Beast Wars was the best for me,even better than G1 as far as story line goes. And I grew up watching the G1 show.BW was the first to bring about the spark,as the soul that gives a Bot his/her life. The whole tie in of the original G1 bots to it was very cool too.

If you have paid attention to the TRANSFORMERS movie plot. Then you will find that they are going in the same direction. The whole idea of Bot's on both sides floating around in space in protoform with the Autobots and decepticons on earth awaiting their arrival for help/backup to fight the opposing side, come's from Beast Wars. It's great concept, and I'm glad they went with it

Beast Wars was great.

It was the show I could not wait to watch when I got out of class. I did not like the story arc where they traveled back to their planet though.

Nope; Hasbro has been wanting to give Prime a mouth to make him as expressive as Optimus Primal was. It's why the initial Energon Primes had those craptastic mouths, and why Cybertron Prime has a gimmick similiar to that of Animated Prime (mouthplate can move up and down).
Sorry but you are wrong.:monkey3

The character designers of the new series AND HASBRO THEMSELVES confirmed it at Botcon last year. Hasbro wants the animated Prime to look like the movie version. That's the whole reasoning behind the mouth. It has nothing to do with Cybertron or Beast Wars.

Doesn't really matter with the Animated line. I mean, Lockdown's a Deluxe, and he's the tallest figure by far!

It does matter when Slag is out of scale with Grimlock.

Lockdown is really tall though, but Voyager Bulkhead and Lugnut are both way too small. :( I only hope that Hasbro does a Leader Class Lugnut that will be in scale.

They come out in June (some weird marketing screwup by Hasbro), and the sizes seem to vary. Though it's safe to say that most of the Deluxes are in the 4-5inch range, and most of the Voyagers in the 5-6inch range.

The offical release date is June 22.

Starscream is 7 1/2 inches tall at the top of his head.

Bulkhead is 6 inches at the top of his "shoulder pads."

Cybertron Megatron is 7 inches tall at the top of his head.

Pics from my personal collection...:D:D

...along with some size comparison pics with some G1 figures.

I've seen some video reviews of the animated figures from people on the web, and I see some up for sale on ebay. Where are they getting these figures? Have they been released in other countries?

Most of these are coming from Hasbro's factory workers overseas.

I got mine through a "friend" from Hong Kong who is able to get me all kinds of stuff. :naughty

I should have the deluxe figures by next week.

As far as Beast Wars goes, it is without a doubt the BEST TF series ever!! :rock

Great writing, story editing, and character development; something that G1 had absolutely nothing of; make this the best series. Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio are gods!! :bow I wish Hasbro would hire them again for the next TF series.

Also, BBTS is finaly taking preorders for the exclusive Prowl, Bluestreak, and Smokescreen busts.

I knew ToyRocket would never be able to move that many busts.

So Bonehead, how fun are these animated transformers?? I know I can't wait to get my hands on em, so I'm just wondering since you have them.

...Transformers Animated is FULL of win. If you disagree with that, you didn't watch last week's episode. I initially hated the design aesthetic, too, but the characters and story are the strongest yet in ANY TF show (except for the G1 movie).
I agree 100%.

*Cough*BW has the best*Cough*
*cough*^^^^ NO!!!*cough* :monkey4

Beast Wars was the best for me,even better than G1 as far as story line goes...
Blasphemy.

Generation 1 > Beast Wars

God, I hate you so much right now.:emperor

Sweet pics by the way.

Sorry, but for me the only series that will ever truly hold my heart is the G1 show. As a kid I didn't care about storylines or dialogue, I cared about Giant Transforming Robot bad assery and that is what I will always have fond memories of. For this reason alone is why I think I never liked any other incarnation of the Transformers. Until the new animated show, which feels the most like the G1 show to me. :rock

I like the Animated series but not because it's most like G1 cause it isn't.:monkey3

G1 had bad animation, horrible writing, a billion characters which go no character development, bad choreographed battles, stupid villains that accomplished nothing...that sounds nothing like TF Animated and is the complete opposite of Beast Wars.

