I, personally, don't see anything wrong with flipping a pre-order, as long as it's stated that it's for a pre-order. Everyone buys and sells for their own reasons. Some buy and sell as an investment, some buy and then decide to sell because they may not want that item anymore, or they may have changed what they decided to collect since they placed their pre-order. I don't expect anyone to sell anything for less than what they want for it, unless they are just having a firesale and getting rid of a lot of their stuff(I've done this before).

There really is no reason to get upset because someone is selling a pre-order for more than what YOU think they should, or because you weren't able to get that particular item.

just my $.02 on it.

Flipping pre orders is very risky. Too many problems can arise from manufactures delays to SIM catastrophes. If a seller isn't careful then they will find themselves in some trouble with both Paypal and Ebay. Also, a seller who sells preorders should never commingle those funds with their own money because they may have to offer a refund sooner than they think...

See the hassle. Their loss, your gain. Buyers always hold the upperhand in these matches. :D

Luckily I had a very understanding buyer with SIM. I have learned my lesson and never plan on flipping a pre-order again. :lecture

Why don't you return it to Sideshow and tell them you couldn't make a profit on it.

They should understand.

Just for that, you are blocked from buying any of MY crap (as well as Tylerd's) that I can't flip immediately at a profit. :lol

Please udate your signature accordingly.

That depends... if I'm the first one on your list. :rotfl

Victorious how?

1. I wasted 30-45 days for nothing.

2. There's no gurantee I'll get my funds back, especially if the seller withdraws funds from his account.

3. Negative Feedback? That never stops anyone.

wasted 30-45 days? noone said you had to put your life on hold for a paypal dispute.

always pay with your credit card through paypal... that way if the sale does go bad, you can initiate a chargeback and guarantee your money is refunded. after the headaches i've dealt with in trying to get my money back from shady sellers, i'll never buy anything with funds in my paypal account again.

you'd probably be suprised about the feedback issue.

anyone want to buy my FB DOTF dio? I bought it just to flip, and now I can't get $450 shipped for it. Like Rory was saying, there are inherrent risks involved when deciding to buy a piece to flip. I should have flipped it when it was a preorder and hype was high.

They have been selling for around $425 without free shipping. Keep trying, man.

YOu're just being combative at this point.

1) then you shouldn't have pre ordered said item in the first place huh?

2) Chargeback if necessary but you will win the Paypal case I can almost guarantee that.

3) Negative feedback hurts sellers- A LOT even though you don't care to admit it.

+1 million!!!!! I had a VERY sticky situation with a pre-order for the Master Replicas "Revenge of the Sith" Darth Vader helmet, signature edition. I didn't get this item for over ONE YEAR!!!!!! :horror Talk about patience :eek: But this was due to manufacturer delays. Not the sellers fault. He was very patient with me and had great communication.... But the thing was, he had told me that I could ask for a refund at any time. So about one month before the item actually shipped, I had some financial troubles. I had asked the seller for a refund and he FLIPPED! He was ranting and raving saying that it was unfair for him to have to search for another buyer for this item with such little time before the item was scheduled to ship.... So how is that my fault? It's not my fault that the seller spent the money I gave him almost one year prior! He said I could ask for a refund, and TECHNICALLY I SHOULD'VE been able to cancel at ANY time, just as you can cancel ANY pre-order At Sideshow... And he was ALSO worried that it would depreciate in value and he wouldn't be able to make a profit on it (And low and behold, it DID lower in value) You can even buy a SE edition Vader Helmet for about $750! And I paid $1050 for it :eek: ) But in the end, I ended up still getting it, and it's one of my favorite pieces! I didn't get this item to flip, I got it cause I LOVED it, and still do :D But all in all, pre-orders can get VERY VERY ugly :emperor

I can't believe that he/she can state these in the description, they haven't even gotten the statue to check any of this... LOL

* Sold out at Sideshow
* New in Box
* Great detail
* Perfect companion piece for your other Bronze goodies
* Great for a Marvel fan

Do you have an ebay store ? If so, just list it in the store for $500 or even $550 with a best offer feature. It should cost you like .20 cents to list it for 30 days. There are only 2 listed now and they will end it 3 days.

You might get an offer you would be happy with . . .

I think when you sell something in an ebay store the Final Value fee is way higher. Just a warning.

really? I was thinking about opening Ebay store just to thin out some SSW LOTR stuff, just for a month or two. I figured it would be same cost as listing 50 indivudal items.

I tried it once, I was charged a ton in final value fees. I decided it was best to list individually in the end. Also, you don't get as much exposure when you use an ebay store. For example, I have noticed in some browsers my items didn't even show up below the currently listed items on ebay. Furthermore, they are below everything else and I think few people bothered to look at them even though I was offering a very competitive price.

You might want to try it but I didn't have a good experience with it.

If you list 50 regular items for an auction, whether they sell or not you will be charged about $ .35 to $ .50 an item and the max the auction can run is for 7 days. That's if you start each auction at $9.99 or less. (It costs more depending on your opening bid: a $500.00 item would cost $3.00 for a basic listing - no frills) Final Value fees: $18.82 fee for a $500.00 sale

Having an ebay store costs $15 a month. Listing most items in the store will cost you $ .03 and expensive items (like $500.00 statues) you pay $ .10 a month to keep it listed (again no frills). The final value fees are more expensive though: $25.00 fee for a $500.00 sale

I hope that helps . . . I have a store because I am always putting things up for sale . . and if my auctions end without a bid I can just throw them in the store for $ .03 . . . and it does get business . . .

Both points were very helpful, thanks.
