Has there ever been a more hideous MP figure than Acid Storm? The answer is no.

And those yellow eyes are not as nice on Soundwave IMO, but an easy fix if you want red instead.

That actually sounds a lot like Man-E. I guess there's nothing new under the sun, though:

https://he-man.wikia.com/wiki/Man-E-Faces

"in the two cartoon series he uses his faces for the purpose of playing different roles as well as additional powers."

more or less, yes. minus the crazy :lol

And I like Acid Storm. Will Buy.

Thanks Spanbauer. I already have Takara's Soundwave so I'll just cancel my PO's on the Takara cassettes and just wait for Hasbro's then sell Hasbro's Soundwave instead. Man. What a merry-go-round.

Soundwave looks great! Not sure if I'll paint over the yellow. So no more speculation a out ratbat then :lol
Yellow eyes is an easy trade off for Soundwave plus all five tapes at $100.

And wow, they found the one way to make a MP Acidstorm even more stupid, right into bat**** acid tripping insane territories.
:lecture:

They could've made this a double wammy if it was the new Starscream with coronation gear

Soundwave will sell but Acid storm will be the next Thundercracker or even worse.

Well I've got to assume the hasbro set will be closer to $99 instead of the $300 it'll run you to pick up the Takara-Tomy versions.

Yeah, if you can avoid the scalpers. :)

I do hope distribution has improved since the MP-10 fiasco.

Yeah, I can't imagine him selling BETTER than Thundercracker. I mean, Thundercracker sold out at many places but has been languishing a bit in others.

I just hope he sells enough to make it worth it in Hasbro and TRU's eyes. I'm glad the more hardcore Seeker fans and what not are getting one, but I won't be picking one up. Not at full price, at least - I mean, if these go on clearance for $20 or something, sure, why not?

Ugh, I got in a tiff last night with some TFW bonehead who "felt sorry" for those who bought the Takara Soundwave. I mean, WTF, right? No one wants anyone's pity, especially over something so trivial. It's not like anyone who buys Takara's MPs doesn't know there's a good chance of a cheaper domestic version being released down the road. No one was "tricked" into buying it, after all.

And quite frankly, even ignoring the fact these pics are heavily photoshopped, I think Takara made the better version. The darker blue is more accurate to the cartoon, and of course the eyes are as well. I'm glad a Hasbro version is coming out, because I get it - sometimes stuff like that isn't worth the premium price to people (after all, I never bought a Takara MP-09 or 10 because of that very reason), but I haven't seen anyone regret purchasing the Takara version. I hate it when someone tries to make others feel like they should.

Just had to get that off my chest. :)

The thing I still can't understand with Acid Storm is why choose him when Takara already released Sunstorm...surely it's cheaper to just repackage him than to go all out & re-colour for AS & unless you plan to release the rest of the rainmakers it's just odd...so very, very odd.

On the TFW thing that's just stupid!
I buy the Takara versions because...

A) I get them Early
B) The Packaging is better
C) Normally they are better looking (MP10 not withstanding)
D) As you can plainly see Hasbo's ideas regarding who should be released leaves a lot to be desired & with the MP10 debacle we never know what the hell we'll be getting in the UK (if anything!)

More expensive or not I want them & I'll make sure I own them by getting Takara versions...I don't need pity...I need more!!!!!!!!!! :lol:lol

Well, no doubt there's a market there... Lots of TF fans will buy it, no doubt. And maybe kids who don't care about the characters so much will too, who knows.

I'm just not sure TRU is the best way to do it. Sunstorm was an exclusive, after all. For an obscure character like this, that's probably the way to go.

Starscream is "obvious" to us but the fact that Hasbro has already released one - albeit the "old version" - probably weighs more heavily than we'd like. TRU probably wants something "new".

Exactly.

Even with MP-10, a case can be made there. Hasbro's eyes sold me on that, though (like Soundwave in this case, too).

Besides, you wait for a Hasbro version, you're just as likely to get burned than not. No MP-11 Starscream, after all, nor Sideswipe and Red Alert. :)

And worse case scenario, if you do get buyer's remorse, you can sell pretty much any MP for a profit on the secondary market. There's really no downside to picking up the Takara versions if you can afford it.

