Not sure about the name of the plugin. If you google it you will probably find it. No way around the forum restrictions that I am aware of. It gets me too sometimes. I can't direct link to some of the pics from yojoe.com because they use s-h-t-m-l in the address or something :D

Why the hell has this been so slow? Why is Hasbro not doing more of these? I'm just confused and upset by some companies lack of interest in what they have best.

Because Hasbro's side of the partnership is dedicated to pushing mass market garbage from whatever crappy movie or cartoon happens to be the flavor of the month.

They throw collectors an occasional bone by importing Masterpieces but in terms of actually designing them they have little to no input aside from making pointless changes to the deco for the US release.

Takara have more of a collector oriented policy as the Japanese market is generally like that anyway which is why their versions of the Classics usually have better paint apps and the Masterpiece figures always get released there first.

Here's my favorite 3rd party companies,

1.iGear
( Did what nobody else has managed in over 25 years and produced a near perfect G1 Ironhide & Ratchet. Their Mini Warriors, Arcee, Seekers, Coneheads and scaled down MP01 are also great. The only thing they really need to improve is their customer service. )

2.TFC
( Blew a lot of people away with their Devastator and with Superion are continuing to show Has/Tak how to make decent combiners. )

3.Perfect Effect
( Their version of Reflector is up there with the best designed transforming robot toys ever. )

4.FansProject
( City Commander and Protector are VERY overrated but their takes on Springer, Broadside and the Insecticons are well worth a look. )

5.MasterMind Collectibles
( Their toys based on the Hearts of Steel comic are great, and their forthcoming figure of G1 Sixshot looks like being their best release yet. The only issue with them is that their QC can be a bit iffy. )

Ones to watch,

Toyworld
( Have started with an amazing Megatron figure and their Throttlebots are looking good. )

Mech Ideas
( Their debut release is set to be Topspin & Twin Twist. More G1 Wreckers are never a bad thing. )

That's just flat out wrong. Hasbro always has been closely involved with the design process of all the toys they put out, including the Masterpieces. It is not just an all Takara thing. If it was, we would never even get US releases of any of the Masterpieces, like how we never got any of Alternity/Device and Music Label/etc. We certainly would not have gotten a MP Grimlock as soon as we did, because he is not as popular in Japan as he is in the West.

Why? Because selling local versions of a toy you have no investment in, for a line that isn't even doing all that well, would just not be worth it. Especially not when they can put that time, effort and money into the mass market stuff that they know does sell.

Without Takara's Diaclone & Microman lines, there would be no Transformers brand period.

I don't doubt that Hasbro have contributed over the years but since I got back into Transformers collecting in 2007 all the best stuff has been from Takara and various 3rd parties and there's no sign of that changing.

If the Masterpiece line was anything to do with Hasbro Sideswipe would have turned into a generic lookalike of a Lamborghini Countach as the license would have been considered too much of an expense.

They'd also have used the same mold for Sunstreaker because they've manipulated their main sales markets to accept similar BS compromises with numerous different Classics toys that should have had their own molds eg, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, Tracks, Runabout & Runamuck, Springer and several others.

EDIT
More in hand pics of MP Sideswipe are emerging,

Got the new MP Prime today using the 20% off coupon from Toys R Us. Pretty cool figure. I still prefer the MP01/Faith Leader aesthetic, but this figure gives you lots of poseability that those other figures don't. I also really dig the trailer and other accessories. Spike is pretty cool, and can ride in Prime's cab, the little car in his trailer, the little fix-it bot in the trailer, or even a couple of control panels in the trailer.

Couple of pics i took of my new Hasbro Mp10. Please excuse the pic size and quality. Desperately need a new camera.

NYCC Hasbro panel was yesterday. Prime season 3 will be called Beast Hunters, and
has the Decepticons reclaiming Cybertron, the Autobots on the run, and Shockwave coming in to use the ultimate weapon to hunt down the Autobots. Ancient, long thought extinct Cybertronian 'dinosaurs' called the Predacons, led by Predaking!
The toyline will probably not be for anyone here though. They look fun, but are rather over the top, with a lot of remolded characters to look more savage (guns and spikes everywhere).

