And never say never...

Yeah, but in today's society that doesn't stop people from rolling out when they get bored much less when their wife is 70 and looks like their grandmother instead of their wife when you're 45. I'm just betting he leaves at some point when she really starts to look old.

of course he'll leave :)...It's Hellywood! plus nothing more than fascination till the next hot (maybe older lol) chick comes along

Yeah just because you are making a movie with a female lead, does not mean for one second that you need to have a female director, or a female writer etc.... it is indeed pandering, and right now theres a little too much of it going around
100% Agree with this!

I am a little sick of the need of racial or sexual diversity. To be fair though, I really dislike female directors, because every single film I have seen with a female director is atrocious. Not saying they correlate, but until I see some really amazing films on the woman's belt, I'll completely ignore any sexist rants, for now, I just want someone great to film, someone great to direct, and someone great to write.
Avengers was hardly mediocre. It wasn't Oscar worthy but it was good, fun and entertaining which is what I go to the movies for.
For the time it was amazing! I loved it, I haven't seen it in a few months, but I certainly liked it enough to see it 12 times in theater. :lol
On an unrelated note: This movie is rumored to be 160 minutes in runtime, thats 2hours and 40minutes
Awesome! :yess:

If that's true, it's only 15 minutes longer than ASM2 :monkey3
Old man and young woman. :)

Old woman and young man. :(

There, I said it.
But it's true. :lol

A male director/male writer is not necessarily required. If a female director is able to deliver a final product (film in this case) that has a compelling narrative, characters with depth, and something that will resonate with the audience, then who cares what the sex is? To say or imply that males should always be behind the directors chair or writing the script for female leads in films is simply sexest and has no bases. No, there should not be any pandering. As long as the final product delivers, it really does not matter.

In the case of AoU, I hope that this will be something that delivers. It would be a nice surprise if this turns out as good as GOTG and WS.

Partially my point actually.... the person should be hired based on their merits and not their gender, race or whatever.

Kathryn Bigelow is a great female director....
