Don't be too hasty judging the Toybiz line as BAD...these have some GREAT detail AND some nice articulation...and were significantly cheaper!

Regretably, all my Toy Biz LOTR figures are in storage but I still love every one of em. It was an awesome toy line. They were highly detailed and accessorized -and affordable for everyone at 6.99-8.99.

Same here...but I am slowly working on pulling them out again, photographing them for TheGD.com and creating some nice displays! They still ROCK even in today's market...and they are 10 YEARS OLD!!

That's one of a few I have wanted for a while, good find. I haven't tried to hunt one down in a couple of years, but when I was on the prowl they did fetch a nice price since it was a more 'rare' figure IIRC and was in one of the last waves of the LOTR line. Just checked ebay and it seems to be going for around $23 to $30 for non-mint as BIN.

On card, seems people are asking $60 or more BIN.

ow thanks a lot for the news, i had no idea. my uncle gave it to me he works with a toy company and actually found it in a desk while they were cleaning and throwing things away from the office. I'll keep it for now and maybe wait for the hobbit movie to trade it or sell it. Like many others I' started collecting toybiz figures at first but when I found out weta and sideshow. that was something else ! I still do have some packed lotr ones but I ll keep them packed :p thanks again for your research :) i really do appriciate it

This is the line that got me collecting seriously. Now I have a huge trunk filled to the top with plastic 7" figures and I mostly only display 12" figures now. But I don't think I'll ever get rid of the old Toy Biz stuff because the little bit I could get for them wouldn't match the sentimental value.

Wow, I didn't know that figure existed! Looks like I may not be done with Toy Biz after all! :panic:

Definitely a figure that I would only buy mint and never take out of the packaging.
So cool that it says "Peter Jackson - Trilogy Director" on the card! :rock

Not sure why the LOTR fig's have had such a hard time selling. Even Sideshow (sadly) could not keep their line of 1:6 scale alive, really wish that one had continued.

I have most of the ToyBiz figures, heck, I even have figures from Toy Vault, wonder if anybody here has ever even heard of (Toy Vault) them.

I had a bunch of the Toy Vault figures, mostly because each figure was released in multiple variants. Still, I liked the use of real cloth for the figures' outfits. They gave us, what? Four or five different Frodos, at least two Gandalfs and a minimum of three Balrog variants. Did we also get an Orc? It's been so long I can't remember.

Their Balrog(s), however, was a little underwhelming when compared to the movie version.

I have 3 Toy Vault figures.

Balrog
Gollum
Galadriel

As was said the Balrog is pretty bad (I wouldn't buy it, it was a gift). But I really like the other two.

I have all the Toy Vault stuff. But after the movies and ToyBiz came out, they lost their charm for me.

Yeah, we got an Orc, it was Ugluk (I believe)

I had many of the figures, Gandalf, Frodo (3 different versions), Galadriel, Ugluk, Balrog (shadow, Fire), Gollum (?) and The Lord of the Nazgul. I had almost all of the figures, just cannot remember all the variants.

As for The Blarog, Underwhelming is putting it mildly. :)

Wonder if they are worth anything now? I think they were pretty uncommon.

Giving the Toybiz line a little love:

I sold all of mine a few years back. The loose lot included a Cave Troll so I did okay on the sale... The figures were nice, paint could have been better.... still a bargain compared to today's prices.

Some have huge modding potential. But the "buff" toy look makes some of them kind of bad for any modding atemps
