The custom one is impressive but I agree much too bulky. Although I don't have my breath held for a furred Sideshow version.

Yeah, yeah, Sean....then stop emailing me making suggestive offers for my Chewbacca. No means no.

:D

You've been getting those emails from Sean too huh?

:D

Hope you guys know I'm not attacking your Chewie's, their construction is very impressive, I just have burnt in my brain images of how the core Star Wars guys look and always aspire for figures and pieces that live up to the images in my hearts and the only Chewie I've seen so far to really nail it is the 3 3/4" VOTC ROTJ Chewbacca, that's perfect to me and I hope to see a 1/6 scale figure someday that looks like that.

Just screwing with ya, Sean.

No doubt we'd all love to see what SS could do with a furred Chewbacca. Can't have too many Chewies. But for now, I feel very fortunate to have a MarkM Chewbacca. Especially with the ANH Han. I still gotta futz Han and get him posed with Chewie someday soon.

But yes, a slimmer Chewbacca would really be nice.

I think the Chewie suit was just a fur suit with no particular padding or extra muscles, so it's basically just Peter Mayhew (a pretty slender guy) with fur. The big boy body is way too muscular for Chewie.

Just screwing with ya, Sean.

I figured as much, but just wanted to be sure, I don't articulate so well sometimes :duff

Fun fact: Lucas' inspiration, his dog Indiana, became the source for Indiana Jones taking the name Indiana instead of Henry according to Indy Last Crusade.

I remember someone was making a Chewie using the Kanamit body... don't know if that ever got completed though.

For a furred Chewie, you almost need to start out with something like a 1/6 IG-88 for a skeleton, but more articulated of course.

Wasn't that Darth Neil??

I think it was. He was gonna use the fur body from a Hasbro figure. I forget the member's name but someone made a very nice Chewie using the Hasbro "suit" and putting a new body inside.

There was a guy named SkyGunBro who made a terrific Chewbacca a long, long time ago that was up on ebay. He also posted a tutorial on how to make a Chewie face somewhere online long, long ago. I can't find him anymore. His Chewie used a tall female body that worked pretty well, but the hands sucked. But his head was outstanding.

I think I found what Darthrazz was talking about

That's the only pic I could find but it was done by Jason of Skygunbro's Custom Creatures

I think he had a tutorial on how to make one at one point, but I couldn't find it on the site

Yep, that's exactly the one I was referring to. This goes back to 2002 I believe. It's a terrific Chewie, even by today's standards.

That's impressive. Body looks like it's probably appropriately slender. My only criticism would be that the hair on the head seems a bit too one toned. Eyes and mouth look great, but something about the color overall of the head doesn't sit right.

:wave Yes it was.:D

I need to shave the Kanamit as the body (while the perfect size) makes the fur too bulky-- and the fur I've found (I've got two kinds, one from the Hasbro Chewie and another much thinner from a teddy bear type kit) isn't working--yet-- after much much much experimentation.

It's ongoing, but with two little ones I haven't had the time to devote to it... And I haven't had any successes to really post about. If I have a breakthrough I'll document it and be sure to post it on my thread (probably on page 25 by now.).

Saved to my favourites-- thanks. The faux fur is exactly what I found at Wal-Mart.

You might be better off copying the text and saving it to a WORD file or something, the images are already gone the information could come down at anytime too.
