when posters piss me off i just jump into the LOTR section. it seems much more peaceful there kinda like the shire. as for posting less, im actually trying to post more. i wanna be the top poster.:D

I just avoid it now, and I keep busy with repaints anyway so I can always just drop off and paint. But definitely do not disappear on us Josh, it's easier but you will miss this place and the group here. You'll outlast the negativity and the bad eggs and you will feel stronger for it.

This reminds me of my squadron in the Navy. When I got there we were a very unique group of crazy people, all together, working on jets and drinking lots of alcohol after work. Just a fun bunch of people.

But as the years went by, people came and went... And slowly things changed. I was no longer the new FNG jet mechanic that ran down halls naked and drank myself into a stupor. I was one of the older saltier Airmen, whom the younger guys came to for advice and a game of Halo. Things had changed and the time had changed me as well. It was different, and so I had to find new things to make me happy and to give me purpose.

The same thing happens here on the board. Once I was just a SW geek who came here to learn of new releases and talk to fellow fans. Now I am a customizer and one of the higher posters here. Times have changed again and new wars are springing up all around us in various threads. Only now I'm not as trigger happy and don't waste my bullets on grunts. I just move on and wait for someone who is really starting crap. A posting Insurgent worthy of my rage and time.

That's how I deal with it, so far it's going pretty well. I'm much happier and comfortable with my position on this board. :duff

Yes I'd have to say I am posting less 2. Why. Well for a number of reasons. The main ones being my collecting habits have changed.

With Sideshow producing less 1/6th figures than ever before, I've had to resort to Hot Toys and Medicom. I buy less, but it's three times the price. We have a distributor of Sideshow products, and I am able to get a sweet discount from my supplier. Now the distributor has Hot Toys via Sideshow but the prices are like $250 for an Alien Marine. That has forced me to get them from Hong Kong myself. Which means less money, less figures, less posts. Sideshow dropped their 'large range' of 1/6th figures for one main focus. As well as that, they have diversified so much, that even though they have more output, it means I have less input.

Then there's the times when you just wanna breath some air. The times when you've had enough of people, putting some simple remark you made down, and complicating what was a relaxed view into some kind of strategic battle. The times when a harmless remark is suddenly an invasion of someone else's space, that happens to be on an open forum and who's fault is that? :lol

I think what you are suffering from Josh is called being mind *u**ed. It's times like that you have to look on the brighter side. One day you just may have a brain child. :lol

I must admit, the negativity in the star wars section has made me sort of sick to be a star wars fan. Im more into LOTR and Marvel nowdays. It just makes me ashamed to be labeled a star wars fan when so many of them act like babies.

Just starting to cath up on this thread, currently finishing page 1. I think I can honestly say I've never even stepped in the SW section. While I love the movies and some of the products, not enough to comment or read about it. So now I'm really interested in seeing what you guys are talking about.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm not leaving. I don't think the folks that don't like me would know what to do if I did. :lol

You guys are great and what keeps me coming back.

Same posting as 3 years ago, keep posting Josh i dont collect as the old times  an i keep posting; remember problems always disappear :D.

:lol Ah Bodie,
I'm also posting a little less nowadays and reading more. I rarely ever visit the SW section so I dont feel any of those negative vibes some are talking about. I usually just stick to the places that interest me, my collecting habits and browse around. I go through stages where I post more and others where I really want to post like a maniac:lol
Glad your not leaving Josh, your a big part of the board:D

We have to have our Super Fan on this board, the one who's post count trumps all-even the Darklord himself, the one we rely on for info about Sideshow/pics from Cons etc. The Josh :rock :rock!!!

Don't let the annoying ones get you down, they not worth it.
Glad you sticking around pal :duff

When I first joined SSF it was because the Star Wars 1/6 line had just started and I was excited for it. I'm not so much anymore and so sick of all the crap going on in the SW section in general so I don't bother posting there anymore. Really gone off SW altogether anyway and am more into comic book stuff.

I tend to post heavily in the Doctor Who figures and TV show threads, since that's a current interest of mine and there's no *****ing and back biting there and usually look for items that will interest me in the general movie and TV collectibles thread like the DCD 13" figure threads. Obviously I spend far more time at MediWorld but I find I can enjoy my time at SSF more if I stay away from the same old boring arguements that riddle the Star Wars threads and concentrate on other stuff here I like. There are some very cool people here I enjoy speaking to and sharing my views with.

I'm posting less, both here and at Shadow & Flame. The reason is simple: I can't keep collecting at the rate I've been collecting. It's financially crippling and absolutely addicting. And these boards are chock full of enablers. :(

Every time I buy a premium format, it puts off one of my house projects. It prevents me from getting out of debt as soon as I'd like. And it gives my girlfriend one more thing to be frustrated with me about.

I come and go depending how school is going; here during break I have lots of time, as I do during the summer, but school makes it tough. I try and post as much as I can though, and I always try and keep a strong presence in the LOTR forum. I dunno, it's something I try and keep up with because I like it, but I always keep my priorities in order. If I disappear now and then, I'm just making sure my collecting doesn't run away with me, but definitely, getting my degrees finished takes up a lot of time. Right now they're my main priority.

I'm probably more active with my collection now then at any point, customizing, diorama building, posing, etc but pretty much its all been said and done before and even if I was to take pictures and post or whatever there are many posters taking better pictures than I could so whats the point in that.

As much as it probably pisses others off, the only things I find left to say that needs to be said are constructive criticisms which always get labeled as whines...which is usually the point that the SW threads get derailed (the name calling and the resulting defensiveness) rather than the criticism itself.

I think the natural course of things is that the most predominant posters (who have aired out their ideas so many times) need to step back and watch the takes and opinions of the newer posters (who may have fresh ideas) and then hopefully the old timers then have new thoughts and stuff.

That's exactly how I feel as well.... It's very hard to resist anything anymore. Everyone gets excited and it gets me excited and I want to buy stuff that I really don't need. And in turn it keeps me in debt and gives my wife ammo.

I'm just now getting a balance down, cutting down my costs and keeping it simple.

I had the same issue and I have to debt to prove it:lol

I backed way off on the number of line I collect, sold off a bunch of stuff and just focus on the few lines I REALLY want and have the space for. I am a much happier collector now.

I've been downsizing my collecting habits for pretty much the same reasons listed above, so there's less for me to contribute to any given discussion. I don't like being tempted to feel like I "need" any given product from any given line, and it seems like a number of posters try to project that vibe. I'm not into it anymore.

I sold my two Captain America PF's because I didn't want the stress of somebody sneezing next to one or bumping into one, etc. I hate feeling like my collectibles are actually important. I like the freedom of being able to let go of any given item at any given time without feeling like a piece of my soul is missing. :D

I also don't like owning things that would cost triple the price to replace due to aftermarket inflation. Let others obsess over polystone "grails", there are just too many things in life way more important.

Its still fun to post here and there and see what others are doing with their customs or collections, but I'm enjoying the peace of mind over collecting and posting less. And I don't want to be one of those lame husbands who's stuck online all the time. :)
