A really nice technical breakdown of IMAX vs. Dolby. Having watched it in both IMAX 3D and Dolby I *absolutely* concur with his assessment. AWOW in Dolby 3D HFR may be the single most eye-popping thing I've ever seen on the big screen. And yeah the sound is second to none.

I posted that video a couple days ago...

Dolby Cinema is always the way to go.

Bummer. I'd still recommend HFR though.

What small out of the way village do you live in again that doesn't have premium cinema. ;)
:rotfl

It’s possible that the Fandango descriptions are wrong but Real3D is the only option that says HFR.

Dolby Cinema only says Dolby Cinema not even 3D.

To make matters more confusing there are listings for Real3D with HFR not mentioned!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Ok Fandango had 1 Imax screen in my area that is showing 3D/HFR!

But Dolby remains non 3D and non HFR…:gah:

That sounds like the winner then. I swear the HFR immersion has to be seen to be believed. There are many examples I could give but one in particular was an over the shoulder shot of a sub pilot looking out the front canopy while chasing a whale underwater. I swear it literally felt like the entire auditorium was underwater and we were just looking out into the ocean depths at this massive creature.

It’s in a bad area :gah: :slap

Aw crap. Then my recommendations are:

1. Drive out of state (lol)

2. Stick with 3D/HFR but in a nicer area.

They didn't actually shoot anything with real IMAX cameras so technically you wouldn't miss out on the native experience.
Hold on I gotta kick the annoying panhandler out of the vestibule be right back.

Jump from one cinema to the next for the entire day!

One fine Saturday in 1999 that I'll never forget...I paid to see "The Iron Giant".....but I stayed for "The Sixth Sense" and then "American Pie" and then "Detroit Rock City." I didn't care that I was by myself...it was the best day of theater-hopping ever!

I've seen heaps of movies by myself. I used to live near a local, non-chain cinema that was a lot cheaper than the big chain here. On some days I used to just watch two or three movies a day. I had to pay for every movie though.

Well, now that I'm a grown adult and more responsible, I pay for movies on the rare occasion I actually go out.

My last awesome theater day was back in 2019 in Japan....20th anniversary screening of The Matrix, followed by Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, wrapped up with a special screening of Blade Runner Final Cut on the IMAX screen. That was another amazing movie day....but reallllly expensive.

Apparently avatar 3 is going to release the same day as sonic 3 .

I think we all know the outcome of that situation

Also the first appearance of shadow? Expect atleast a billion on opening day . Cameron will be flabbergasted