I'm pretty pumped about this. I love TFP and I'm looking forward to this fresh new take on things, while still keeping it all in the same continuity. The dragon-guy (Predaking?) looks awesome. Hopefully we see some of the Beast Wars characters in Prime style.

Good! Takara needs to get their act together on the Masterpiece line. Where is my MP Devastator?

Hercules.

Can anyone list for me here all the 3rd party companies? I just recently saw the molds or early protos of the Insecticons (Thundershred, Backfiery, and cant think of the last one) and I must say, they look downright UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!

Have those been made and released already?

Yes, and they are pretty great. I would definitely like to see a third party upgrade set for them, though, with more G1-ish heads at the very least. That's my only issue with them.

What about other robots they have made. I am very interested in them.

I've only got Warbot Defender (Springer) and he's quite a bit different. More blocky, die cast, heavy... Still great, but not quite as refined as the Insecticons.

I'd really like to get a Munitioner (Swindle) as well. I'm not all that interested in a full Bruticus (he's too small at this point, now that Herc's around) but this figure looks really nice just on his own...

The collector in me though, wants the official original names from Hasbro... Why the hell has this been so slow? Why is Hasbro not doing more of these? I'm just confused and upset by some companies lack of interest in what they have best.

They're masterpieces. Masterpieces take time. :)

Plus, I don't think they want to flood the market with $100+ figures. Too much for the average consumer (who's also buying mainline figures). And from what I gather, it's mainly Takara who developes the MP toys, so Hasbro only has a limited say in how things get done, I think.

My original plan wasn't to buy all of the MP-11 variants, but it just ended up that way... except for the original I guess. I know a lot of TF fans don't care for the ghost Starscream, but he's the first one that I got and definitely my favorite. Thought you guys might like to see Thundercracker, Sunstorm, and Ghost Starscream together. I have more detailed pictures of them posted on my collections thread (or will shortly).

Ghost Starscream would look pretty cool in a Beast Wars display, or behind MP Galvatron and/or Cyclonus, if they ever get made...

Nice pics, congrats!

Anyone bought an extra MP Prime and used the coupon and willing to sell it at retail plus shipping? TFW2005 has a sticky to sell MP Prime at retail but seems like a lot is on the list. PM me if you do have one. Thanks.

Hasbro has little involvement in the ACTUAL design of the figures. Their involvement is in manufacturing, Re-decoing, remolding, packaging, and advertising.

Additionally, it's hasbro, working hand in hand with Marvel who gave birth to Transformers from the ruins that were the diaclone/micromen toylines.

Repackaged, repurposed, renamed, and given a storyline. That's hasbro and marvel's KEY involvement with the brand.

And then Eventualy Sunbow comes along and claims they did it all :lol

As far as MP-10 goes, just wait. he will FLOOD the market as we get closer to Christmas. just watch and see. much like Thundercracker is readily available on TRU.com, so will prime be.

Why must you do this to me...I was blissfully ignoring everything until I had some spare cash but now you've done it...I'm off to pre order the cassettes & I'm sorely tempted by the Nemesis Prime as well, he's looking great.

I think I hate you :p :p :lol (J/K :1-1: )

Lol not just me then :)
I have been the same & I managed so well to avoid the Nemesis & Magnus MP-01's because I saw them just as recolours & not needed but this time I'm not sure I might have to get him.

He would look pretty sweet in a display with my Scourge Prime from the original Robots in Disguise line :)

I'm not quite that mad I'm only buying one each of the upcoming MP's ;)
2 would be pushing it & the wife would Throttle me with the cable ties that hold them in place if I did ;) lol

The tapes look amazing, but I'm waiting for an MP10 repaint to include several bananas :lol

Lol he doesn't look that bad to me.

I think MP10 is proof that Prime can be a truck and a monkey simultaneously :lol

Brawn isn't here yet :gah:

I hear ya. I imagine Takara will put out a "sleep mode" MP10 Optimus in the future,so Im not sure I wanna double dip on both or even get both. If I could choose one or the other based off the MP01 mold colors,Id rather have this one. Its an evil Optimus and the meanest shinyest bestist one yet! I cannot pass it up...its pure Nemesis sex:lol

As for my girlfriend, if she only knew.......if she only knew...
