Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

If this movie failed to put a huge grin on your face you need to just accept the fact that you hate superheroes.

I never said it didn't. :dunno

Like I said in my review, I liked it and was overall satisfied. But, it didn't exceed my expectations with the exception of Ebony Maw being a badass for what little time he was on screen and the return of you-know-who.

My only serious problems with it were that the pacing was awful (at times) and the entire Avengers vs. Outriders battle was just as messy and migraine-inducing as a Transformers movie.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I'm so glad that...

...Ant-Man didn't appear in this film. He's such a boring character. :lol

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

The movie is fully worthy of my hype because the business layer underneath is called capitalism and the outer later was thrilling as ****!

I’m curious was BvS the only movie in this genre that you liked?

Do you even still like it?

The business layer is a fun fact I guess, and yeah yeah woke capitalism stuff, but deserving of hype? Okay.

At a point, BvS was interesting enough for me to support, I think JL may have ruined that for me and I just got tired of all the DECU altogether.

I do find the psychology of people who hate everything to be very interesting. Like literally everything is bad no matter what.
niBBa what? :lol

Things are bad when they're bad, Jye.

Honestly it’s got to be torturous knowing with 100% certainty that you will hate a movie before even going to see it because inside you know it will never meet a self imposed standard.

That has to be very depressing and debilitating to live with that.
Double what? Why are you projecting like this? :lol I even said I was super hyped after Loki croaked.

That's a way to cope, I guess, I just never thought you'd use it on me Jye, even Hype-Jye, irrational as he has shown himself to be today.

Now do you recognize that you can actually make the movie better had they hired you as a consultant
Yes.

or do you fantasize that your version of the movie would more than likely be 100% worse?
Nope.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

It’s only April but this will probably be the top movie this summer

Sorry Solo and JW

DP2 will probably be the second blockbuster followed by AM & TW

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Would make the post credit scene more sensible

its like, the ones gone are new, the ones stayed are ones that might wanted out of contract. something like that, i didnt see it yet but the rumor goes that strange will flip stuff out and those are gone for a reason. really interesting rumors are going around

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I will never understand how someone gets out of this movie and say “meh”. As a comic book / cbm fan. Why do people go into MCU movies expecting The Godfather or a No Country For Old Men Kinda movie. Give me another movie that that combines multiple franchises after a decade and having the main villain win. This movie for me lived up to the hype. It was a rollercoaster ride more than a movie sure. But you cant deny this **** wasn’t impressive lol. The only thing that would be a mistake is if they brought back the ones that died bot by the gauntlet.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Give it a couple weeks the more honest opinions will start pouring in just like star wars , civil war , age of ultron. It's somewhere in the middle of the pack for mcu. For now the hype is just infecting people. With the run time and the lack of any real direction towards the end this won't be one people are constantly rewatching

Nah don't agree.. I hated AOU, TFA, and TLJ right off the bat.. This is no AOU, TFA, or TLJ.

Still don't get the hate for CW.. Personally find that weird.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Jaws, you liked it much more than me. I thought it was very meh...I was just bored during most of the movie and felt no tension or suspense and just did not care what happened next. A bit too much of the GOTG comedy in it too, which I cannot stand.

It's towards the bottom of my Marvel list for sure. I miss the Phase 1 days when each movie had a great and memorable score and took itself serious. Oh well.

At least it wasn't as bad as The Last Jedi, which is still total trash IMO.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

regarding Gamora...

do you guys think they will actually keep her dead or find a way for her to come back? I think Loki and Heimdall are dead for sure.

I could see Angela in Guardians 3 if they don't revive Gamora.

I don't think she's gonna stay dead. I don't think many will stay dead - Heimdall maybe, because he used the last of his power.

Agree w. Clown Prince tho I didn't feel anything re Gamora and Thanos at the end. Really wish they had gone with another
story line for Thanos like wanting the Stones to also reach Hela or something.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I remain optimistic for A4, but at the same time have mixed feelings on it because...

