It's the eyes and mouth that kill it for me. The eyes are too thin and squinty and just plain off IMHO. And that mouth.......not good. But hey, it won't be going in my collection, so if everyone else loves it, great! To me, a PF with a good paint job (and they are out there) is head and shoulders better than this....

What does a droid`caller look like?

Bespin Han has one on his belt as well.

Maybe it's for the "exclusive" floppy "Gilligan" hat and the goggles. :monkey4

Not my choice for exclusives. But we all have different views on that I guess. But yeah, I still did the PPO for this Luke on Friday. :D

I didn't say anything bad. I really just want to know why this figure is $10 more expensive than others?

Because Sideshow knows most of us would pay it? That's as rational or likely an explanation as I've seen yet.

Not only are $50 Star Wars figures a distant memory... I think it's unlikely we'll ever see another under $60 every again.

Can't be that. The regular without the DELETED SCENES Exclusive items is also $70. :monkey1

As MaulFan has shown, if they fix the eyes it'll be close to dead-on. It could do with more sandy-colored hair too.

With the amount of attempts SSC have had at Luke (6 in 2 different scales) they should be a lot more than "close" to dead on,even with a likeness like Hamill's that's proven difficult to capture over the years.
Like the previous sculpts this one captures elements of his features well but is lacking that something to really make it outstanding, unless it's the eternal problem of poor paint apps making it look worse.
The rest of the figure looks good,if the attire survives the production process without any loss in quality it'll be SSC's best yet and hopefully it's a good sign for future figures as if the price continues to get closer to Medicom and Hot Toys then the tailoring (among other things) needs to improve to similar standards.

Meh, $70 is nothing.

He looks good and comes with a lot of stuff. That is all I care.

I don't need excuses or a explanation.

I didn't ask the manager last night at Applebee's why the steak dinner was $2 more than it was 3 weeks ago.

Very good point indeed. :rotfl

i'm sure the reason for the increase is to fill the gap between SS and HT and Medi for that matter. it is still $20 less than the least expensive HT offering and at this price point that's a big % of the total price. if they had started out at this price i'm sure none of would have a problem with paying this price all along.

I haven't read every post in this thread, so this may be a rehash of what has already been discussed, but it looks to me like his head is a bit too tall. I did a quick alteration in photoshop to show what I'm talking about (the altered one is on the right, obviously). It may just be the angle the photo was taken at. I think this sculpt is pretty much spot-on for Hamill aside from this possible issue.
