It was actually one of my favorite shots of the film!

I've said it before too, but the scene particularly did not work for me because Captain Marvel was the center of it all. She did not need the help of everyone else there.

Agree, Captain Marvel simply could've retrieved the gauntlet from Spider-Man and fly off in a hurry given the urgency of the situation.

If for example they switched the gauntlet bearers to Gamora and Nebula, my tone would change.

Those two going against Thanos would have a thematic purpose and would definitely need the others' help. Nebula getting help from others would be character growth for her as well because she had always been going off alone.

Neat idea! If that were the context, the scene would be more impactful.

To be honest, any scene with Captain Marvel was bad. :chase :mwaha

Say it ain't so! :monkey2

(Kidding :lol) While I enjoyed Captain Marvel in EG, I felt she came off as a bit snooty in the beginning of the film, after she rescues Tony/Nebula and is with the team. But of course she wasn't given much in the film and it was filmed before her solo movie, so she felt underdeveloped in contrast.

I rolled my eyes but maybe us blokes are so used to being pandered to that we don't even recognize it as such. I mean that cool moment with Cap, Iron Man and Thor - our 3 manly big guns - walking up to face Thanos.....

Now even in light of the above what still bothers me about the girl-power scene was the coincidence it required that on this immense battlefield every single female Avenger happened to be in close enough proximity - and be otherwise unoccupied - to all converge at that particular time.

Much agreed! Of course for me personally I liked the scene, but it does feel contrived. The scene with Wanda, Okoye and Black Widow in IW worked much better.

As a picture it is really good, however as a scene in the movie it wasn't feasible and definitely felt forced. If they could have done this more organically, such as them gathering together at the start of the battle, it might have worked.

Agree on the Wakanda scene - much better and didn't fell forced!

I never even noticed it in the movie, to be honest. I went completely catatonic every time Brie Larsen was on my screen, so I don't really remember any of her scenes except the one where she's all bitchy to Thor.

@Zurdo95D
She was poorly written in Endgame - felt very shoehorned in.

Agreed, I wish she was better written in the film, but even then I was still happy to see her in it albeit briefly.

My interest in the MCU overall has dropped significantly since the end of Phase 3. Sure NWH made heaps, but most of that went to Sony and that wasn't because of the MCU and more so of the bringing together of the three Spider-Man movie universes. DS2 will do well, but I'd be surprised if it got close to NWH.
Consider in 2021 there were four movies and five TV shows and while there were some great moments, overall the average quality was far below Phase 3. Pandemic or not, the box office was mediocre, and NWH made more money than the Disney only movies combined.

I'm in a wait and see mode here. Box office-wise, MCU films usually stayed in the 500-700M range for the solo flicks. I think it will start to pick up now that the pandemic is leveling off and we'll get to the more established characters.

I feel the same, Love and Thunder is really all I’m looking forward to and mostly due to it being by Taiki Waititi rather than being an MCU movie.

I really do hope it picks up quality wise, because I want to continue to like it.

I am an avid manga reader and one of the things that I like about them over American comics is that they almost all end and rarely overstay their welcome as they reach their natural end - I believe Endgame was that point for the MCU (and I really like both Far From Home and No Way Home). I really can't see how it can possibly ever be better than what came before it, and they only reason it is continuing is because Disney can't help themselves and milk the cow until they ruin what was once great. There will be the occasional gems (like The Mandalorian <Star Wars is similar> and No Way Home), but the overall quality will never be the same. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt I will be.

I'm not as hardcore a Marvel Studios fan as some others here, but have enjoyed just about everything they've done, and don't see any evidence that things are going to get dramatically worse--I suspect Eternals was an aberration and figure they will learn from that. No Way Home was great, and I thought Hawkeye was really fun. I'm very much looking forward to the X-Me. . .er, X-People movies, as those were my favorite comics as a kid. That opens the door to Deadpool, the New Mutants, X-Factor, etc. And now with Moon Knight they may be more willing to really dig into darker characters and stories such as Blade, Daredevil, etc. One of the richest franchises in Marvel is the Fantastic Four, but they've only barely scratched the surface with those stories and characters (Skrulls being the main thing). Dr. Doom, Galactus (and Silver Surfer), Annihilus, Super Skrull, and of course, Puppet Master and Moleman. . .There is a wealth of story possibilities from the comics that can still be explored.

But the most important thing is having good, compelling stories that are well told. They've got Waititi, James Gunn doing one more, Sam Raimi now coming onboard. Again, Eternals was a miss, but bringing on Zhao was a good thing and reflects their willingness to recruit top talent and challenge the status quo.

Ok I figured out how I can enjoy Endgame more... Watch most of the phase 4 crap and then be amazed at what a quality film this is :lol

So I have finally watched Endgame for the first time since its theatrical release.

Oh I have watched many parts of it. Being frustrated with the ***** slapping of Hulk and all the Captain America ****. But tell you what.. Now that I can see this really was the end of the Marvel Universe. Well except for some quality prologue films like GOTG 3, SM Homecoming and NWH, and even Dr Strange MOM. All of those films kind of wrapped up the characters I cared about (Hulks/Banners story ended with EG)

I have had a love hate with this movie. First viewing hated it. 2nd viewing I enjoyed it much more... 3rd viewing.. I just could never get into the film again. Al the stuff that I hated the first time just kept creeping back into my mind.

But this the help of phase 4 the 3rd time was the charm.

So I was much more forgiving of the issues I had before. Just watching a quality Marvel movie when the OG cast was treated with respect and directed well was such a breath of fresh air after the abomination of phase 4.

Things I am much more accepting of now.
1. Cap getting all the attention did not bother me. I was much happier with his ending now that I know this film was really the end of all the Marvel films.
2. Still not a fan of Iron Man dying. But thats just me not liking the downer Ending.
3. Thanor being a mustache twirling villain. Im good with that now that I have seen what a blah main baddie they were trying to push with phase 4.
4. Hulk.... Well I look at this as Banners happy ending. He was the only character whose life was worse before the snap and actually got better after the snap. Kind of neat to think of it that way.

I still think the time travel is kind of lame. I think the film is a tad long. I think the action is only OK and there is not much of it.

But the characters are treated with respect. Yep even Hulk. After watching She Hulk lecture him about how easy he has had it compared to her I realized what true disrespect looked like :lol

Apparently the final battle with Thanos takes place today, October 17th, 2023?

That's what nerds on twitter are saying. I wasn't aware the movie was so specific.

But seeing as how the movie establishes that you can just time travel to wherever you want and do whatever you want, then what difference does any of it make?