...Captain Meh-vel will apparently be a big part of it, and I have no investment in her as a character so I'm skipping her movie.

I will remain cautious...

Her movie has Lee Pace back as Ronan and Ben Mendelsohn. Reason enough to go. I could care less about Captain Marvel herself. It'll be like Wonder Woman empowerment all over again.

Yeah we usually see eye to eye on these things but not with this one.. Still 99% ain't bad :lol

Never found myself board except for the Thor hammer forging part.

I have grown to enjoy GOTG more because I watched it with my kids and they loved it. I did not get the hype with the first one but when I watched it with the kids it all made sense :lol

But yes.. IW was much better then TLJ no matter what :)

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Other then The Empire Strikes Back I have never bee more excited for the next installment of a film. Yep that includes LOTR.

But we know they will with their respective sequels already announced. Too much money lost to kill them off for good. I'm sure something will happen to Cap, Stark, and/or Thor. They've been around long enough and the higher-ups at Marvel have been talking about cycling them out for the newer heroes for a while now. But with their deaths/disappearances/departures saved for the next film and these newer heroes "vanished" here, it essentially removes any tension in Infinity War. We know the ones that survived will leave. We know that ones that vanished will return. There's no impact here.

I mean unless you count Loki or Heimdall. I'll miss the latter, but I'm glad to see the former finally gone.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Like blond Scarlet now i can sleep well much better then TLJ nightmare.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Saw it this morning and I absolutely loved it. Action packed the whole way through. Didn't want it to end. No it wasn't perfect, as no movie is, but I seriously have no complaints. Everything unfolded exactly as I hoped it would. Hard to say if it's my favorite MCU movie, but will most likely be the MCU movie I watch the most times over and over again.

Some of the complaints seem odd and are all over the place. Like I said long ago people who were commenting that this movie was a one shot and not a 2 parter cause The Russo Bro's said so? I don't know how anyone actually believed that since IW & A4 were filmed together and are to be released exactly a year apart and originally it was announced as PT 1 & 2. They only later changed it that each A3 & 4 would have a different name instead of Infinity War PT 1 & 2.

And that all the death in this movie is permanent. We know for a fact it can't be just by the announced forthcoming future MCU movies. I'm surprised so many here aren't fans of the comics. He wiped out half the Universe in the comics too. And of course just like in the comics something will happen in A4 that reverts time and brings back the heroes and the other 1/2 the universes population.

I felt it was quite obvious why Strange gave him the stone and asked in return to keep Stark alive. Obviously that's a part of the path to the only successful outcome he saw in all the future timelines.

And as I think someone said, I do believe little Gamorra was meant to be the embodiment of Death at the end. He did not have the infinity Gauntlet on in that scene. I believe it was meant to be seen as his death was indeed at the hands of Thor. But Death will revive him as he did indeed accomplish the task he set out to achieve.

Too much to talk about. I'll let others do that. I just know I walked out completely satisfied and in awe at the spectacle and enormous undertaking I saw on screen. Never would I have ever thought, as a comics fan since the 80's, that I would ever see anything ever play out like Marvel did for the last 10 years on the big screen. Kudos to Feige & Marvel. Can't wait to see Captain Marvel & Avengers 4. After 10 years I am just as excited all over again. No Marvel fatigue for me anymore.

I just wish WB/DC had the same foresight to make the DCEU even remotely as epic and interesting. Rather than just trying to latch onto some of the new comic hype..... Such an epic fail on their part. :(

I meant the ones NOT killed by the gauntlet. The actual deaths. Those i expect / hope not to return

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I'm still thinking about the incredible performance by Josh Brolin. He was incredible and set a new standard for villainy.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I actually enjoyed TJL a lot more...first DC universe movie I enjoyed. I’ll give IW another shot at some point but just didn’t feel it that much. I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it like the first Avengers movie.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Ok here goes. It’s rather long sorry.

