sweet. the only time i saw skeleton fossils was when i was a kid and went to the Science Museum in St. Paul. i believe they have the largest complete triceratops skeleton in the world as one of their permanent exhibits. it's the only one i can remember.

I wonder how much control the artist has over the product once they hand the design over to Kinto/Favorite. Some of what I've learned recently has been surprising (a new paleoartist is doing work for them, though I won't say his name just yet), and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to learn that Trcic despised the Allo's racing stripe. Still have his e-mail address in my records. Maybe I'll ask him sometime, if people are still curious. :lol

That's a beaut of a saurapod. We have an apatosaurus in Laramie that always leaves me in awe. It's an old one that is in need of an update (its tail drags), but the little Uni of Wyoming can't really afford to update. In fact, if it weren't for a private donor, it would have been closed a year back due to budget cuts. It's sad that the museum was one of the first things they were going to put on the cutting board.

Yeah, it's a sad fact..people just don't want to look at something that's not flashy and FX-ridden. I LOVED the Dinamation animatronic dinosaurs when I first saw them in 1989, now they seem to bore all but the youngest..I read one person's review that said 3.00 for admission was too much to the show in San Diego...I would go twice a week if it were here for that price ! Even getting a job there.. :D

I'd definitely be curious as to what he thought of the color scheme. The sculpt is fine, though I think the teeth could perhaps have been better defined. It's the paint job which hammers, really hammers, that nail in the coffin for the piece, in my opinion.

Today i was in a exhibit and saw lifesize skelletons of Giganotosaurus, Argentinosaurus and Carnotaurus. I am still in awe!
Some years ago i saw a T-Rex, but compared to that Giganotosaurus it was nearly small...

Would love to see some of those in the sideshow line.

Here is the Argentinosaurus that i saw:

You must never have seen a large adult T.rex skeleton. :lol Gigas were enormous, but if you've ever stood in the shadow of "Sue" you would know a new definition of awe-inspiring. Nowhere near as large as that Argentinosaurus, though. I've never seen a full, mounted one. Must be wild.

Kids today are idiots. If I have children I hope to teach them to appreciate the simpler things in life.

If you can afford to have them in the first place..lol

SUE was the first dinosaur skeleton I ever saw mounted up...awe-inspiring is certainly the right word... of course I've never seen a Giga either...some museum should do a giant therapods exhibit..that would be spectacular...just have it near me.. :lol

I'll be able to afford it. Its just a question of whether I want kids or collectibles more. Guess which is winning.

To be honest i saw Sue fully mounted and believe me, that Giganoto was way bigger. Just the lower jaw was 6 feet in length. One of the feet was 1 1/2 bigger than the T-Rex-foot. That thing is enormous and even dwarfs the Rex (And i am a big Rex-Fan) :)

with this, the hulk bust, and the HT terminator all on sale in the same newsletter, sideshow's site will be crashing for sure. i hope i have no trouble ordering.

Then as a big "Rex-Fan", you are no doubt aware that Giganotosaurus does not have feet 1 1/2 times larger than T.rex. ;) Giga's an outstanding animal, and perfectly suited to its predatory niche, as T.rex was suited to its own respectively. I personally don't like to compare carnivores in that age-old pop argument - "which is 'better'". Each animal evolves differently under particular environmental pressures. Natural selection is the arbiter, and we've found a number of large carnivores in recent years all of which hover in and around the size proportions for T.rex and G.carolinii. Each is different, distinct, and adapted to its ecology superbly. What makes T.rex stand out from the group is not only its devastating biological arsenal of weaponry, but also its intellect which is among the most advanced that we've seen in dinosaurs as a whole, and easily surpassing all other large theropods. Paleontologists are quick to use T.rex as the standard for ferocity in the world or predatory dinosaurs with good reason. :D

I hope that's note the case. I'm highly anticipating this, and would hate to see those hopes dashed by a couple of other pieces going up that same night... however cool they also might be.

I won't be ordering it, but I can't wait to see it.

Say it isn't so, Agent?!?!

'Fraid so Scar. You know I'm all wishy washy when it comes to the vs. dios. I'm getting them, I'm not, I'm getting them, I'm not... Truth is that I like the maquettes better and when I move in March I won't be able to afford much so I have to start being really choosy. I still plan to keep the Deino though...if I can.

Understandable. The Deino is the first statue I'm considering passing on, as well. As much as I love these pieces, I'd rather have food to eat.
