Anyone considered picking up Hot Toys due to Re-releases of previous characters?

but I do find the upgrading of DX's strange. DX is supposed to be the ultimate version, upgrading them makes the DX tag superfluous.

I agree. They botched that line and it's actually a fair representation of how their company operates on a small scale.

The DX line should have been 1 figure, 1 version. I was personally even drawn at one point to only collecting DX figures. Then when I saw it was basically the MMS line with fancy boxes and a dodgy eye ball system I didn't care for it.

They could have stretched their imagination out into the future a little with the DX. They could have come up - :

1. DX stands
2. DX display cases
3. DX upgrades for older DX models (think of the money they would make on re-issuing new sculpts and diorama's, I mean who pays $50 for a new sculpt?? - Bloody everyone that's who!!!)

All of a sudden you've got guy's rabid for anything an everything DX. An entire line dedicated to the collector and upgrading his collection.

Like I say now it's just another $$ cash in. I mean 2 Terminators 6 months apart??? Why?? :slap

Yes.

I'll likely get a Barney Ross if they ever get around to the re-release. I'd consider an Indiana Jones if they did a re-release that looked anything like him. I'd also consider a Leonidas. Barely passed on the Jack Sparrow DX re-release.

I bought the DX Joker re-release, and the DX Batman re-release. Didn't consider either original because they looked lousy.

Well, I was an early Hot Toys collector who has since sold his entire collection and is now glad to see that Hot Toys is redoing some characters because I can pick up new and BETTER versions of characters that Hot Toys was sort of shoddy with during their early days of learning. And believe me for you newcomers, it was NOT FUN putting these figures together, especially the original AVP Predators. They were such a pain.

I first saw the AVP Predators years ago and was SOLD. Got most of them, got all the Colonial Marines and the subsequent Aliens, Predator 2 figures, AVP:Requiem, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, etc. etc.

After a while, I was just able to let go and sold them. I missed them but I'm glad to see that Hot Toys is redoing them and they should. Not to defer the value of the older figures but they have come a LONG way since then so why not give new versions of some of the characters that made them so popular in the first place? Give longtime fans that more accurate Scar they always wanted and newcomers the chance to enjoy some of the early Predator figures (and others) that they missed out on!

Now if Hot Toys could work on getting us some good ALIEN warrior figures without any rubber problems? ;) I think that should be one of their top priorities!
