Deadline reports that Djimon Hounsou has joined the cast of WB's upcoming Tarzan as Chief Mbonga, a character that appeared in a number of Edgar Rice Burroughs' original stories. Hounsou can be next seen on the big screen as Korath the Pursuer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Featuring a screenplay by Stephen Sommers and Stuart Beattie, the live-action film will adapt Edgar Rice Burroughs' 1912 book "Tarzan of the Apes" but is rumored to pick up at a point well past Tarzan's "origin story," instead following the hero after having returned to and been assimilated by British civilization of the era. The action will then follow the Burroughs hero on a mission into the Congo under orders from Queen Victoria.

Alexander Skarsgård will star as the titular hero along with Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. Directed by David Yates, Tarzan is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2016.

Weissmuller and everything after were OK in their own right, but I've always found whoever they get to play the role has never really had the comete physical presence/stature. Still very interested and hope it turns out well.

is ARH going to make color art boxes for these new statues and better packaging? I would think not using the Frazetta art on boxes would be just real slack..what a waste..IMO

what would be cool if the art was on the box in a way you could cut open the box to make a background so it all looked exactly like the painting

I would never cut my box, I would buy a Frazetta print and make a background with it. The prints go for under $20.

this is a darn good idea.

yea but then whenever u wanna ship it or move it ur screwed royally…and id rather not pay anything extra instead of having extras thrown in and being charged more..

It is in fact the very best idea! Most of the art collectors have invested $$$ already on the art itself. Im sure they will not want a box art to frame :)

A simple art box is all we ask....no need for art boxes that fold into the great pyramids shape etc..:slap..and also you need better packaging...this way collectors can enjoy the statues for years..as they eventually change hands from collectors to collectors and shop to shop etc etc..statues will travel safer..your current packaging is designed for one way trips :lol ..I would pay extra to have an art box and stronger packaging that lasts long term

not that I resell any ARH Statues..but some do:dunno

XM studios already changing the game I see! People wanting premium packaging. ARH should just smite everyone and send there statues in plastic bags.

Ok I laughed when I read this :)
Indeed they are using supreme packaging and kudos to them for working this out

There are two factors that slow us down from going all out on the sytro.
#1 is each sculpt we do has to sell 500+ for us to even consider this. If I understand correctly XM CAP is 500 produced units at one time. Our Es's have been lower consistently. (This may change very quickly with Frazetta line)
#2 Our statues are much more complex than the likes of Cap and super heroes they are doing - we have for example 2-5 heads and 8-10 detachable parts that you need to fit in this same box, and I am not even considering the size of our statues Vs the Cap. Much more of the hardened and digital designed stryo is required per item for us to do this. This added all sorts of costs to the final product.

We believe the new design of our products should avoid any issue with brakes. Our % of returns is actually is very low, compared to what companies like Sideshow get back.
So far our biggest issue is not the actual box styro but the customs for the most part of these countries mishandling our products.

So why don't you juts make 300-500 statues and not only what you guys have on pre-order,Gives the chance to people to pick up statues that are still in stock on a later date.XM studios set their ES at 500 sold out or not.
