Another question could be who all bought MGS2 Substance, and MGS3 Subsistence after owning the original games? Weren't they just the same game with a few added extras for close to new prices?

(I'm not sure I don't have them)

MGS2:S added some subtle (but inconsequential) additions to the main gameplay. But the biggest draw was the VR Missions, Snake Tales, Skateboarding (based on Konami's Evolution Skateboarding) Casting Theater and Boss Survival. MGS3: S added a HUGELY improved 3rd person camera, Online mode, Movie Viewer, Secret Theater, MG1, MG2 and Boss survival and more Snake Vs. Monkey levels. Most of these addition survived into the HD collection.

Definitely in terms of MGS as a whole. MGO was so addicting back then, I didn't care about MGO2 at all.

Oh man, I wished I had an internet connection to play MGO back then.

MGO and Resident Evil Outbreak 1 & 2 are my favorite online games of all time.

MGS 3 subsistence was the greatest limited collectors edition ever in my book period. Back when the term "limited" meant something.

Both re-releases had plenty of added stuff to justify the purchase IMO (MGS2 and 3)

Thanks for the info guys. Is all the content from Substance and Subsistinence on the HD collection versions? I never bought MGS2:S or MGS3:S but do have the HD edition with 2,3,&PW on it. I always wanted to do the skateboarding stuff on it. (I haven't opened my copy of the HD ed. yet)
Loved the old MGS VR Missions from PS1.

TLOU Left Behind is a DLC to supplement a game everyone have already paid for. Imagine if the first 2 hours of the main campaign of TLOU was released at such a premium price, people would have thrown a fit too regardless if TLOU is such a sublime game.

If that's the case then it's even worse. Imagine how infuriated some gamers will be when they find out the game they paid good money for something that goes cheap in.. a month. I can only foresee this going down in price almost a year after launch, and probably free around the time TPP comes out.

Granted, it's a reasonable and logical speculation that it would be short, but so long as it wasn't confirmed by Kojima it remained just that- speculation. Considering the asking price, no one in their right mind would expect it to be this short though.

Every game goes down in price extremely fast. I just bought Tomb Raider on PS4 for 40 dollars used (not enjoying it by the way).

Ground Zeroes is probably twice as long as TLOU dlc yet, they’re almost priced the same, DLC or not that price doesn’t justify a purchase.

And how many developers early on in development outright say how long a game is? Not many, this news broke almost 2 months before it is releasing and thats pretty fair. If Konami/Kojima wanted to hide the length of this game and didn’t want this news to get out they could have.

40 dollars is too much for this game, 30 dollars is fair, 20 is good. We all got raped by Konami when we bought MGR for 60 dollars. That was a 6 hours game that could be beat in like 2 hours. This a 4-5 hour game that you can get for as low as 20 bucks, and as high as 40. Seems to fall in line with all the other game studios ripping us off.

You know, I thought you guys were being overreacting a little at first. And I probably was being a little bit of a smart a$z by saying that I didn't care as long as MGS was on the title. But there's more and more reports of this game being extremely short, and it's somewhat bothering me a little now.
I took a glimpse of MG facebook's page and boy you were not kidding! I don't think I have ever seen fanboysim at that level... I'm NOT that bad. I refuse to be.
Even one of the freaking producers mentioned that his damn thing could be beat in 5 minutes. Even as a speed run, that doesn't equal for a very long experience.
PO cancelled at amazon. Refuse to be that fanboy that defends crap with zero shame.

Well, The Skateboarding from MGS2:s was removed, and so are the Snake vs Monkey, Secret Theater and Boss Survival. I'm assuming the skateboarding bits was too costly to port and word has it that Microsoft had a small role in the removal of Snake Vs Monkey. Secret Theater did no survive the port because the whole thing had to be redone if native HD, and that would be too costly for essentially some bad skits.

Most of these cats here are hardcore MGS fans for a long time. These criticisms came from genuine concerns regarding the series we all love dearly. I was kinda hoping that with the millions of MGS fans around, Konami/Kojima would find it in themselves to have the goodwill to price the game appropriately, but they didn't. I also feel sad whenever Kojima dangles something cool in front of us on his Twitter account, such as MGS toys, those lavish Kojima Production offices and whatnot, because he's ends up showing off and being less of a humble man he used to be. All that power and influence, you'd think he could make more people happy, but he seems to enjoy being worshiped instead.

I good part of us have been feeling negative about this game ever since it was announced and there has been plenty of arguments in here. But for the most part, everyone is on the same page now with GZ. TPP better be something amazing to makeup for this crap.

They need to rerelease those outbreak games.

Capcom hates what the fans think, and releasing them again is the only thing left in the series to maybe bring back interest. They're desperation is apparent since they're milking RE4 again for the millionth time.

AND they are probably re-re-releasing SF4 on ps4 and Xbox 1 as well.

Hmm. I attend evo each year, so I'm biased. I love SF4. But yes, they milk it excessively, that I can agree with.
The fighting community (myself included) is to blame.

Ok thanks for the info! I'd rep ya if I could. Looks like I'll eventually need to track down a copy of MGS2:S sometime in the future then as well. :)

Main reason I hated SF4 was how they animated everyone. I wish they would try to make them look more like Tekken I guess.

Make no mistake, the art direction shocked quite a bit of ppl in the fighting game community as well- but once you go past that, it's an excellent fighting game with very clever and complex mechanics. You come to get used to it.

It plays well enough, I just find it ugly. I hope Tekken X Street Fighter fixes that.

I think it's in development hell. Weren't there a lot of complaints about Street Fighter x Tekken's DLC? They pounded out DLC, they really milked the **** out of it.

The game is not really all that good IMO. Never really cared for that stupid gem system- and therefore the extreme milking- just search the psn store, an unlimited number of DLC available for that game. Shameless.
Hope Namco fixes that, if ever.
