IMO this is far better than ESB Han. I love it!

Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. First, I have been collecting Sideshow since back in the "Sideshow Toys" days (when you could buy 12" Frankenstein at Toys R' Us for $20)! Ah, good times. Regarding the Han blaster, someone had a question regarding which version was the exclusive. The exclusive is the "Greedo Killer" which is the larger of the two blaster. This version was used in early promotional photos and costume fittings and was used in the cantina scene to "fry poor Greedo". The hero version is the smaller of the two and is sadly missing the "bull" barrel (before the scope) and the ridged grill on the lower front of the blaster. The hero version looks more like the ESB version and has a brown grip vs. the Greedo Killer which has a black grip.

Glad to be here.

OK, dumb question here.

Which blaster is the exclusive? The SS site shows the one with the silver barrel tip as the exclusive. I was thinking that is the same blaster that came with ESB Han. If it isn't the same can anyone point out the differences?

Thanks

You can go here to see the original props:

This is the exclusive Greedo Killer, the more elaborate blaster:

IMHO, I like the Exclusive blaster the most. I would've been disappointed if I missed the exclusive.

Welcome "bmarz1000"! You're amoung friends here. Thanks for the info on the two Han Solo blaster pistols. I was lucky to have pre-ordered the exclusive Han Solo, and got him yesterday.

So, has anyone started repainting the head yet? I painted the hair a lighter brown color, and took the dreaded white "doll dot" out of my Han's eyes. I also lightened his eyebrows since Harrison Ford has much lighter eyebrows than what the cruddy Sideshow paintjob had for him. Please post if/when you repaint the head on your Han Solo. I'll post pics after I finish repainting. I don't think I'll repaint the entire head. Just the eyebrows, hair and lips, and I've already taken the dot out of his eyes.

Welcome! And thanks for the info. To you AND screamingmetal!

I was supposed to get mine today from Fed Ex, so I check the tracking this afternoon and they've sent my package in the complete opposite direction it needed to go to get to the facility that delivers to my area. My package was in Nashville, TN Monday, Chattanooga, TN is the location that delivers to my area. Chattanooga is only 2 hours away from Nashville so no problem, it goes out Monday night and it's in Chattanooga this morning to be delivered to me this afternoon...or so you would think. Somehow my package got routed to Birmingham, AL...that's about 4 hours from Nashville and 3 hours from Chattanooga, and in no way shape or form in the right direction to my house...so I guess I'll wait one more day.

Ouch..sorry to hear that. Mine also went thru Nashville and then Chattanooga, but had not problems getting it yesterday.

It's a rare treat we get insight into the creative process of the sculptors behind our favorite stuff, and thankfully Trev was kind enough to show us his inspirational pieces for ANH Ben Kenobi and Han Solo. As homage to where the sculpt work draws inspiration and the process begins, I enjoy the chance to bring things full circle by representing the inspiration with the sculpture it lead to. So with that, here's my replication of Trev's Han Solo inspiration, another great artwork by Drew Struzan.

Now, this figure has been pretty unanimously praised for the overall quality, so for my first batch of photos, I wanted to focus on the sculpt work which has been the only real point of contention amongst folks, I think it's really nicely done.

Great photos MF, but I can't get past those caterpillars known as eyebrows. Like someone said previously...this may be the first figure I have repainted.

Size doesn't bother me on the eyebrows, but they almost look like someone had an eyebrow shaped sponge and just dipped it in paint and slapped them on, they look mechanical, not natural and i think it makes the shape look thicker. If they were painted more organically, I think they would be fine. That said, I'll take a little thicker and such versus organic and horribly mispainted.

Wowee! Man you have got to put up a CS2 tutorial on how you gave Han the "painted" look in your Trev tribute.

Glad you like Trev. Besides Trev's great sculpt work, while there are points where this figure could be better, as someone whose most wanted Han figure in this line was his ANH incarnation, I'm very pleased overall with this figure, I think it's really nicely done, and I think this marks a high point for SSC tailoring in the SW line. The jacket is all nice and clean as is his shirt, no fraying edges, I think the clothing is a high point on this figure, they are stepping up their game.
