In all fairness, they did tell us five days before Gandalf went live. Granted, maybe no one anticipated how quickly he would sell. But I wouldn’t call that a “panic”.

This doesn’t take into account the sudden realisation that it would be a polystone horse and figure set that will cost over $400, which needed to be paid upfront, no mention of it being a limited, one-time release that once sold-out would be gone for good, Asmus banning any stores who didn’t sell Gandalf The Grey from carrying GTW, the fact that stores who did sell GTG were unsure whether they’d be able to get any GTW after he’d been announced so, for anyone who might have shipping, customs & VAT charge concerns when buying from Asmus (or the US) and thought they could wait for their usual stores to put him up before deciding where to buy from- only to find that GTW sold out in a day and then Asmus said that’s it, he’s gone- yeah they’re gonna panic buy future releases unless those issues are addressed beforehand.

Not all collectors are as clued in as those who frequent these forums so the majority who only found about about Crown GTW the day it was announced would likely have missed out if they didn’t buy straight away.

Yes, it’s available in enough places now that most collectors around the world should have a somewhat decent option to get it for near the same price as it was on Asmus’ site but the lack of clarity during those first couple of days was cause for concern.

Since it is December this week, perhaps @Asmus can tell us if the horn of Gondor will sound this month as planned. Will Boromir be releasing? It would be great to be able to budget for the figure with the holiday spending in full swing.

I emailed Asmus and asked for a status on this, they said Boromir is finished and they’re working on packaging, will probably be released in December as long as no quality control issues arise.

Just for anyone planning on buying this.

Was it confirmed that Asmus would be offering just the updated head sculpt?

I have the original haired figure and it really does look great. If the new head sculpt is "Gandalf the White" level, it would really be the only reason to upgrade.

Definitely looks like an improvement. It's just the sculpt been updated? Or it's a whole new figure? I mean, I own the original Boromir and it's amazing. Just the sculpt falls a bit short in likeness. With so many figures in the pipeline, I'm not sure I'll get this one, unless it's a home run like Gandalf TW.

I owned the 1.0 Boromir and I do really hope they also upgrade/change the material of his belt.

I believe they had said only the boots and sculpt would be upgraded and otherwise it’s all the same, but I agree that a belt fix would be great too. If that’s the only flaw on the new one, I can happily live with it though.
