I'm still surprised that so many people expected this to surpass Avengers 1. ESB made a fraction of SW's massive box office. If the OT came out today the saga would have been rebooted before ROTJ. A1 may very well be the better movie than AoU, I'm probably too biased to say. I loved the Twins and was very put off by how Cap was handled in the first one so it's hard for me to step back and just appreciate it for what it is. AoU all the way for me.

I don't think anyone really expects AoU to beat TA in domestic box office anymore. However, AoU does have a really good shot at beat the global BO of its predecessor, the international numbers are through the roof and hasn't even released in China yet.

I know Cap isn't as popular as IM but apparently his shield really lends itself well to apparel. When I went on opening day by far the most common t-shirt being worn in the audience were Cap shields.

Mine, too. Saw tons of Cap shield shirts. The majority of the people in my theater, if they were wearing Marvel gear, were wearing something Cap based.

I'm cool with it. There are so many other characters and Scarlet Witch is the more interesting of the pair, but I did really enjoy Aaron Taylor Johnson in the role. It's shame he won't get more material in the MCU.

I get that they want a death to actually be a death for once, and honestly think they should have gone that route sooner. HOWEVER, I would not do it with Quicksilver. He is one of the most important Avengers there ever was, and had a stronger connection with the Inhumans (one of the MCU's forthcoming films) than any other member of that team. Even Black Widow would have been a better choice, IMO. Obviously they're doing their own thing, and we'll just have to see where they go from here, but the comic fan in me hates a decision like this, and though comics obviously shouldn't dictate every decision here, they do matter.

Regarding Marvel Studios vs. X-Men, I think both do action well generally, but both had misses along the way. I would not rank the Wolvie/Deathstrike fight over Winter Soldier, but I probably would rank the Nightcrawler scene over it.

I guess you guys are right, just look at all the dynamic super kinetic action on display from these super powered beings:

:yess: :yess:

If only QS had big ****s he would still be with us. :(

PG-13 Wolverine and BW out lasting QS, what a mess all these movies are. :lol

As a major Black Widow fan, I'm glad they've given her such prominence in the MCU and get a little tired of always "hearing" someone suggest her as the most expendable. Of their current characters, I don't think they made a mistake in going with Quicksilver as the death.

The Nightcrawler scene was very cool in X2 and one of the best scenes in the X-Men movies with a Mutant using their powers, but doesn't come close to beating any of the fight scenes in Winter Soldier for me.
