Very cool stuff!

Does the Monopoly set have a card that says,

"You have had your voicebox stolen by Michael Bay. Go to the toy aisle and warm pegs for eternity. Miss 3 turns."

:lol

Thanks buddy :)

Lol not that I remember...although that said I haven't actually ever played it :slap

Yeah those are the comics we got while you had smaller normal comic sized issues
I have a pretty big collection of them with only a few missing issues but those are my best ones as they are signed
I'll get some more shots of them at some point

Lol yeah Lee sullivan was pretty nice when I met him & he said he's always liked drawing Powermaster Prime so decided to get him to sketch that for me on the day :)

Simon Furman was really nice as well a total gent & he has so much love for TF's it's amazing.

The Ark book is pretty big, not huge by any stretch of the imagination but it covers characters from all 4 Seasons of the cartoon so plenty to look at
Really chuffed I picked it up back in 2007 for £13 (about $20) as the cheapest I can find it new now is on Amazon for around £100!!! :thud:

I'd be more than happy to get some more pics for you.
I've put the books in storage at the mo so I'll dig them out in the next few days & get some more taken.

Thanks again for the comments guys always happy to share the love :)

The only combiner I'd seriously consider getting now would be an official Masterpiece Devastator if Takara made all the Constructicons to be bigger than the Autobot cars.

I think at this point I would likely buy any Takara MP, so really any combiners would be welcome.

Thing is, even if I decide it's a character that "doesn't fit", I'd rather pick it up at the initial retail price, because it seems that within a year or two of release, you're looking at double or more to buy it on the secondary market. If I really decide I don't want it anymore, I can sell it for a profit to pay for stuff I do want.

Probably wouldn't bother with Seacons, though. :)

That said, I'm not convinced we'll ever see an MP combiner, so I'm pretty happy with Herc. Yeah, he's not as G1 accurate as I'd like, but the fact that he's based on the IDW design (which is awesome) is good enough for me. In fact, even if Takara did release MP Constructicons, I'd be hard pressed to sell Herc - I'd probably keep him in combined mode and display the official figures individually.

I predict a Masterpiece Devastator within 3 years.

That means that, given the current schedule, we'd have to start seeing them released within a year and a half at the latest. And if they release them one after the other, that's over a year of releases taken up by basically "one" figure - it might be a pretty big risk from a retail perspective. Can they count on each individual release being as popular as a cool sports car, jet, or otherwise major character like Optimus Prime, Megatron or Starscream? Because the real draw is Devastator himself for most people - and the prospect of committing to six relatively minor (and dare I say, a bit boring compared to many other potential choices?) characters at $150 or so a pop over a year and half... well, that might be a bit daunting for many. Sure, it worked for Hercules - but that's a different market. From our perspective, not so much, but Takara is aiming the MP line at the general public in Japan, just as Hasbro aims them at kids via TRU.

Anyway, I just don't think Takara's ready for that. And quite frankly, I don't think I'd want to see it either, not until we get a full line-up of Auto-cars and MP Megatron, Shockwave and Skywarp... and who knows if even that will come to pass? These things are still coming out SLOWLY. :)

I think we will more liekly see the Stunticons first. Menasor will likely be the one that Takara tackles first.

It does seem to be the "easiest" in a lot of ways... But I guess we'll see. :)

Any rumor about about a Takara MP Shockwave? I'd rather not go through the hassle of getting Fanstoys Quakewave now and sell him later on.

Not really. Just speculation because he's a "main" Decepticon (not really, but in a lot of people's minds he is).

....and IF we get a Takara version,I bet it will be under scaled and the same size as Hercules...watch and see

Yeah, I agree.

The individual Constructicons' size compared to other MPs will likely match the original toy more so than the cartoon or that stupid "scale sheet" everyone at TFW thinks is Takara's bible... I'm thinking they'll be a BIT bigger, but not much. Like maybe a head or so larger than MP Sideswipe/Prowl, that's it.

Hercules does not blend well with MPs, it is one ugly blocky mess.

lol. Well, to each his own, but there's nothing wrong with "blocky" when it comes to G1.

Right on! I searched for that Ark book immediately! lol and then saw the price, and then started weeping. I think Im just looney enough to drop that much dough for one.:slap Looking forward to more pics!

DPrime,
You make some good points, I think my prediction of 3 years is a bit optimistic but who'd have thought the Masterpiece line would be where it's presently at a little over a year ago?