In fact, the thing that makes TF Animated so good is that it takes everything good from G1 and combines it with everything good from Beast Wars and the end result is Transformers Animated. It's a G1 style story with the great writing, character development, and story editing of Beast Wars. That's a wining combination. :rock

For the record I LOVE G1 but it just wasn't as good as most people believe it to be. :peace I enjoyed it as a kid tremendously and it's still my favorite 80's cartoon but it had tons of bad flaws. That doesn't mean though that you can't still enjoy it. How many people here had old BETA tapes of G1 that they recorded off of TV after they got home from school? I did until I got the DVDs. Anybody want to buy an old BETA recorder??

Israel, if I remember correctly you said last year that you had never even seen Beast Wars. :tap How can you make an opinion on something you haven't even seen? You'd really enjoy Beast Wars if you watched the entire series in order. It has TONS and TONS of G1 goodies in it. In fact it has more to do with G1 than any other TF series to date. ***I'm trying to be spoiler free here*** Go watch it!! :monkey5

So Bonehead, how fun are these animated transformers?? I know I can't wait to get my hands on em, so I'm just wondering since you have them.

I really enjoy them a lot. I know that kids are going to go nuts over them.

Starscream is great. The one nice thing about him is that his transformation is very simillar to Jetfire/Robotech design. As soon as I had him out of the box, it was like deja vu. Robot mode is great but him arm blasters are rather lame and he has no wrist or forearm articulation so it limits his arms to only a few good poses.

Bulkhead is best out of the 3 BUT he's just too tiny. :( He's got a great transformation and lots of articultion. The cannonball feature is even good. It just kind of "pops" out but at leasts it's an action feature that easy to hide. The lever to activate is very well hidden under is arm and doesn't activate unless you pull it up. If this figure was 3 to 4 inches tall it would be perfect but I guess that's why Hasbro is releasing Bulkhead as a Voyager and Leader class figure. The Leadrer Class should be more in scale with the other figures but it doesn't look as show acurate as this version.

Cybertron Megatron on the other hand is a mess. His Robot is very well done but his cannon is connect on the bottom of his arm instead of on top like the classics Megatron. :banghead The vehicle mode is just pathetic. It looks so bad that I never plan on transforming him again. :lol The deluxe Cybertron Megatron that comes in the 2 pack with Prime looks much better.

Oooooh, interesting, didn't hear that yet. Thought it was another case of Hasbro enforcing the mouth policy.

Depends on how big Slag is. I mean, for all we know he's this massive deluxe. As long as he reaches Prime's chest it'll be fine. Find it kind of funny how in their first appearance the dinobots were these MASSIVE things and then in later episodes the same size as the Autobots, though. Looks like the size issue curse continues to run rampant.

And yeah, a Leader Lugnut would be awesome, especially if it's as good as the Bulkhead one (who's only real fault are those wacky armpanels, it really ruins his look).

The offical release date is June 22.

I'll try it, but I'm not gonna promise that I'll like it. :D

I know I'm probably gonna get yelled at for asking, but who's going to Botcon this year in Cincinnati? I didn't want to search through the thread.

Well it's a start. :wacky

Just make sure you watch them in order. There are several "stinkers" in the first season but almost every episode is connected, like a comic, so it's best to watch them in order. By the end of season 2 you'll be in heaven. Trust me. :D

ME! ME! ME!

At least so far I am. :monkey3

I have reservations and everything but it looks like I might not be able to go. My boss had to have an emergency surgery last week so he might still not be able to come back to work by the time Botcon hits this month. If he's still out then work already informed me I can't have the time off.

Damnit Hasbro, why do you have to tease us with Onslaught and this guy? Why make core combiner figures WHEN THEY DON'T COMBINE?:monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

Also, Sideswipe is supposed to be the same mold as Sunstreaker, but yowza, I hope they retool it a bit cause the alternate transformation just doesn't work! That gap above the hood screws it up big time!

atf_03.jpg

Finally: Marvel Crossovers Wolverine and Venom. At least they look better then Toybiz' ^^^^pieces? Besides, Wolverine's mold looks good...Just a waste they figured it for this piece of crap crossover line instead of putting it in Classics 2 as Hound.:(

These are all the pics so far of the Australian Toyfair. Now let's hope that more show up!

Oh, and a bit of news for Transformers 2. I hope this isn't fake, cause THE CONSTRUCTICONS ARE IN!

I had never seen that Marvel crossover line. It looks worse than the Star Wars transformers. (Well, to be fair the Millennium Falcon and Death Star ones are pretty good.)
