This is my thought too. Hard to believe that gore group sculpted this. I saw this in person at sdcc and moved on after 5 seconds.

Don't know man, seems that they cut corners regarding fine detail for this beast. And I've been waiting a long time for this bastard.

Yeah he's big, muscles are huge, pose is good, but where are all the subtle details that Gore Group is known & loved for? Large muscle groups are well defined but lack the subtle detailed striations that would have made this a true masterpiece. Especially the legs, where they are depicted too smooth/soft, lacking tension. Even the veining on arms seem to be pasted on, lacking that refined look. Hell, even details in face sculpt seem a little crude.

Unlike the fine subtle details in the Deadpool, Gladiator Hulk, Galactus, & even Sinestro sculpts, Apocalypse just seems too basic, & somehow unfinished. Gonna real try & love this statue, cause SS ain't makin another anytime soon. Just feel that after this long waiting period, SS had all the time in the world to work out & add all the smaller details this character truly deserved.

I agree. I want to like this and am planning ob getting hin but this feels uninspired and I'm not excited to order him even though I will. Misssed opportunity for something great.

Yeah, has that flat look you get from computer generated sculpts, lacking all those little details & textures you'd get from a hand sculpted master. Especially the great Martin Canale / Gore Group.

Still probably a get, but man, this should have been THE show stopper sculpt from all at con.

Yep, 1/4 is what makes Premium Formats now. No longer does a premium format have to have mixed media to be considered PF, but now they still can come with a particular statue if needed.
