That fight was a homage of the old universal monster movies specially Frankenstein vs the wolfman.

The close ups while running were great because it was done with practical effects bro..... come on! That really was him running not cgi

When he was running through the streets on all four and it was close ups on his face.. Practical or not I did not care for it and thought it looked dumb. Personal opinion of course.

Yeah I get the homage to the old films... Old films did it better and this film did not need the twist nor the fight IMO.. Again just not a fan. But its cool that you love it.

actually most people hate it, so you are in the majority.
Most non horror fans hated the gore, they expected something more tame. they hated how violent it was.
And most Horror fans hated on principle of being a remake and they hated the story (Because the Theatrical version cut up chucks of plot and was messy)
the movie flopped at the box office, it definitely has its big share of hatred. I Barely caught it in theaters because it was taken out rather quickly. the non horror community didnt know what to think of it and the horror community turn its back on it.

so when I was talking about it, I know full well most people hate it, but as far as Werewolf movies, As far as the werewolf itself this is one of the best representations. This to me beats the hell out of things like the Howling or silver bullet or Wolfen or even American werewolf in Paris or other movies like that. or even better than Nicholson's wolf. (wolfman looked much better than CGI van helsing wolf)
most werewolf movies are terrible and their make up is terrible or the wolf looks funny, the plots tend to be the same, it all goes down to how well the wolf looks

Thats I think why american werewolf in London is so iconic and so beloved, because they took their time to make the transformation look amazing and they took time to make the head of the wolf look scary and look non cheesy or funny looking. the wolf looks terrifying. that combined with the humor of the plot makes it be what it is.
if you take out the humor and if you take out the effects, the story is not very interesting

I know the wolfman has a lot of problems and I understand if people hated the two werewolves fighting, but I still think as far as werewolves go it is one of the best depictions of the werewolf. that alone to me makes it one of the best werewolf movies. the look alone makes it a winner for me

WOLF, Romasanta and Ginger Snaps are def my top three favorite werewolf movies.

Then AWIL and Wolfman remake.

Trick R Treat's werewolf scene is really cool too now that i think about it. the transformations were pretty awesome to see. it is a very wild scene

I like the original The Howing much more. But I would agree that it is better then the other films you mentioned. I would have to watch Wolf again to see how I feel about that one.. I have tried revisiting The Wolfman and I just can't get into the characters.. I wanted to love it when I went to the theaters.. I personally had no issues with it being a remake. Perhaps I should give it another chance..

Another great Werewolf was the Ethan Chandler Werewolf from Penny Dreadful. Love the classic understated Wolf Man design:

You could imagine my disappointment when Big Chief decided not to make him in Sixth Scale.

I like the original AAWIL but it's not a film I'm particularly attached to, so maybe that's why the news of a remake doesn't bother me too much. I'd honestly welcome a good remake so long as they stuck with practical make-up effects and didn't go digital, although sadly that's likely what we're going to see.

I loved this show! We must be about the same age because I can hardly find anyone else who remembers this show. Shout Factory was going to release the whole series a few years ago, but unfortunately there was some issue with the musicians that scored the show not signing off on it. And because Shout did have the audio as a separate track , they weren’t able to find a way to take the music out, so the whole thing was canceled. I bought a bootleg copy of the whole thing a coupe years ago but the picture quality is pretty terrible.

I have the same bootleg. :lol

I kind of like the crap quality - it reminds me of watching a well-loved vhs tape.

Lol. True. The bootleg does have that vhs type feel. I’ve often wondered if “Werewolf” was originally broadcast from videotapes. That would explain why the rights holder (Sony?) can’t find separate audio and music elements. I remember when the “Star Trek:The Next Generation” Blu Rays came out, in the special features they talked about how much trouble it was to remaster them in high definition because of a similar situation. I can’t remember the specifics exactly, but in that case, they still had all the original elements in storage that they could go back to, whereas with “Werewolf,” it seems like they may be lost. Whatever the case, it’s still a pretty neat show, and actually features Werewolf costumes designed by Rick Baker, who of course, designed the werewolf in “An American Werwolf in London.” Chuck Connors made for a pretty good evil werewolf too!

I grew up watching AAWIL. One of my favourites. The practical effects during the transformation scene are still superior to most in the present day. I'm all for a new werewolf movie, Dog Soldiers is another favourite of mine, but does it really need to be a straight up remake but with the the current trend of replacing the lead male with a female actor...

And this will be CGI heavy...
