It must be nice Dusty. I'm blind, an idiot, and don't know quality. You just get a polite agree to disagree and a smiley.:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

I never called you an idiot. In fact I think you're one of the brighter board members on here. You're an idiot for making that comment. Nah, you're not an idiot at all.

Blind. Check.

Ignorant to quality. Check.

Idiot. Nope.

Cant believe the negative reaction this is getting, i think it looks amazing and Cameron knows how to tell a story

I think most peoples negativity is coming from what we were supposed to be seeing. Aside from the character design, which I don't like, I don't think it looks bad in comparison to what's been put out in the past and what's out currently. My negativity is only about what we have been hyped to believe this project was going to be. In the end it looks be nothing new.

Actually, some of the animation shots I have seen is unsurpassed and I am a hard critic when it comes to the technical stuff since I do a lot of that in film school. This isn't exactly what I was expecting, but I can definitely see some of the hype that Cameron was talking about. If anything we are spoiled with such great advances in animation and technology that even a small leap in anything is not worthy of a "WOW" from our generation in this day of age.

Cameron is a great story teller, and all his films entertain and very rarely does he let us down. In fact, I don't recall a time he has. Someone will probably remind me. Either way, I have faith in the guy. But for we all we know, this could be a hot heaping mess of diarhettic crap. Yes, it's not a word, diarhettic. Can it be?

Maybe what makes this different from the rest which it was sort of made out to be has something to do with the 3d part too. I personally think before we judge on the visual side of this we should see it how its supposed to be seen fully and not on apples website.

Nail head hit.

Why is District 9 getting such rave reviews? It's told in an interesting and new way, has great character development and keeps you on the edge of your seat ... and is not self-righteous in any way.

Avatar, while technologically astounding, looks to be the same-old, same-old big budget blockbuster, told in the same way that everything else is told. Of course, we don't KNOW that yet, but the teaser trailer certainly sells it like that.

I personally have faith in Cameron as a story-teller, and believe he will find some way to make Avatar stand out (other than through technology). But will general audiences give it that chance, after seeing this teaser? That is the question.

I do think District 9 is a game-changer. It woke audiences up out of a stupor... just imagine if Transformers was told in a similar fashion, instead of typical blockbuster fare? Keep all the insane explosions and awesome alien robot fights, but tell it from a different perspective and it would be even better!

Update.

Ok upon like a zillion viewings of the trailer in 1080P HD, I have to say, I am impressed and going to be impressed. CGI fest or not. It is amazing.
And I can see that I will get into these characters. I like that female warrior already!
Cameron is bringing us to a whole new world. Pandora.
I'm pumped now!

I think that's a fair point on your behalf, but going back to my 3D comment earlier I do think it's a big deal because it's not been seen in this grand scale before. We can't really tell if it's going to be good or bad from a teaser trailer.
I still can't believe that Jackson has said the Hobbit is not going to be in 3D.

The main character did the whole "Jeff Goldblum Fly thing"... but District 9 was a great flick. Definitely my favorite movie of the year. That, Drag Me to Hell (no thank you, Heaven is where it's at!), and the Hurt Locker is my choices for films of the year. I am finding that foreign films are usually the strongest ones out there now. Small foreign films. I love City of God. Didn't someone say there was a sequel?

Thanks for those images, Sithlord1975. I can't wait for some SUPER hi-res photos to turn up. I can tell the detail on those faces are meticulous. I bet if we have some hi-res shots, we will be able to see even their pores (which can be somewhat seen in the second and last shots you posted.)

Thought the trailer looked amazing, I have a ticket for 16 mins of footage tomorrow evening so am even more psyched about seeing it now :D

at the end of the day CGI will always look fake....... :) I cant name one film where the CGI looked 100% real and believable.

I can see humble and pie in the near future. This is going to be ^^^^ing a huge success at the box office. Just hope I don't need a fork for that pie LOL.

I'm not watching the trailer. This is one of those movies that I know I will appreciate more going in fully in the dark.

Good Will Hunting was all CGI . . there now you know

I KNEW IT! I KNEW BEN AFLECK WAS COMPUTER GENERATED! No way that guy is real. Whew. I can sleep well at night knowing that a real person is not that robotic and lifeless in the real world.
