Now that I've had a chance to look at all the pics, the added hunting knife hand on the exclusive really doesn't do much at all for me. Who holds a two-handed sword with one-hand and has a hunting knife in the ready of the other hand? I still got the exclusive, but will definately display with just the normal hand.

Fighting with a blade in each hand is not as uncommon as you might think, but then I don't recall Aragorn having both blades drawn while fighting at Amon-hen. Not to say he wouldn't. The elven knife is the one he was given by Celeborn, when the Fellowship departed from Lorien, and is actually no mere hunting knife. Even if it were, it would probably still be a pretty decent close-in weapon for deflecting blows from uruk scimitars, which from the way he's holding it, seems to be the idea Sideshow had in mind.

Don't have time to trawl through all the previous posts so don't know if this has been mentioned before. Whilst it seems obvious that this is from the scene in the Fellowship fighting the Uruks, the base says "Return of the King"....

Is it definately from Amon Hen or is that just an assumption? He might be in the paths of the dead or on the Pelennor Fields.

I have to say, it looks bloody brilliant!! Still won't be ordering though as PF ain't my thing, but good job SS

Andy you did an amazing job on this. I was so close to purchasing the Cinemaquette version, but this just blows it out of the water. My only concern is the factories paint job on the beard. I pray they do this one justice.

Despite the good responses, this is not a "sold-out-within-2-hours-of-listing" kind of item...

Being a "sold-out-within-2-hours-of-listing" kind of item presumes that Sideshow has already set the ES for the piece. For most PFs, they don't work that way. They put it up for order, and then set the ES based on how many people order during the first week or so.

That is very strange and a big mistake.

The order page of Aragorn says this:

So it's FOTR.

But the base says indeed ROTK:

You're absolutely right!!! I didn't even notice that before, the lettering is so small! It got by me while I was too busy looking at the figure. Maybe they had the base on hand for another project and decided to use it in a pinch, hoping nobody would notice...??? Just a theory, but you can bet this won't be the base inscription on the production piece.

Which sword is he wielding? The Strider sword or reforged Narsuill (sp)?

Strider, the green handle is indicative of that one, same as the 1/6 figure.

That would be his ranger sword and he tossed it in ROTK.

Anduril has a hollow pommel, and this is definitely his ranger sword.

Of course, Aragorn changes his shirt to a red one in Rohan, so this has to be from the Amon Hen sequence.

Hence -- the ROTK plate has to go.

Man, this is a BEAUTIFUL figure. As good as Lurtz, and I only wish the other two had been as good. And as the exclusive is rather dodgy, the regular looks very tempting...

But I still think I'll wait for Queen Arwen, should they ever produce her to such a high standard.

That seems like something that can and should be fixed relatively easily.

However, it seems that Frodo also had a typo on his base and nobody seemed to notice. I just looked at mine, and it clearly says:

I just went back to the order page to take a closer look at the description of the exclusive...

SIDESHOW EXCLUSIVE EDITION
The Sideshow Exclusive version of the Aragorn Premium Format Figure includes a bonus accessory: Alternate interchangeable left hand clutching his hunting knife.


I don't know why they called it a "hunting knife" either, but this sounds to me like you get both hands, the regular one and the one holding the elven knife. Probably safe to assume they'll be magnetized like Lurtz, so you can display him either way. I actually kinda like having the bonus hand option.

I have the UC version of this and it is called his Elven Hunting Knife -- it still works.

That base is rather peculiar, so much for New Line and SS' quality control?!

I'm sure there's just an assumption that being a ranger, the knife was intended for killing food and all where the sword was for combat. Shoot down an animal with the bow, then gut it and all with a hunting knife.

Yes, this one should've spent 6 more months in development hell.

Seriously, how INCREDIBLE would it be if Sideshow could come up with a killer LOTR PF like this one every, oh, six months?

Is that too much to ask for?

It seemed that they were doing exactly that, back when Lurtz was announced, but then the delays and the questionable sculpts that followed certainly made it seem as if the line was jinxed.

SO glad this isn't the case.
