I’ll be picking this up since I missed the earlier version. The lighting here is pushing his eyes back so it’s a bit hard to get a good idea of likeness though. But I appreciate the update and ETA.

It's not the same angles but he is a quick comparison between Bean and this new sculpt. I'm still happy with my rooted V1 but it's great for people that don't have him yet.

I do get some Thunderbirds-esque vibes from his eyes

But that’s down to the lighting.

I think the forehead is a bit on the tall side as well but I’ve got to get one for my Osgiliath Boromir so can’t crap on it too much.

It’s not worse than the V1 so should do fine.

these are some pictures of my rooted v1... personally i can't see any improvement, in terms of likeness, on the new one... only painting seems a bit better on the v2.

This is an upgrade?! I have every Asmus LOTR figure but may have to pass on this disappointing work. Some deserve to be updated with v2. However, this sculpt isn’t a step forward from the existing Boromir and is a step back from more recent Bilbo and GTW. Forward, Asmus, not sideways or backward.

Sculpt/likeness is not perfect but the paint job and hair are improved over 1.0.
But I agree that Bilbo and Gandalf the White are superior and I would hope all releases would be the same quality.

It's painful to see this after GTW.....I had hope Asmus was becomming a serious contender......then they put out this.....so disappointing

I was disappointed that it didn’t come with the cloak update (or even the cloak). I am very happy that the boots look like the two piece ones to give it ankle articulation. I am an easy mark for LOTR 1/6 so I ordered one. I actually really like the first version so depending on how I feel about the head in person I might just swap it out for the old one.

Are these the same sculpts Asmus? To my eye they appear to be different?

He looks "okay" from some angles (I'm seeing more Bean in some of the 3/4 shots), but for the most part, this sculpt is kind of a shrug for me. Even in these pics with better lighting. I quite like my original v 1.0. The sculpt isn't 100%, but with some minor futzing, the hair can really sell it. (You gotta trim a few strands over the eyes and tuck some behind the ears.) But this new sculpt feels ... I don't know ... unfinished somehow? Like it's an early draft that just didn't get the time and attention it needed? If that makes any sense? The broad strokes are there, but the detail seems rushed. Almost like a caricature? Kind of? Plus the angle of his eyebrows are making his eyes look too close together, particularly in the straight-on shots.

I'll still pick up the loose head when they put that up for sale. There's a chance he looks better in hand. If so, I'll swap out my v 1.0. But if it doesn't, I won't be out much.
