let alone the whole thing, would be on a scale such that no normal Transformer would even be visible.

Scenes in the 1986 movie in which he directly interacts with normal Cybertronians are blatantly absurd (though totally phat-looking).

Shots such as the Dinobots fleeing his grasping hand, a starship penetrating his eye, impaling Brainstorm on his fingernail, On the Edge of Extinction! or especially him picking up Galvatron between his fingers before swallowing him, break any concept of "planetary" scale. Not to mention that he's described as a "ginormous weird-lookin' planet," which would lead one to assume that he is significantly larger than your average-sized weird-lookin' planet. Thank you, Jazz. Thank you so much.

If Cybertron is the size of Earth's moon (and that's generous), and Unicron is about the size of Cybertron, his hands would be about the size of Europe and Galvatron would be about the size of Denmark.

There is no explanation for any of this. Just go with it.

The depiction of Unicron's scale in Armada was (debatably) a slight improvement, in that physical interaction with normal beings was not attempted. He preferred instead to communicate with normal Transformers by possessing one of them. Sideways nevertheless, shots featuring Thrust and Megatron standing on his neck are still farcically out of scale.

As a side note, Unicron has been established in some continuities as having already devoured approximately 22.56% of known universes which is truly hilarious if one takes actual planetary/galactic scale into consideration. Assuming that Unicron is generously close to the size of our moon or the planet Mercury, when compared to other stellar bodies he begins to show up as an all but invisible speck. Imagine him trying to devour a star the size of Betelgeuse!

A correctly scaled toy woud need a HELL of a box to put it in! :lol

Hey guys I need to order some faction emblems from reprolabels, but I never have ordered from them before. Is there a specific size to order? I need them for deluxe sized figures.

^^^ lol, thanks for the above. Very entertaining reading!

I do wonder though if Hasbro is gonna make an honest effort to keep the newer MPs in the same scale. Rodimus and MP10 are roughly the same scale, right? If they do another Megs, another Starscream, a Sounwave, etc. that only really fit in scale with those guys, then I would probably like to have this figure to keep on display with them (just not with Classics figures, or some of the other 3rd party stuff coming out).

Meh... I can only really afford to have one scale/display, both in terms of money and space. In fact, I really should try and sell off my 20th Prime when I think about it... Faith Leader should be enough for me.

If Takara's FINALLY going for a consistent scale, it's kind of a too little, too late situation for me, unless they make an effort to make their stuff in scale with Grimlock and the Seekers. Who knows? Maybe some of it will work okay. I really only care that Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Shockwave and the Seekers are all about the same height, with Grimlock (and I guess the rest of the Dinobots if we ever see them) a bit bigger. I think most of the characters I'd be interested would vary in size, but generally be smaller than the ones I mentioned above - as long as they "look right", I'm not too fussy. I suppose if we get something like "Masterpiece Sixshot" or whatever and it's a bit out of scale, I might pick it up, but I want all the main guys to look right together, at least.

But we'll never get "MP" Jazz, Bumblebee, etc so I'm happy to stick with the MP Seeker/Grimlock/Faith Leader scale, since iGear's moving toward the smaller Autobots with Ironhide, Ratchet, and hopefully the other season one characters. Even if they don't, I'd be happy with most CHUG versions. They look great with the smaller MPs.

Jetfire should be as large/ larger than Grimlock.
Grimlock should be bigger than Prime
Prime should be bigger than Ironhide/ ratchet and Rodimus
Those three should be bigger than just about everyone else.

Someone should try and do Jetfire... man, that's a PERFECT project for iGear or some other company.

also, speaking of Prime, I no longer am interested in MP-10, unless he gets a TRU ex release for 50$.

The reason why? these comparison pictures with MP-01.

reduced articulation does not a better figure make.

Terrible! That seam line is ugly, too.

LOL

lol, the idea of third-party Go-Bot figures has been in my head for a while... I'd love a super-articulated, accurate Leader-1... I really liked that lifting fork guy too, and the submarine...

so.. IDW released the name of the story i n Transformers #125. Which is the end of the current Chaos Story Arc.

  • Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime

Not a huge surprise to those who have been following it. Wonder how it's going to happen this time..

Each sheet of logos has several different sizes on them,

DPrime,
Glad you liked it! :)

When it comes to scale I'm using iGear's PP line as the starting point and will try and fit everything round those using a combination of real world scale ( F-15's are WAY bigger than sports cars ) and a bit of cartoon style cheating where it's unavoidable eg Megatron & Soundwave.

Given the number of different versions of the Macross VF-1 Valkyrie ( the toy Hasbro licensed for G1 Jetfire ) that have been made over the years it would be pretty easy for iGear to copy one of the 1/48 scale ones from Yamato as that's perfect scale to fit in with Faith Leader/MP Grimlock etc but now they've changed direction they could instead go for an original version based on the animation model which looked very different.

if it didnt get posted

Yeah, that TF wiki is always pretty entertaining!

Yeah, I would hope to see both the toy and cartoon heads, at the very least. Was the alt mode all that different in the cartoon?

Something I've been meaning to ask to the CHUG fans... Now that Henkei Rodimus is being reissued, is it worth it to get him? I've got the RTS two-pack version and he's okay, but I like the less cartoony colours on the original... Still, what do you guys think?
