I have a number of LOTR PFs and a few of the SSW statues (RWOS, Sauron, Morgul Lord). I've never actually seen any of the other SSW statues in person. A short while ago, I purchased my one and only Bowen Marvel FS (Electro), which is approx. 14" tall. Compared to the SSW and SS items that I have, it comes off lacking the bulk and full look of the SS offerings.

I love the look of the Bowen statue, so this isn't meant as anything negative against BD, but it's got me wondering what the 1:6 scale maquettes will look like up against the PFs and, for example, the RWOS.

Yes, I did actually bring that point up (at least I think I did), that depending partly on the sculpt (maybe more the base then anything) and the look of the paint apps that SS go with, these new maquette's could look a bit out of place.

Not an issue for anyone new, basically starting with this line and going to continue, but for anyone looking to supplement their existing SSW items, it may not exactly work.

In some ways I'm almost glad that Aragorn is first, since I don't want him, but I'll get to see in-hand pics before what I may consider (Arwen) is released. That way I can judge how well these will fit in with all my current SSW statues.

I'm not sure what you mean. The maquettes will be 1/6th scale, but so were the SSW statues, including the RWOS. How could they be the same scale but come up lacking by comparison?

The bases won't exactly jive, but I don't see that as any type of major obstacle.

I've never owned a maquette. Are they more fragile than the PFs or are they made of the same thing only smaller?

Polystone, so same as the basic armature of a PF.

Yeah, too bad because I had high hopes for this line and Aragorn is a key character...I'll wait for the full reveal though...who knows? He might look better from diferent angles

The sculpt might be there, but the paint job is killing it. Big pass, unless the full reveal somehow makes this look alot better.

Likeness is off, in my opinion.

It's too bad. I was looking forward to collecting this line from the beginning. I'll know for sure when the full product is shown, but, as of now...EASY PASS.

Out of the 5 pieces including this one offered by Sideshow, the PF wins hands down in terms of likeness.

During the production videos the likeness seemed spot on.

Those sneaky dogs at SS! Here I was expecting a Strider/Aragorn maquette and they give us a Dunedain (or Ithilien?) Ranger instead. Looks great but I would rather have had Strider. Man, these guys are just full of pranks.

I think I'll be waiting for the full reveal, and hope it's just the angle he's photographed at or I'll have to pass here too. My wife has the PF so this is hard to compare because the likeness there is fantastic and the paint apps are spot on.

Yikes. If they can't get the eyes painted right on the proto I can't wait to see the final piece.
