This is absolutely superb! Star Trek is what got me into collecting in the first place, and I can tell you, that is a thing of beauty. When you show this off, you will have an amazing story to tell your friends and major bragging rights. It's always heartening to hear about people overcoming setbacks, tackling a challenge, and meeting with success. Had you simply trashed this out of disappointment, you would have regretted it. Bravo!! :clap :clap :clap

Looks incredible, Avenger, great work (and even better considering what you had to go through to reach this point).

And you wanted smash it? This is so brilliant job!

And I must show you this

I hope you will like it ;)

Ship is officially glued/sealed up now. Have some more light sealing around the saucer to do, but this is what it's looking like now. There's a good chance the next pictures will be of a finished piece. Just the touch up, decals, and hooking up the power cable in the stand to go.

Good god bro! Now imagine how devastated you would be had you destroyed this. Man, this is stunning stuff!

oh good god I feel like the first time I was in awe seeing a Hot Toys figure, this is just giving me a geekgasm .... can I tried you a bunch of figures? :p

AMT and ERTL merged I think. It may just be AMT these days. If yours is newer, it might make for a better build than what I have. Mine is a repurposed fiber optics model kit from the 90's.

I miss TNG too. Not as hip on the new movie as most are. But, things change in order to stay around. :dunno

I tried to build this, pain in the ass and the hobby drill bit it came with broke and at the time I couldn't find a replacement so I just abandoned it.
How did you deal with ruining the wires to the nacelles through the struts? The kit said to just run the wires through channels in the struts and cover the wires with modeling putty and sand smooth. Terrible solution, mine looked like crap afterwards. :(

You did such an amazing job after your mishap, great to pull through and finish so well! :clap

Mine has arrived but somehow it I just..... I want yours!!!!

lol I think that looks great. And you didn't have to build it. :lecture

Thanks. I actually did what the instructions said. I dremmeled out channels through the struts to get to the nacels, and covered them wiht putty when done. It was a pain, but went better than I expected.

Update: Done with the ship and ready to do the decals. I ran some decal tests with some I don't plan to use on a mod decal sheet. I don't like how the Testors clear coat is wrinkling them, so I'm going to get some Micro Sol and Micro Set and see if that helps.

Almost there. The ship itself is done. But, it's a bit front heavy and tilts forward on the support rod. I need to work that out, and it's finished! I know a guy that does professional photography, and has all the equipment. So, I'm having him take some shots which I will pass along later. But, for now, here's a couple. This thing is really photogenic. If you look at the reflection on my monitor in the first picture, you can see the real red and blue color tone of the nacels. The camera always washes those out because of how bright they are. But, the reflection nails the real life color.
