Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

OK, I've just heard back from the master himself and it has been confirmed......the hooded and non-hooded facial sculpts are indeed identical.

O'well, there you go, bad photo skills... if only SS had shown one of the un-hooded images as a teaser, all this drama could have been avoided :lol

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

Great pictures, thanks for posting woodsy.

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

Lets not forget Tim, Andy, and Matt for sure. Plus SS has several others that are damn good 2.

Absolutely, and lets not forget Jeff Yeager, Steve West, Pablo Viggiano, and Martin Canale and the Gore Group just to name a few. But until someone can absolutely nail likenesses the way Trevor can, and do so on such a consistant basis, I'll stick with the opinion that Trevor is the best of the best. Besides, it was the great Andy B. himself who once said Trevor was the most talented sculptor he's ever seen....who am I to argue with him :huh

Thanks for the in progress pics Woodsy. So this proves once again what bad painting can do for a sculpt.

Unhooded or not, this is the best Aragorn likeness we have gotten except for the PF prototype which was flawless :monkey2

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

Yes, hopefully they make a Rohirrim Merry. :monkey3

:lol

However I must admit i'm a little gutted they're doing Osgiliath boromir insted of Fellowship gear.

I believe Frank is appearing at Yuk Yuk's 'til the end of the week.....:lol

I imagine a fellowship Boromir is in the plans somewhere down the road , but for now I think this is a great choice as an Osgiliath Boromir has never been done before, by anyone. Unfortunately SS's in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation. If they started with a fellowship Boromir we'd be hearing comments like "Oh great, another Boromir statue, how about doing something original for a change SS" or " Sorry SS, I already own the SSW statue and since they're the only one's who can capture the essence of Boromir 'cause they worked on the movies.....pass" :monkey3 Personally, I've gotta give SS credit for doing something different.

Oh don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree it's the right thing to do, for exactly those reasons. And I think it's a given any PF Boromir would be in Fellowship garb. I'm sure Osgiliath Boromir will look good anyway based on Aragorn, and i'm looking forward to it.

Absolutely. I was hoping this was the PF preview SS is planning for after SDCC, but then I remembered they also said we weren't going to see a Gimli or Boromir PF in 2010. :( Looks like it might an Orc PF previewing after the Morgul Lord...which is also fine with me! :yess:

I agree lets not forget them either. I guess for me though you cant lose with any of them.

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

I LOVE TREVOR!!!!

if we can be assured that he'll do ALL the maquettes, i may be sold on the whole line! Just hope a shop over here will take orders of them cos i don't wanna pay shipping/tax from America :peace

Now, to sell the SSW one to finance this :huh

lol i probably won't, i'll have both! Why the hell not!

Oh and i'd actually like a Rohirrim Merry to go with the Gondor Pip, so bring it on SS!!

Maybe that's why they call it a teaser. They just tease the hell out of us! :panic:

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

I dont have the Aragorn PF, so I might have to order this one later today...

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

Who I am kidding? I will certainly order this tonight through the newsletter. The cost is a little more than I expected, but I can certainly take advantage of Flexpay, and the penny pincher in me is finally swayed to get the exclusive through Sideshow instead of the 10% discount through a retailer. It has been so long since I ordered directly from Sideshow though, I am not sure I still know how!!!:wink1:

Re: Aragorn Maquette Teaser

Finally, had a chance to look at the pics and they're still not that impressive. For about $60 more, I can get a PF that is larger and has more design elements. The face sculpt looks much better without the hood, but everything else is just alittle "meh". Too pricey for what it is, IMO.

Plus, there's the Laker/Celtics final tonight and I probably can't be pulled away from that... :wink1:
