I agree, but then again the proto's hair was too dark too.

The only thing with the hair, and I'll wait to see it in person of course, is not even so much the dark, but it doesn't even look like hair color, it looks like an odd shade that I've never seen a person's hair have. That said, apps look clean, and the eyes look better than the prototype to me.

I noticed no closeups too. I think everything but the paint looks great. Why SS can't get Old Ben/Palpatine consistency is beyond me.

A few thoughts from me:
1) I am very happy that Sideshow included the Stormtrooper blaster...can't have too many of those.
2) I really like the pics. I think the figure looks great in them. And the figures USUALLY look even better in-hand. I feel it is a "can't loose".
3) I think I may actually prefer that the expression be angry. That would be something a little different.

Not sure what you mean by that. Luke looks just about an exact match the prototype, maybe even better in the eyes.
To be fair we should remember that the prod paint looks almost identical to the proto. So should any of this be a surprise to anyone? Not to me. He looks exactly like the proto I ordered back in January.
Which has been the chief demand of folks since the line started, that the production piece look just like the proto and Sideshow's on a roll.
ANH Han looks just like, and even a bit better than the proto apps, and now same looks true of Luke.

Seeing as how they always look better in-hand than on SS's site, this bodes well, considering SS's pics look pretty darn good.
Yeah, I think you guys are right. It does look pretty close to the proto. Maybe it's just the hair color that's throwing it off for me. I'd still like to see a nice close up like this though.

looks good. i think the eyes look better from what little i can see of them. that was the one thing i didnt like about the proto.
