The painter ruined a great sculpt! I Don't think this painter is up to Sideshow's standards and should be let go! If the prototype's paint ap looks this bad can you imagine what the mass produced version will look like? One of the worse prototype I've seen from Sideshow..hoping for a dramatic improvement before the release

I'm confused, who said something about someone being fired? :dunno

I did..I don't think whoever this painter is is up to Sideshow's standards of excellence..Just my opinion:dunno I think the sculpt underneath the atrocious paint ap is dead on though :clap

Oh ok, you must have deleted that part before I saw LOL. :wave

Yeah, I edited it a bit cause it seemed too harsh on the poor painter :lol Just that this is the first time I've seen this maquette and was shocked by the paint ap  Can't believe SS is using these as promo shots..Someone has to correct this obviously flawed paint work :monkey4

Now, in regards to the paint I personally think it looks fine. The sideburns could be corrected but the paint looks fine. It looked fine anyways at comic-con in July.

Given the haphazard nature of recent Sideshow products, this could just as easily end up being a reverse of what happened to Rogue, with the actual production Arwen being better painted than the abysmal pre-production model. Anyway, that's what I'm hoping.

In the meantime, I'd urge anyone who is concerned to write directly to Sideshow and tell them.

At this time, the gods of QA would be the one we pray to. For the record, I can't think of any releases where the production was better than the prototype.

Josh could chime in as he's been around the block.

That's really subjective. I'll use Legolas as an example he looks a like what was at comic-con but some people have issues with the skin tone. Mine isn't tan but looks like again what I saw at comic-con so your mileage may vary.

So, do we think the "tan" skin is just lighting, or do we think that some are really painted tan and others are painted more pale?

I'm sure there are some out there with darker paint but I do think some of it is dependent on other things when taking photos. As a whole though I see far more that look great than any with a tan.

I always assumed the darker face was there to reflect what Legolas looked like while fighting at Helm's Deep (TTT). On my statue, it looks more like a mildly dirty face, not a tan.

I quite like this statue, but if i have to pay retail for it, as well as shipping costs to europe, i need it to look perfect, so if the sideburn issue is fixed, i might consider it to pair her up with Strider.
If not, my SSW Arwen and Elessar will do!

well it cant get any worse..unless they forgot to paint her face or something...

I think you might be right there...:(

One advantage of it looking this bad is that no one will be able to complain about "lack of QC" when it finally lands in collectors hands since the mass produced version can't get worse than the prototype :dunno

I'm not being a smart ***, but is this not supposed to look like Liv Tyler? Was there a licensing issue or something?
