Yeah, that TF wiki is always pretty entertaining!

Ditto.

Yeah, I would hope to see both the toy and cartoon heads, at the very least. Was the alt mode all that different in the cartoon?

Something I've been meaning to ask to the CHUG fans... Now that Henkei Rodimus is being reissued, is it worth it to get him? I've got the RTS two-pack version and he's okay, but I like the less cartoony colours on the original... Still, what do you guys think?

Skyfire looked like this,
https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=g...rt=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:0&tx=42&ty=104

The reason for the name and design change was because the Macross people wouldn't allow the Valkyrie design to be used in the cartoon.

Similar legal issues were why other characters that were made from toys Has/Tak licensed from other companies ( 3rd parties! ) either didn't appear in the cartoon at all eg Whirl & Roadbuster or looked different in some way eg Omega Supreme gained a proper face.

Henkei Rodimus is great, the chrome spoiler looks awesome and the overall color scheme is much nicer than that horrible looking anime style one.

The mold is showing it's age a bit now but unless iGear decide to scale down the Masterpiece to Deluxe scale it's still the best option.

lol, the idea of third-party Go-Bot figures has been in my head for a while... I'd love a super-articulated, accurate Leader-1... I really liked that lifting fork guy too, and the submarine...

Actually, there is an official version of Spoons. :lol Repaint of the ROTF scout Dirt Boss, who was based on him to begin with. It works really well too, though you can only get him in a 2-pack.

He's also superior to Dirt Boss, far more pleasing colorscheme.

The Seaspray repaint is a homage to the submarine Go-Bot too, but while it looks surprisingly good, it's not really the same thanks to the different altmode. :(

Right, I knew about the name and face change... For some reason I didn't think the jet mode was all that different though, but now that I look at it... hmm.

I'd be neat if iGear or some other third party company did one. I think I'd prefer toy-accurate, but with the option of having a cartoon face, and that's probably the only way we'd get one like that, what with the legal issues.

lol, well I don't think the cartoon one I've got is horrible, but it doesn't look quite as nice, that's for sure. Maybe I'll grab one from TFSource on my next order though...

Ha! Kind of neat - didn't know that.

Anyone can point me to the cheapest place I can get the mp-10. I love the video un boxing on youtube of this great piece. By far, the best prime ever made from g1.

from what I've seen, it's $250 everywhere not including shipping. If you're in the states, bbts.com is a good place to get him from

as for me, the more pics I see, the less I like him actually. I thought I liked him more than MP-01, but I was looking at my MP-01 today and really prefer the bot form on him more than MP-10. I started realizing what ppl meant by him looking too animated. The articulation is nice, but I don't have my TFs in pose that require that kind of articulation. I'll probably still get it IF hasbro makes him as a TRU EX like most of the others, since he'll more than likely be way less than half the price of the takara version.

Bah, that's hype talking.

I still think the original MP-01 design beats it. Looks more like the cartoon and it has better articulation.

I think Classics Jetfire used an alt mode very similar to the cartoon one, didn't he?

It was a hybrid of the toy and cartoon designs in both modes.

The obvious bit was the cartoon head and the G1/Macross inspired design for the battle helmet but there's numerous other cues in there as well.

It's a nice design aside from being too small....it should have been Ultra or Supreme Class.

DPrime,
This is iGear we're talking about, they laugh in the face of licenses! :lol

Here's a custom Jetfire by Xaviercal made with a Yamato 1/48 scale Valkyrie,

https://www.transformerscustoms.com/Jetfire masterpiece.html

The only thing I don't like on that is the headsculpt/helmet he's used....I'd prefer the G1 style head as the standard one and just have the option of a swappable cartoon style head.

Bah, that's a disgruntled owner of the old one talking.

Not at all. I really do think it's too stylized, and now we've seen that it actually has less movement in the legs, knees and hands. It doesn't have anything better in terms of the other articulation points, as far as I can tell.

The only thing I can see here is that it looks more like the current comic book depictions, so in that sense, it really just comes down to personal preference. I prefer the more cartoon accurate looking MP-01 design; personally, I think Faith Leader is the best incarnation, as it fits better with MP Grimlock, the Seekers, and CHUG Autobots. This is still too big.

I don't think it's an awful design and like PE's other releases the poseability should be top notch, but it looks more like a Junkion than Arcee especially the bike mode.

iGear Arcee for the win :)

I never owned animated Arcee but all of the other versions I've seen have been pretty bad, or at the very least outrageously overpriced for their quality/complexity.

Good call - that might make for a good repaint for them, actually.

Just like Movie Arcee and prime arcee M i rite Dubs?

Those iterations weren't trying to be G1 in their appearance in any way shape or form, however this clearly is yet still manages to fail.
I mean how hard would it have been to make a car mode instead of a bike mode?
I would have thought a bike mode would have been harder to engineer as well due to the lack of space for robot mode parts to fit into.
So no, you're not right at all...as always :pfft: :rotfl
