Sweet pics man, thanks! The tapes are looking SPECTACULAR! I hope they make more. And not just more tapes either - other small guys, too. Imagine Reflector? Though I suppose he/they could stand to be a bit taller...

I didn't think the PerfectEffect Rumble & Frenzy could be bettered but Takara have managed it....just shows what they're capable of when they're "on".

I think Reflector is a bigger challenge as PerfectEffect's is one of the best transforming robot toy designs ever, there's so much gone into the way all the weapons integrate into both modes and the tiny robots are more poseable than many of their larger counterparts.

If Soundwave & tapes are a success ( and there's no reason why they shouldn't be ) I think Blaster will become a very viable option for Takara.

Contrary to what some people at TFW are suggesting he should also be his own mold and not a retool of Soundwave.

When a Takara designer has acknowledged that Sunstreaker should have his own mold I can't see them half assing Blaster as it would go against the whole new direction the Masterpiece is taking.

As Blaster only had 4 main tapes they could include 2 with him and then do a 2-pack of the others.

Unless they bump him up their priority list I doubt he'll happen before Sunstreaker and the Nissans though....which is fine with me.

This is a good shot.

I kinda dig the gorilla prime look myself. Doesn't touch MP-01, but what could??

Yeah, I don't mind it. I might pick one up later, when they become plentiful and go on sale. It's not a must have for me, though.

Yeah, they're nice. They could stand to be bigger, though, and more G1 accurate.

And yeah, Blaster would be nice, too!

with MP SS,SW,TC,RA and hasbro MP PRIME all ordered and paid for,my HT collection is shrinking fast to cover it.but MP's are more important to me! robocops goin on the bay this week to feed the TF MP/3rd party addiction! ha.

just checked my cc bill, and MP Thundercracker has cost me a total of £65.91 off ebay which is great price the guy did me it for $110 after i asked nearly every seller to do me it at that price ha!
his rrp over here would have been £60 in TRU over here so not bad.

You know as nice as some of these 3rd party figures are, I have one humongous problem....THEY ARE TOO DAMN SMALL!! I was so amazed by how nice the 3rd party Insecticons looked, but when I saw the review, I was completely turned off by the small size. I don't do small size well as a collector.

Its got to be of a significant size to me. One other thing, I don't know if anyone else is like this, but I absolutely can't bring myself to buy a 3rd party TF. I am a purist, and for me, it has to have the original robots name.

I only collect Hasbro Masterpiece because I want consistency, and I hope the packagaing continues to stay the same. I would like to see them get more accurate with the size of each transformer and how they would be in scale to one another.

Just a little frustration I am letting off here. I so want more Masterpiece TFs but will not buy anything outside of Hasbro. I can't even buy Takara boxed versions because I hate the names. Convoy? Yuck!

Transformers Masterpiece line is reborn! Cybertron Leader spotlight!
>[Masterpiece Convoy] series starting June 2013
>"People love Convoy, he is the most sought-after figure in a lot of lines and the Masterpiece line is no exception that is why we think it is time to transform the Masterpiece line concept into something people will love even more" says TakaraTomy Marketing Team Producer Noriaki Maeda. "People want more Convoy and we want to offer the best products" those are the words describing the new Masterpiece line direction. Get ready for the ultimate Convoy figures with better looks and a wide variety of gimmicks. When asked about the other characters, Noriaki says "We plan to release 3 to 4 Convoy figures a year, each time with new gimmicks, new sizes, different iterations of the Generation 1 design, we know some fans would feel disappointed knowing they will never get a new Masterpiece Megatron or Meister but in all honesty, they won't have much time to think about that thanks to a completely new Convoy figure getting released every 3 to 4 months". With this being said, let's make an appointment for June 2013 to discover the first [Masterpiece Convoy] release.

tl;dr: they will release 4 Optimus Prime a year in the MP line and nothing else.

3 to 4 Primes a year and no resized Megatron (or anything else)?

Did we just see the beginning of the end for MP?

That's got to be bollocks.

If not, no big deal as I'll just stick to 3rd party stuff.

loricstone,
If you think some 3rd party figures are small don't collect anything from the mass market lines as they're getting smaller with every new wave.

Also,
Why are the names so important to you? As long as the toy inside the packaging is great does it really matter?

I've heard this from a few others and I just don't get it.

The Insecticons were always kind of small. Not Bumblebee small, or anything, but the FansProject versions are pretty much perfectly sized next to the new MP Prime. Why would anyone want a 12" Shrapnel?

Mind you, these are probably meant for a "Classics" collection more so than Masterpiece, but I display mine with MP Starscream and they don't look out of place whatsoever.

One other thing, I don't know if anyone else is like this, but I absolutely can't bring myself to buy a 3rd party TF. I am a purist, and for me, it has to have the original robots name.

There are other "purists" out there but I've never heard of anyone like this... a name? Haven't you ever heard the saying "a rose by any other name is still a rose"?

The third party names are only different for legal reasons.

I only collect Hasbro Masterpiece because I want consistency, and I hope the packagaing continues to stay the same. I would like to see them get more accurate with the size of each transformer and how they would be in scale to one another.

Again, that's why the Insecticons are smaller...

Just a little frustration I am letting off here. I so want more Masterpiece TFs but will not buy anything outside of Hasbro. I can't even buy Takara boxed versions because I hate the names. Convoy? Yuck!

Okay, I'm sorry, but that is WEIRD.

You are missing out on several versions which are superior to the Hasbro releases. I can see how this might be a factor if you're a MISB collector and display the boxes, but if they're going to be opened, who cares what the packaging says? The Takara Masterpiece Primes (all versions), Seekers (except Walmart Starscream... but then Takara released MP-11 so...) and Rodimus are ALL better and more accurate than the Hasbro ones. The only exception might be Grimlock - and I'm not convinced either one is "better" per se, just different.

You're missing out, dude. :)

Seems very odd to take issue with names, considering that even Hasbro itself has had to change many names over the years of Transformers and GI Joes due to legal issues. I guess you'll never buy a Masterpiece "Shockblast" figure if released since he legally can't be called "Shockwave." Or for that matter, any figure named "Sergeant Kup," "Decepticon Rumble," "Autobot Jazz," etc.

That better be a bogus translation!!!! If not, all transformers fans will hear my screams around the world!!!

Yeah, these are definitely the words of a typical fanboy crying about no V2 Megatron and Jazz yet and just upset about the MP-10B announcement:lol

I can't wait for that figure, myself. I think it looks awesome in black with the 'con symbol and so glad these not an extra $100 tag for a useless trailer. Looks like I'll have to hunt down an MP-09B now. I think they'll look awesome together.