Yeah Hardcore will definitely be up for it & I dare say should it get picked up for the UK then I might take the plunge but so far we only got Skywarp (not even a sniff of Starscream or the new TC) & he was in the bargain bins before long at Argos of all places for £20 so based on that I doubt we'll see Hasbro jump to release Acid of here.

TBH with MP11 I think you are right both TRU & probably Hasbro even see that there has been one release so no need for a second...even if it was a bit different, I guess they think that Joe Public won't really be that interested or notice they are different & not pick it up based on that.

Yeah the way they handle the releases is just odd...the only thing I can think with the likes of Sideswipe & RA is that perhaps the Lambo license needs to be territory based & without applying to use the likeness in the US / UK they are unable to release them outside of Japan?
Could be the same with the Nissans for future releases

Oh yes I don't think I'll lose money on any of my MP's except maybe Starscream & my MP01 Prime as I went for the Wallmart version of Screamer there thanks to the cartoon colours over the Takara Grey version & my MP01 is the TRU exclusive but aside from that they are all original releases from Takara.

I'm 100% with soundwave on reasons for going with Takara although I maintain that no version of MP10 looks nice in robot mode :wink1:

Pitying someone for not being able to get something cheaper is the sort of arrogance that does nothing but cause bad feeling within the fandom but if the moron DPrime was talking with is true to form he'll likely be among the first to complain when Megatron V2 is announced as it will be a Takara only release.

soundwave,
A Hasbro guy confirmed at Toy Fair that a seperate license would be required for the Lamborghinis to be released outside Japan.

This has lead to some speculation about a possible assortment of MP cars being released for the 30th Anniversary as by then there'll be at least 6.

lol, I'm coming around to MP-10. Maybe it's the rising prices that are tugging at the collector in me, though. :)

Looks like my trade went through. Basically I traded Henkei Inferno, Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, United Tracks, iGear's UFO and TFPrime Season 1 bluray set for Hasbro's TRU MP-10, TRU MP Rodimus (both w/boxes), TRU MP Grimlock (w/o box - I'll be selling or trading this since I've already got one), Takara Animated Arcee MOSC, WFC Soundwave and CJ, WFC boxed set BB (might sell this, I dunno) and a Renderform Red Alert upgrade set (probably sell this too).

Not bad... I would have come out way on top had I purchased Henkei Sunstreaker and Inferno at initial MSRPs, but what can you do? I think it was a pretty good deal. He wanted Henkeis, I wanted MPs - the rest of the stuff was kind of thrown in to even things our on both ends.

I don't think anyone worth his/her skin wants to be pitied, personally. Sympathy is one thing but pity? Especially for this, of all things? Come on... Anyway, I just found it very presumptious, and yeah, arrogant too.

That'd be cool. Boxed set, maybe?

Not that I'm banking on it. ;)

Well, I have Takara Soundwave and I want, nay, demand all of your pity. So please. . .pity on.

Not only do you have mine but you also have Mr T's...

DPrime,
I may come round on MP10 eventually....probably if iGear scale it down and release it as Faith Leader 2.0 :lol

Sounds like you got a decent trade there, Grimlock is in big demand at the moment so you should make a decent amount from reselling that.

A 30th Anniversary selection of MP cars might actually be something Hasbro would consider....if licensing was straightforward but as we're already seeing this may not be the case.

Or better yet, scale Faith Leader up a bit. :)

Or Grimlock, I suppose, to silence all the TFWers demanding he be an inch taller. :)

Yeah, I suppose so. That's the hope, anyway!

Yeah, it's all purely speculative at this point. The smaller MPs are still a new concept to TRU - they might not be interested at all.

I'm sure licensing can be worked out if they see the potential for profit, though. It's not like you don't see Lamborghini stuff out there... and if they play their cards right and get a good relationship going with Hasbro and Takara, it'd probably be quite prestigious to have a new Lambo or two in the movies... As much as I dislike the movie designs (and writing), they ARE popular films. I hope this draws Porsche away from their wimpy anti-war stance, too. :)
