Beard seems to look as it should there. Can't figure out that photo in the box. No matter. Everything is right in the world again.

It really comes together when the hair is down around the side of his face . Good job ! I just hope to body in this guy is good quality .

It's like somebody put out that box picture as some sort of cruel joke.

yeah looking better on those pics, though im not sure about the shorter hair......

thats better, that box picture was really one of the worst ways to advertise a product.

Rooted hair with plastic beard is just weird. Why even do rooted hair?

Rooted hair is the only way that type of hair would work. If it was plastic it would have looked like a blob and hindered articulation.

Asmus hinted in the Merry & Pippin thread that they might be interested in selling an accessory pack of alternate head sculpts and gear. (Nothing concrete yet.) But I would be VERY interested if they would consider selling alternate heads for Saruman and Gandalf the Grey with sculpted hair. That would satisfy both the folks who want articulation and the folks who prefer the look of the sculpted hair.

But they've shown the rooted hair Gandalf at a toy show already. I fear the wheels on that may already be in motion.

This is why I'm wondering if we could convince them to sell both rooted and non-rooted heads.

Pff, whatever. I think people that bought Gandalf the White want that new headsculpt they promised first.

Yeah, I am one of them. Give us any good Gandalf sculpt. It seems there was no single tease of the new GtW sculpt, there was only GtG preview and something weird that they did not want to show at the fair.

I never said instead of the improved GtW sculpt. I'm one of those people. I bought that figure and I want them to do that, too.

They said they'd replace that head and I believe them. Every time Asmus has said they'll fix or replace something, they have. I take them at their word on that. If people are impatient on the speed of that, well, remember they don't have to do anything. The fact that they're even talking to us at all is a minor miracle compared to how almost every other company out there conducts business. So I for one hugely appreciate their willingness to offer upgrades and fixes.

But that aside, what I suggested above is a completely separate issue. What I'm saying is, if we ask, maybe they can please the rooted hair and molded hair fans on future figures by either A) including both rooted and molded heads in the original release (which would raise the base price a bit, of course), or B) offer the second head for sale separately.

You still won't please everybody (you never can in this hobby!), but you might please a lot of us!
