Makes three of us. I love this series and glad to be jumping back into it shortly.
I can live with the crossbow and the occassional wristgun shot, but we don't really want to turn AC into a shooter do we? And I think they have to avoid full on battlefield scenes. The civillian crowds, sword play, and climbing are all essential elements that I would doubt could be maintained if they went to the 20th century.
What I'm saying is F the story arc. IMO it was a lame element to begin with. Does anyone really care about the Abstergo story?
The game would still be a good game without the scifi techno babble.
Why not bring Red Dead Revolver to modern times...? LOL.
Going to the modern times will kill the uniqueness of the game.
I for one like that so much of it connects to the modern times. It adds a certain chill factor when they talk about Altaiir and Ezio, or the Templars, and connect them to Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Ghandi, Tessler, Napoleon, and other historical figures. All that is relevant because it leads to what Abstergo is up to and the control of power in society. It is really an amazing change of pace than the normal gameplay of the videogame and you lose all that by just living in the past. Actually being a character in the future adds another dimension, and it works out because the creators spend so much time and are so resourceful in bringing an entire world of ideas together.

The last two games have been great. Nothing wrong with them at all IMO.
In what modern-times game can you climb buildings, take people down with a hidden blabe and use eagle vision? It won't kill the uniqueness at all.
I still need to complete the last one. However, this one is on my Christmas list.
My problem is I've been playing Dark Souls and will be playing Skyrim. Those two games alone could keep me busy for months if not the entire year due to the amount of time I get to play them.
In what context would that work in modern times and why would we want to see the scenery?
Climbing atop a KB Homes manufactured subdivision doesn't really inspire as much "wow" factor as climbing buildings in 15th century Italy.
And why would a guy walk around with swords in the 20th or 21st century?
I'll grant you that they would keep the hidden blade, but would they replace all the other weapons with machine guns, making it a shooter?
Get on it already. I'll be picking this one up next week at midnight.
Yeah, those two games seem to be popular but with all the games that have been coming out and I have to play mixing them all in is a challenge.
