Why the hell has this been so slow? Why is Hasbro not doing more of these? I'm just confused and upset by some companies lack of interest in what they have best.
Because Hasbro's side of the partnership is dedicated to pushing mass market garbage from whatever crappy movie or cartoon happens to be the flavor of the month.
They throw collectors an occasional bone by importing Masterpieces but in terms of actually designing them they have little to no input aside from making pointless changes to the deco for the US release.
Takara have more of a collector oriented policy as the Japanese market is generally like that anyway which is why their versions of the Classics usually have better paint apps and the Masterpiece figures always get released there first.
Here's my favorite 3rd party companies,
1.iGear
( Did what nobody else has managed in over 25 years and produced a near perfect G1 Ironhide & Ratchet. Their Mini Warriors, Arcee, Seekers, Coneheads and scaled down MP01 are also great. The only thing they really need to improve is their customer service. )
2.TFC
( Blew a lot of people away with their Devastator and with Superion are continuing to show Has/Tak how to make decent combiners. )
3.Perfect Effect
( Their version of Reflector is up there with the best designed transforming robot toys ever. )
4.FansProject
( City Commander and Protector are VERY overrated but their takes on Springer, Broadside and the Insecticons are well worth a look. )
5.MasterMind Collectibles
( Their toys based on the Hearts of Steel comic are great, and their forthcoming figure of G1 Sixshot looks like being their best release yet. The only issue with them is that their QC can be a bit iffy. )
Ones to watch,
Toyworld
( Have started with an amazing Megatron figure and their Throttlebots are looking good. )
Mech Ideas
( Their debut release is set to be Topspin & Twin Twist. More G1 Wreckers are never a bad thing. )
