I don't know many people who aren't huge fans that watch these movies for the human characters... in fact, most people (the general public) just see them as 'cool movies' and only care about the creatures.

Ok appart those characters, I mean come on, we are talking about the Colonial Marines and their cool hi-tech arsenal! how can you not find them amazing? Even design wise, they are unique. If thats how you see alien and predator movies then I don't think you're a real fan, since the source that drives the story of both franchises are humans, take Alien for instance with Weyland Yutani involved, it demonstrates us that the real monster here is mankind, and due to the company's greed for profit in bio-weapons xenomorphs are spawned which lead to killing. So I believe that it kind of motivates a fan of such franchise to collect other stuff related to the Alien and Predator universe, which to me are fascinating as much as the creatures themselves, depends from which point of view you guys see it.

I for one, don't care a lick about having any humans in my collection (and I don't) because the creatures are leaps and bounds (to me) more interesting.

Pretty much. On the silver screen, the humans rule. On my shelf, its all ET's baby!

Likeness is a big issue, and NECA has a worse of issue with that then any company I know....so, just give me more damn creatures.

Don't, "you're not a real fan," me bud. I'm a huge fan, but I'm more of a Predator fan, and pardon me if I don't look at Peter Keys, Poncho, Danny Boy, Sebastian De Rosa, or Eddie Morales as break through standout characters.

Sure, the marines are something special, but an Alien IS an ALIEN and a Predator IS a PREDATOR, for the most part people watch those movies and remember the creatures killing things, not so much the humans that got killed. Hell, when I was a kid and saw Predator for the first time when I was on vacation on HBO, I didn't remember any of their names, I just remember being scared to death of the Predator.

That's why I collect THEM and not the humans, yes, the human element matters, but to me, and other people (judging from some responses) seem to agree with me.

I watch the movies for the story, the story the human characters are as integral to the stories as the aliens/preds if not more so....however as far as collectibles go, I don't want to buy generic human characters especially when their are likeness issues with the headsculpts.

Oh dear. The dreaded 'not a real fan' reproach... as if there were some formal definition of what constitutes a real fan. Different people like the films for different reasons. Creature freaks just want to see a cool monster, but a lot of more casual viewers need the hook of the human characters. I think a lot of the reason that Alien, Aliens and Predator stand out over their successors was the very strong characterization that went with those films. They're not just monster movies.

Anyway, the USCM are the exception rather than the rule where the Aliens / Predator films are concerned; which is why Leading Edge, Kenner, McFarlane and Hot Toys have all done figures of them (and I can think of others, just from so long ago I can't remember the manufacturers).

OTOH, the other human characters are all quite generic, at least looks-wise, so it's not surprising they're largely ignored from a collectible point of view. The Predator cast have a lot of appeal to the military market, but I suspect not the others... I'll be very interested to see how well the Nostromo crew sell.
