Toy biz was the best. I had fun going through the pics at thegd.

Agreed. I bought each and every one and have great memories of the hunt. For the money - the quality - and the range of all the characters they did - they make Bridge Direct look like garbage.

Sure wish they were still around for HOBBIT figures. I just cannot get into the Bridge Direct line and have not purchased a single figure of theirs.

I believe some of the employees for Bridge Direct used to work for Toy Biz on the old Lord of the Rings line. I read it somewhere but I can't remember where.

Also remember that Toy Biz made great leaps a bounds throughout the line. Anybody remember the 1st Sam and how limited the range of motion was for the first round of figures. Will Bridge Direct ever equal Toy Biz's grand scope? I don't think so due to the market being very different now but the few figures that they do put out in the 6" might equal Toy Biz's by the end of their run. The sculpts were pretty good on the first wave of figures in my opinion.

You are correct. Some of the folks at TBD worked at Toy Biz.

The Toy Biz figures were pretty cool. I've still got a couple left from the ones I had. I will say the figures TBD are making are pretty sweet as well. The 3 3/4 are every bit as good as Hasbro's SW stuff. The 6" figures are even better than the norm I think and as things continue they will get better.

I don't care for the TBD line so far, they just don't have 'that feel' for me like the TB. I still have close to 100 figs. ALot being Rohimrim figures as they are my favorite from the line.

Rainy day so I took some shots of my collection in my upstairs office...

(SSC stuff is downstairs in my tv/theatre room)

Fantastic. Take more.

Rainy day here to. Think we may be in the same province. Then again, I think it's raining all over Canada.

I'm on the East coast-- and it looks like rain for the entire week, but at least I don't have to worry about the water bill for getting my pool filled. Water is crystal clear and the pump's a pumpin'.

Here are some closer shots (I also have AOME in storage-- specifically the Helm's Deep set-up... I'd love to set up one from this line as well, as my collection suggests).

Peter (in bilingual packaging bien sur).

Very cool setup...I'm super jealous! I don't think Ive ever seen that Peter Jackson CARD that says "The Trilogy Director"? Where id you come by that one?

Thanks. I picked it up when we were visiting family in another province (NS) and I think it was in a Wal-Mart or a Zellers. I've never seen one again. I also have a Peter Jackson in the multi pack pictured here (he's next to Gandalf).

Very cool stuff Neil. :duff

Thanks Josh. :duff I've tried to keep getting my LOTR fix through the Lego line-- but they're just too damn expensive. :thud:

No problem. :duff They are for some of the sets. That's why I'm only getting ones I really want.

Same here (and same thing I'm doing with the Marvel and DC Lego stuff)-- I've bought some of the small sets and two of the Helm's Deep accompanying sets, but I'm really keeping an eye for the big Helm's Deep set at a good price. That's the one that I really want.

I didn't get HD because I opted for Moria. I bought the sets needed to complete the Fellowship. I did end up get IMG basically all of The Hobbit sets though.

Man, Toybiz was such a great company.

Well said...yes...they indeed had the perfect business model for making action figures with the collector in mind!

I miss them...dearly when I see new movies and new figure lines announced...

They were indeed a force to be reckoned with in the action figure market...wonder what made them 'go away'?

Awesome collection. That gift set with Peter is the only set except for some of the country only 3-packs that I don't have.

I'd love to have the room to have them all out again. I still have hopes of building a Helms Deep or Minas Tirith and doing a diorama that does the line justice. I think I have over 100 orcs, uruks and beserkers. So it won't be an army of 100,000 but I don't think any model I build will be to scale either.

The Hobbit sets are really tempting (I've only bought the Bilbo and Gollum little set)-- especially Bilbo's home.

Creating a Helm's Deep (AOME as well as the Toy Biz line) is my goal as well-- if only a small part (and I'll have to use some of those prologue Elves in gold armour in the display unfortunately as the Helm's Deep elves were hard to find). 100 orcs, uruk-hai and berserkers? Awesome. Love to see those displayed. I've just got a paltry number in comparison-- but I made a point of buying one or two whenever I saw them on the pegs (miss hunting the pegs). I always made sure though that I left any and never took the last one so that it'd be there for the lucky kid that came along.

Hasbro. Didn't that happen when they took over the Marvel Legends line (which I also love as my Show Your Shelves thread clearly identifies)?
