I think the complaining is just the way things are these days, not just with collectors. The hat is balls, yes that is true. Not having the hole in the staff is a very weird oversight, but is an easy fix. Otherwise this is a stellar release, you just have to futz it.
I know adjusting figures is not everyone's cup of tea but its pretty standard for a figure with soft clothing (vs say an Iron Man or something) so I enjoyed doing it.
I still hope for some kind of fix/replacement for the hat, but until then Gandalf goes hatless for me and I still am grateful such an important character (to me) has been so well realised.

Tamed the Gloss on the eyes by giving him a quick layer of dull matte coat.

Next will be the adding more hair to the eyebrows and mustache. Just waiting for my tibetan lamb fur to get delivered. Was supposed to be today but guess not.FB_IMG_1618010536780.jpgFB_IMG_1618010550485.jpgFB_IMG_1618010540289.jpg

You definitely futzed Gandalf's hair and beard. You managed to pretty much straighten them out quite a bit. I like the hair straightened some but the beard should be on the frizzy side, based on how he looked in most scenes in the LOTR.

Yeah you are right, I am still working on it. I like that his hair is more free now (it was too slicked down out of the box) but now he is a little on the L'Oreal commercial side, so need to mess it up a bit, and frizz up the beard.

I used some water on the robes too to make them hang a little more naturally. Nothing permanent, just tweaking.

Great work Rzeznikk! Lookin' good.

I'm a bit pissed that I gotta wait until Monday for this piece now, but what's a few more days after months of waiting. Even tried going just before close today to hopefully pick it up from the PO but was told it wasn't in yet even though it was supposed to be. :gah:

Can you explain how you did this? I'm really not a modder and would prefer not to, as I have no experience painting figures at all. I'm not very artistic. But that looks so much better, it might be worth trying.
Tiny brush and a steady hand. Wait to dry and move the eyes so you can get most of the area of the eyes that will be visible if you move them.
Excellent. What glue will you use for the mustache and where did you find your lambs fur?
Rocket glue. Got the lambs fur off ebay.

Very good, you managed to get rid of the extreme glossy effect.
Yet, I was wondering if there is a way to soften that deep black shadow which looks like an eyeliner from some perspectives.
Also, the shadow is so intense that the sclera sometimes becomes greyish, almost black indeed.
Apart from these things, the sculpt is great and the likeness is basically perfect.

GtG looking good everyone!!
Love the Bilbo with the GtG base too, that's how I'd pose it,or even with Frodo.
Defo need a Holm Bilbo

Thanks. Yeah aside from possibly modding the sculpt by removing the eyes to thing the layer where the fit in or sculpting brand new eyes like Dave did (both really beyond my skill set that I don't want to risk ruining the sculpt). I'm sure we will see more mods that will fix that in the future. I look forward to seeing what people come up with.

Yes we definitely need Holm Bilbo. The base would be perfect for that version.
