Paint apps look great. My main concern is with the eyes looking slightly cross.

Pix, I didn't notice the neck area until you mentioned it. Do you think the hair and beard will help hide that issue?

Wouldn't fix it for me. Its the relationship between where his mouth is and where the shoulders are. Its not even just off by a little. It's off by alot. I am surprised more people haven't mentioned it.

Well now I can see it! Still until I actually see it in front on me and gave a chance to futz with it I won't really have an opinion on where this one stacks up. From the pictures I still think it has great potential.

yeah looking good in those pics, i'll be happy if he turns out like this.

Necks can be shortened. Peg holes can be made deeper. Still shouldn't have to is the thing. The production paint looks good. I personally am not a fan of the plastic belt.

Seems like I'm the only one not liking this...
The head is ok and looks like the prototype, except, unfortunately, for the beard, and the big problem of the long neck. I don't like very much the "nylon" hair, nor the belt. And especially, the fabric looks very cheap... Sideshow premium Saruman had outstanding fabric, with the right color (not pure white, but more beige).
Sorry Asmus, but we're talking about a more than 200 dollars figure, not a 60 dollar one... You have to pay much more attention to the quality of the fabric and details if you want me to continue to buy your products. One more time, I feel this looks more like a doll than a collection item. :(

That picture you are using for comparison is the Sideshow PF, not the Asmus prototype. But I agree with your point. This production piece is dumbed down. Grrrr. I am a bit frustrated by this.

Exactly how long is his neck supposed to be? This is another one that I will pick up with the full expectation that it will need to go out to a customized to get worked on.

Okay, looks quite good on this one. Will need to see some in hands pics to make an opinion. Thank you for the detail shots Georges.
:)

It looks pretty good--or good enough anyway. The eyes look a little crossed and his head does appear to be sitting too high up from the shoulders, but I'm keeping my pre-order.

Asmus isn't really bringing on the "WOW" with these production pieces yet, but hopefully we'll get that reaction with Gandalf the Grey, which I daresay is one of the most important figures to this line.

Hmmm I have to agree.
I'm really hoping I'll like this in person. I already paid for it in full and it's a must have character. I'm just not feeling it but it has potential.
I feel like the Asmus figures are really cool dolls, but not amazing high end collectibles. I just opened my Aragorn today and while there are some cool things about it, too much of it just felt meh. Paint scuffs on the nose, bent sword, poorly put together stand, cheap feeling fabric, loose joints...I really, really, really want to like Saruman. Can't wait for it to ship and hopefully prove me wrong.

@ Last 2 posters. Not trolling you and you're are certainly entitled to your opinions. I just can't see how someone isn't wowed by how this turned out. Honest question here. Do you have so many figures in your collection that you're actually getting bored with collecting and you just don't get the same excitement out of collecting that you once did? I will say the head does seem to be sitting a bit high. I hope it's just not pushed down on the neck like Gandalf was. Other then that and the belt looking loose I think this looks outstanding. That's my opinion of course.

Canadian Brian, sucks that you had some quality issues with Aragorn. Scuffed paint, bent sword, loose body, but again I think the figure is outstanding. I don't really understand "cheap fabric"? Again I wonder if you just don't get the same excitement from the hobby that you once did.

I may not be floored by the figure, but I'm still buying it, so clearly I like it enough to want to own it despite the flaws I perceive it to have (same as you, based on your comment). However, I will say that it's a common mistake to judge a figure by certain photos that don't always do a figure justice (photos taken in bright light don't always help) and that may be the case here. I'll probably be more excited when it's in-hand and futzed on my shelf in softer lighting.
