Future definitely seems bright at the moment. Since this is the only TF line I'm interested in, I hope it stays that way.

Definitely interesting to see how Hot Rod rose in popularity over the years. I remember when I first got internet in the late 90's and found a TF message board and people were really passionate about hating him. I don't mind him character-wise but I really do love his G1 design so I'm always up for anything G1 Hot Rod.
The one saving grace of Hot Rod--in my opinion--is that he is a bad-*** '80s car. I actually had the figure as a kid, and liked it. But even then I wasn't a huge fan of the character. Obviously the animated movie was supposed to make us like him when all was said and done, but even in 1986-87 I could tell that the cartoons, stories, and characters were all on a fast downhill slide.

The thing is I don't think I know anyone who actually disliked Hot Rod when I was kid & I certainly never have.

I always thought he was pretty cool personally.

Bumblebee has definitely grown into much more hatred over recent years.
I never really liked him as a kid but I put up with him, now I just can't stand the sight of him.
Irregardless of that fact I will still buy him because my display needs him to be a proper G1 line up.

Wheelie like most people is just the most annoying little piece of crap ever.
Just a hateful little thing.

Neil

Irregardless?

Is that part of the Queen's English? ;)

(Sorry, I think I'm just being defensive of Bumblebee!)

I don't hate Hot Rod because he screwed up. I hate him because he killed Optimus Prime! Fault Bumblebee as you will, he never did that! The animated movie did focus on some really flawed characters--Hot Rod, Ultra Magnus, Grimlock. But if you look at the G1 cartoon that was kind of a running theme. Autobots who judged each other harshly (Brawn toward Perceptor), were homicidal maniacs (Cliffjumper), were paranoid (Red Alert), and had relationship problems (Powerglide). Some that got angry at Prime for not valuing them and became traitors as a result (Grapple and Hoist). The list goes on :lol

More than meets the eye, indeed! There were layers to these characters even then. :)

It's a stupid reason for hating him. As Karamazov said, he is SUPPOSED to be a flawed character... so yeah, I guess the reader is supposed to dislike him to a certain point, but not with vehement, fanboy-rage hatred!

But really, he was trying to do the right thing, right? Prime's death was all the more tragic - and more interesting - because of it. And it gave him room to develop as a character.

Honestly, Kup standing back (I think it was Kup, right?) and saying "don't interfere, this is Prime's fight" or whatever was just as irresponsible. Sorry, but this is war - if you can gang up on the enemy leader, you do so.

I think Hot Rod would have been a more popular character if he just stayed as Hot Rod and not Autobot Leader Rodimus.

Yeah, being responsible for the guy's death is one thing. Taking his place on throne after doing it may have taken it a bit too far. Bad form.

Yeah, no doubt that was part of it.

I don't hate the characters, per se, but I do hate that nearly all the '84 favourites were killed off - rather unceremoniously, in most cases - all for the sake of capitalism and "reinvigorating" the toy line. :(

PO'd Wheeljack..pretty psyched about him. Bumblebee would be cool if they could pull off the G1 cartoon look and not the G1 toy...but same price basically for him as the other two? He should be coming in around $55

In a rare statement iGear have mentioned that both Impactor and the Sharkticon are still in their plans but it seems like they're waiting for a suitable time to release them.

In addition to MP Autobot cars there's a lot of 3rd party combiners competing for people's cash over the next few months so as frustrating as waiting for Impactor is it could work out better for iGear to hang on a while.

They also mention they've made a few modifications to Impactors design, hopefully nothing major as it looked virtually perfect as it was....I suppose they could upscale it a bit more or change the transformation to stop the anti-iGear idiots banging on about them stealing ideas from Generations Warpath.

Man you are really dying for that Impactor. :medic

Speaking of the third party combiners is anyone here getting any of the new ones? I would actually like to have a nice looking Predaking, but now that there is three in the making I'm gonna wait and decide. So far I like the look of TFC's better, but they have only shown one figure.

Just catching up on the last days posts. It's funny because Hot Rod is my favorite TF, has been since the movie first came out. I din't care much for him as Rodimus however. I would be ecstatic if Takara made an MP of just Hot Rod, scaled to the other cars in the line. And since Ultra Magnas seems to be on the way, they have to give us Kup and Springer-well a guy and can dream at least.

Either way, I'm pretty excited for all things Masterpiece at the moment. I've realized with the path Takara is on right now, all I have to do is be patient and I'll have all the figures I want in the long run.

Its an American English word. :lol

Oh, I just noticed Soundwave's from the UK, apprently its used everywhere.

Just got that one. someone needs to make a alternate fembot head and upper torso for dragastrip.

Looking forward to the last tow of the stunticons.

I've got both Herculese from TFC, and Green giant from maketoys.
REally found myself prefering Giant.
I've got the mmc predaking parts on preorder as well, and getting the fansproject menasor as they come out.

Impactor is important to any Wreckers display whether it's from the Marvel comics or the more recent IDW stuff.

Here's how I feel on the next lot of combiners,

FP Menasor
( The Classics aesthetic may have been cool once but looks pretty pitiful compared to what Takara are now doing with the Masterpiece line. G1 accuracy will always beat reimagined designs. )

TFC Superion & the 3 Predakings
( No nostalgia for either team and therefore no intrest. )

Yeah I have Hercules and prefer him to Giant. I'll probably just wait to see more of TFC's Predaking before I decide between them and MMC. I just don't like the look of Fansproject's Menasor at all so no interest there.

Corsair I just recently read Last Stand of the Wreckers so I understand. If the final version is as good as the proto I'll probably get him too.

It looks to be the best thing iGear have done, even better than the Specialists and it would be big shame if it never sees light of day.

In the meantime there's a possible stand in on the way as Mach 5 appear to be doing an amusing variant of Ironfist,
https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/937318-mach-5-mini-impactor.html

I'd buy that and use it as Son Of Impactor when the iGear one is released :lol

Heh, hope I didn't come off like a jerk, SW. Just playin' is all. :)

Lol no problems I know you're only kidding :1-1:

I have broad shoulders...well I don't actually I'm 10 stone weakling (about 140lbs) but it's the internet I take everything as a joke unless it really clearly isn't & I'm pretty sure I'd have known if you were genuinely having a go ;)

Liking the pics of Down Force he looks pretty sweet.
