That's a great looking custom Chewie you have there Adam! How did you make it, or did you make it? I'm sorry I'm coming in late on it.

I've got the plastic molded 1:6 scale Chewie from Hasbro I'll display next to my SS Han after we get moved into our house...maybe finally by early 2009.

I bought the first fluffy "Muppett" Chewie from Hasbro, but really hated it and sold it years ago.

Let us know how this great Chewie was made. Thanks! :D

I got that Chewie on ebay. I have no idea how it's made but some other Freaks have one too. They all look a little different to me.

My Chewie keeps moving around.

As soon as my ANH Han arrives I'm sure that he'll settle down in one furry place...that is, until SSC announces there wookie wonder (soon hopefully).

I think mine looks more like an ANH version of Chewie so I really like having an ANH Han up there with him.
If I would style his fur a bit more he'd look mo better though.

I haven't really styled him yet either-- as soon as ANH Han arrives he'll be forever stuck to his hip.

You just gotta have them together. To me Chewie isn't a stand alone figure and with ANH Han by his side they really complimet each other.

Definitely. I can't wait to pose them with guns drawn a la famous picture at the base of the Millenium Falcon stairs.:banana

I got my Han a couple of days ago. The paint was disappointing. The eyes in particular seemed somehow watery and indistinct. The outfit is mostly pretty good but the boots are plasticky and low in detail. Overall, it's a good figure, but not as good as I had hoped it would be. The sculpt is great, so it does look better after a repaint of course.

Hankering for a decent 1/6 scale Chewie so I scoured the intershnet and came up with this:

Click meh

Prepare to be underwhelmed...

Apparently there was another KB exclusive but in the VOTC collection not ROTS but I couldn't find much on it... but I'm at work right now so maybe I should be working? :monkey3

Whatcha reckon?

I like the VOTC Chewie for 1/3 of the price of a SSC figure, then again, I guess I have somewhat lower standards than most collectors here.

The VOTC is the same sculpt, but different accessories. I think a lot of the of the custom furry figures are built off of this guy.

Which is why they look chunky, the solid base figure already is just about in the correct proportions, even if poorly sculpted, so adding fur to the outside really bulks it up too much and those Chewie's look like Yjeti's.

That was my suspicion... wonder if someone could remove some of the body to get a slimmer final product? Usually the body looks decent on the figures, but the head is very wide.

I read somewhere on the web a long time ago that someone made a furry Chewie, using a female nude body that was modified in length, I believe it was a Sideshow. His argument was that Chewbacca really wasn't "that" bulky and that the fake fur and smaller frame body worked really well. It DID look good. I have to scour the net and see if I come across this again. Stay Tuned!

I'd think the Buck Big Boy would work, just a rough idea though, i don't know the thickness of the fur coverings being used.

Chewie is very tall and slender, which is why I'm not much a fan of any custom one I've seen, they all look too bulky for him to me.
