No idea what pre alpha means? But that looks quality. The change in setting is very welcome!

Re: Assassin's Creed 3 announced

My thoughts from this trailer:

Gameplay looks EXCELLENT
Graphics looks EXCELLENT
Story looks OFFENSIVE

I'm planning on getting this game, but i really don't like the fact that every single human killed in that trailer was a brit. Not one american colonist, not one native american, only brits

I get that its the story and time period, but i was under the impression that he'd be going against both sides, perhaps not equally but both nevertheless, all that trailer did was provide an incredibly bias stance :dunno

I'm not saying the revolution should've failed or anything like that at all but from this trailer the situation isn't any different than a game with an assassin killing only american soldiers in the vietnam war, the soldiers are just men doing their job.

As an american, i bet you'd find that unfair and be uneasy about it.

There is plenty of games that show american soldiers getting killed. There's plenty of games that show German getting killed. Connor seems to be fighting more with the Rebels, so it would make sense for him killing red coats.

like i said i get it, it's not desirable but not something that'd stop me buying it, but not many of those game show ONLY one nationality getting killed, that's my only gripe

Just so I'm clear I'm not singling you out I'm just trying to make a point as I've seen this point raised on pretty much every article or forum related to this game.

Almost every interview with the game developers has made it clear that we will be fighting against both Colonists and The British throughout the game. Assuming you played the last four games you will have killed Christian Crusaders (most of which were English)and the Saracen Soldiers who were fighting to defend their homes as Altair. As Ezio we slaughtered countless Italian guards and noblemen as well as beating up the pope in the middle of the Sistine chapel not to mention the Ottoman and Byzantine guards in Constantinople.

It seems that no one had a problem with that but now that we see a native american killing some British soldiers the story is suddenly offensive.

The amount of backlash that Ubisoft received on the official forums was ludicrous and some of the things that made me ashamed to be British especially when this is the only mainstream game i can think of where the British have been cast as villians.

It just seems silly to start getting offended now when no one got offended over the last four games.

There is plenty of games that show american soldiers getting killed. There's plenty of games that show German getting killed. Connor seems to be fighting more with the Rebels, so it would make sense for him killing red coats.

I agree completely with this, within the context of the game Connor is fighting for freedom, it makes sense to kill Red coats, the colonists at the time wanted freedom from the British and considering that one of the main goals of the assassin order is the freedom for the people to choose how to live it makes complete sense for Connor to aid the colonists in their fight.

Re: Assassin's Creed 3 announced

:exactly:

And what happens 50 years down the road? The americans that the rebels died for turn around and force natives like Connor out of their homes.

What would happen if this game was set in the 1800's and you played an Southerner assassin killing Natives? There would be 0 backlash.

Re: Assassin's Creed 3 announced

As someone of German heritage, I'm VERY offended that all WWII games have you killing Nazis. (insert sarcasm)

Re: Assassin's Creed 3 announced

Hope Hot Toys would consider making this figure but I doubt it since metal gear and resident evil are more popular. Well it would be nice if at least play arts made something

Just admit it you're upset that he's killing the brits. That he is taking out plenty of the guys who I'm sorry were the bad guys of the time. It makes sense that he would be killing most of them and only maybe a few of the other side. If they're going to stick to a pretty balanced representation of actual history then this has to be the case.

In a game series where the main characters are assassins that murder unarmed targets you choose to get offended now because British soldiers were 'just doing their jobs' ? As opposed to the thousands of Italian soldiers cut down across Ezio's 4 games?

I would have no problem if another game was made with this character and he was taking out soliders as they tried to force them out and out west.

The fact of the matter was the Brits during this time period were the bad guys and after that became good guys (see WWII games). No reason to be sore about it. :peace

Re: Assassin's Creed 3 announced

Didn't know if I should post this here, but I wasn't sure if it was worth starting a thread for it yet.

For Vita players:

Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation announced for Vita. It's a full-fledged AC game.

Last week online retailer Zavvi listed Assassin's Creed III for the PlayStation Vita, suggesting that the title will be release October 31. No details were given then, but today we learned that the title is called Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, and will be launching alongside the console version this October 30th._

Aveline, the game's protagonist
According to a NeoGaf user, who got the information from the latest issue of GameInformer magazine, Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, being developed by Ubisoft Sofia, will take place between 1765 and 1780 in the ending period of the French and Indian War.

You can expect the gameplay to be typical of the Assassin's Creed series, with more emphasis however on ACIII. Players will be able to hunt wildlife, such as Alligators "on the banks of swamps and beneath murky waters". Liberation will take players across New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico. The game will also have a multiplayer mode.

Liberation will feature a female protagonist named Aveline, who's mentor is an escaped slave named Agate; a leader of the assassins in New Orleans. Aveline is said to be from French and African decent, and her experiences will not be connected to Desmond.

More to come during e3.
