I believe someone said a former employee of weta went to work for either Asmus or ACI.

Either way the figure looks amazing so far and yes if you look closely it is Gothmog and probably Aragorn.

I was thinking Aragorn might be the second one given the tunic. I'm not sure if I'd drop on rebuying the figures Sideshow already released. I think they had issues, but all can look great with a bit of work.

Speaking of which I really need to paint Boromir, nothing will fix the funky hair. But I imagine he'll look stellar with a repaint :lecture

Yeah, I'm not interested in getting newer versions of the same figures SS did. I have them all still and they are fine.

However, Asmus would be smart -- and probably is -- to give us a version of Aragorn that we do not have, even if its just the slight modification of the battle-ready Aragorn with the Boromir vembraces, etc.

Beyond that, I hope Asmus sticks to characters outside the Fellowship... other than Gimli, Merry and Pippin.

But I also agree that Asmus would be better off offering GOTHMOG next, keeping up with expectations after Witch-King and getting us locked in to the line. "Monsters" are simpler than human likenesses... and with HT level expectations, Aragorn is going to be harshly received no matter how good it is. If they bobble the likeness on Aragorn, people will start to move away for fear the line will be inconsistent.

I'll be looking to upgrade a few parts for the existing SS releases, or perhaps add parts in some cases.

I worked on Gandalf last night and added a bit more padding to the midsection. I think it looks just about perfect now, but if Asmus did a GTG I sure would be all over a new belt. The SS one is just horrid.

Yes BUT I hope they find a way to sneak in Boromir's cloak. Having the nine member fellowship at some point would be nice as well as having a post Lothlorien group. We will need Aragorn's knife and sheath for that. I don't know how hard it is to track down SS' cloaks so throwing in a Lorien cloak here and there wouldn't hurt.

I seem to remember the 1/6 ToyBiz GtG having a surprisingly nice braided belt. (One of the only good parts of that figure. :lol) You can probably pick one up for cheap these days.

Yes, I used the Toybiz belt on my GtG too. I think their Ringwraith came with the same belt.

already have a great 1/6 aragorn ss exclusive version and don't really want gothmog. gandalf the white, gimli and the witch king for me.

I have Sideshows Aragorn but if the one Asmus is doing is a knockout like the Witchking looks like it will be I will definitely get it. Same with Legolas. I have Sideshows but if Asmus decides to release him I will get him to. Not happy with Sideshows. Very happy with their Gandalf and hobbits though.

I don't know if I'll get Aragorn or not. If its from the Black Gates then its a for sure. If its Strider I will probably pass unless I'm blown away. I might pick up a shirt on TA or ebay though and use it on my Strider from SS.

I'm guessing it will be a Helms Deep version based on the small part seen in the image of the Witchking...but would be fine with a black gates version too!

This can't come soon enough! So eager to see the quality in hand, everything I have seen so far looks amazing.

WANT NOW!

Head and shoulders of Gothmog are at Witchking's feet in the full body shot.

I'm not positive that's Gothmog but if it is then that would most likely be Aragorn to the right.

I tweaked the image a bit. Definitely Gothmog on the left, and probably Aragorn to the right (from the characters they already announced, this seems the most likely choice)

His mouth in the lowest part of the helmet is open in some pics and closed in other pictures. Any of you have noticed that?
In the film it is closed, buy I prefer it a little opened. What do you think?
