thanks for posting those photos. I love my ToyBiz stuff, I need to pull them out and organize them. They are awesome.

Some have huge modding potential. But the "buff" toy look makes some of them kind of bad for any modding atemps

If you're talking about the Toy Biz stuff, I have an interesting mod in the works. Will post pics soon...

You're welcome, and thanks. :)

Great figures.

Great pics GlennFett...I have some serious love for these figures...

You guys been to The Green Dragon...I have a pretty extensive library growing over there for the Toybiz line...some awesome figures!!

This line is what got me collecting back in 2001. Your site was the first one I went to on a regular basis for toy news. :duff

The toybiz figures had better likeness.
In many cases, that is very true. Toybiz used laser scanning, did they not? Makes you wonder why some companies don't use it more. I understand artistic freedoms and such, but with so many complaints about likenesses (esp on human subjects), you would think at least use it as a reference...or something.

The breadth of the Toy-Biz line was amazing! The variations on characters were Star Wars-worthy, and virtually guaranteed that everyone could have their favorite version. And the deluxe figures like Sauron, Treebeard, and the various trolls were out of this world. Add to that Neca throwing their hand in with a Balrog fit to be posed with the Toy-Biz line, and you had an LOTR lovers dream.

I wish the SSC line could have achieved this kind of success.

would love to get the mouth of sauron, the haradrim rider and the army of the dead warrior!!!!

Considering how heavily discounted these items are, I wouldn't think it would be too difficult for very little money. I know I have at least 2 of the 3 you mentioned, though since they are some of my favorites (from that line) I'm not so sure I would part with them. But I am sure you could find them on Ebay.

I'm in the midst of re-reading the LOTR right now, and I was thinking of revisiting this line. I never got ANY of the figures when they were out (I was kind of in-between collecting those years...), but now I'm wondering if I missed out.

It might be nice to have a Sauron, Gollum, the Fellowship, and a few others at least... Are they basically Marvel Legends quality?

My bro told me there were breakage issues on some... any advice?

Yeah, I've never had any breakage issues with mine and I have close to 100 of them. Some earlier figures (first wave of Fellowship ones) have had some minor problems (at least a couple of mine did), like my Sam in the Mines of Moria Figure's cape just doesn't stay on because of the way it was engineered for the figure. Other than that though....they still look fab. and some are almost 10 years old now.