I've just been looking at refining my collection a bit more and anything I don't feel is a complete fit with the rebooted Masterpiece line is for the chop and Herc is top of the list.

soundwave,
That Ark book is awesome, lets hope that Masterpiece Megatron V2 has a robot mode that looks like those pics.

I also see that the early art for Prime had decent body proportions :wink1:

Are there pics of Sideswipe & Sunstreaker in there?

Lol yep it was a shock when I saw it too.
If you can afford it I would recommend it, it's worth owning.

Yeah would be really sweet if Megs does.

Lol yep no MP10 style "Gorilla Prime"™ here ;)

There are indeed :)
Book is at the storage unit at the mo but I will try to get up there tonight if I can to pick it up as I have some more stuff to put up there as well so kill 2 birds with one stone :)

Well, we're definitely in a state of flux right now. Things have changed and no one is quite sure how much.

I've just been looking at refining my collection a bit more and anything I don't feel is a complete fit with the rebooted Masterpiece line is for the chop and Herc is top of the list.

I'm of a similar mind. I think I had mentioned to you earlier that I've made similar cuts - most notably by selling iGear's Coneheads, Weapons/Medical Specialists and UFO (I'm keeping Hench, of course!). They're just not QUITE G1-accurate enough for me anymore... well, the Coneheads are close but I'd rather sell now for a good price and wait for official versions based on the MP-11 mold, which is a lot more stable. And if official versions never come, oh well... They're from the second season anyway. :)

Pretty sure Ironhide and Ratchet will come, though. Not 100% sure - but enough to sell the iGear ones. I would probably pick up a UFO recoloured with darker, more accurate green. Sure, he's more "classics" than I'd prefer but unlike a lot of people, I really don't see MP Minibots coming - and even if they do, anyone other than Bumblebee or Cliffjumper is a real long shot.

Herc, though, is the best Devastator going, and I don't feel confident at all that an official one will ever be seen. If the aftermarket price jumps up I might feel the pressure to sell, but as of right now, I'm not willing to take a loss on it, since there still seems to be plenty available at the moment.

For now, I'm happy to own one. I think he'll look great facing off against that upcoming Metroplex on my shelf... :)

OK, I'll look forward to seeing some more pics as and when you get time to post them! :clap

DPrime,
I suppose it comes with only having a certain budget but I'm constantly re-evaluating my collections and right now my goal is to get as much of series 1 & 2 in Masterpiece style or as close to that style as possible eg iGear Brawn & Gears and Fans Toys Shockwave.

So Herc is becoming surplus to requirements and I'm borderline on the iGear Specialists. I still think they're an amazing achievement in being the first decent toys the characters have had but with Takara having the Nissan license and the obvious repaint potential of the mold it would seem likely that an official Masterpiece Ironhide & Ratchet will be among the designs that Takara are said to have on file even if they're not planned for a while.

If they're a bit bigger and the robot modes are cleaner than the iGear ones then they'd be must haves.

I'll just keep the igear ones, AND get the Takara MP ones too :D

I mean, why not? afterall, how many primes do i have? :lol

Fair enough if that's within your budget and you don't mind having more than one version of a character.

I prefer to have 1 version of each character that I feel is "definitive" and move on to others....Faith Leader is the last Optimus Prime I'll ever buy.

I've got faith leader, MP-01, MP-10, and white faith leader, as well as MP-10 Black version on order ( scourge!!!)
I'm also trying to talk myself out of buying the Shattered glass faith leader as well.

I've been writing a toy photo comic for a long time. eventualy i'll get around to making it. it's how i justify my.... immense collection.

wohoooo just PO fanstoys Quake wave from my local tf seller :yess: so happy he can bring in that figure, looking up all the reviews on quake wave, it doesn't dissapoint and really blends well with other MP

Yeah, I'm like this too. At least when it comes to "universes" - I'm fine with having an Animated Prime, a TFP Prime, an MP Prime, etc.

G1 style, I have a TFC reissue, a 20th Anniversary version, Faith Leader and MP-10. I should probably look at getting rid of one of those, though... Maybe Faith Leader, as much as it pains me to say so. I guess it depends on how I display my MPs once MP-10 gets here. If Grimlock is separate, then maybe I'll keep him.

In the end, TFs only make up part of my collection. I can't overload myself with them, and if the ones that don't fit can pay for other stuff, why not?

Trading has been very satisfying lately. Looks like I'll be trading of my Henkei Hound for an MP Red Alert! Not bad as he is one of the few Henkeis I picked up for fairly cheap. :)