Let me get the major problems out of the way first because this is what ultimately almost crippled the movie for me.

Marvel just doesn’t have the balls to even kill characters who’s acting contracts are expiring lol

The lame disintegrating deaths on characters who have movies coming up in the next phase was just silly, zero stakes.

Snapping a finger quick disintegration death is fine for some it is the Infinity Gauntlet afterall but ONLY if you also included a face to face beat down death that would be brutal and have impact but NOPE! FAIL FAIL FAIL!

Russos’s said Hawkeye was on an important mission. So important it was a throw away line that didn’t sound important at all. I’m now fully convinced that Renner had a fallout with Marvel and how about Antman’s absence his upcoming battle with Ghost is going to seem silly after not helping with saving the earth, very bizarre happenings going on there.

I knew right after the Doctor Strange movie that the time stone was going to hurt IW for me maybe even almost ruin it. I said almost because thankfully there were plenty of positives to help tip the scale.

So Thanos can use it to get what he wants but not DS who used it so effectively in his own movie! Did I miss an explanation why DS couldn’t use it but Thanos could? Having the power to reverse time was lame in STM and it remains cinematically lame 40 years later, just lazy story telling.

My wife is stronger than Drax what a waste of a character he has been in the MCU.

Black Panther wasn’t given even ONE great battle against the BO. Forget Thanos not even against the BO! Not even ONE battle to show off his skill set very lame 2 movies in a row now where he isn’t a bad ass. This is actually a big deal to me that Russo’s failed BP! What hurts the most is that they actually had a great build up for him to showcase his abilities especially when they showed him running faster than his troops which was so freaking bad ass BUT then it stopped there because what followed was just a blur on his contributions to the battle. Boooo!

Bucky was another total waste he actually fared even worse than BP he didn’t use his arm even ONCE in a cool manner.

Some of the GOTG humor was bad as usual.

Umm hello Valkyrie wtf.

Lack of Hulk on the battlefield grrrrr. Why why why, did Universal set a time limit on his usage? I agree with JAWS that killing BW in 4 will be a great reason for Hulk to go nuts.

So i’m guessing 4 will be where all of the “contractual” deaths take place? But it will also reverse back all of the disintegrated deaths, so lame lol

What a lame way to introduce Capt Marvel especially for people who have no clue why she should matter. Really bad.

Not movie plot related but did Evans also have a fallout with Marvel because no one is buying the “on broadway” excuse for NOT ATTENDING THE BIGGEST MCU PREMIER EVER!

As I think of more problems I will post them

Ok now onto what I LOVED!

Ummm can you say Marvel fixed their villain problem now holy crap lol Ledger Joker is still king but damn if Thanos wasn’t amazing. Yup better than Killmonger.

Thanos/Gamora dynamics! Damn was Gamora brought front and center or what wow.

Gauntlet/Stone utilzation was perfect!

Great opening with Hulk fight with armored Thanos (hence why Hulk didn’t really hurt him as someone had complained about).

Loki using Stark’s “We got a Hulk” line from Avengers 1 very very VERY cool.

Doctor Strange going from really lame in his solo movie to holy crap scary powerful and bad ass in this! Thankfully he more than made up for Bland Panther’s neglect.

Thor! Loved his god confidence against Thanos, Hemsworth must’ve bitched lol

SW was NOT underpowered in this she was a beast at times.

BW bitchy confidence attitude against Proxima I LOVED IT!

Ebony Maw against Avengers nuff said

Proxima face and demeanor she was scary psychotic at times loved it.

Loki’s death.

The huge armada rush, yes my jaw was on the ground like everyone elses!

The battle on Titan just freaking WOW WOW WOW WOW!

Hell just the action set pieces across the board from NYC and Wakanda!

Stark’s PTSD reaction to the alien ship arrival and NYC public running screaming.

I was ok with the BO not getting a back story you understand them by extrapolating from Gamora’s story.

WM/Falcon are bad ass! Loved WM new armor loved it must have now!

Last but not least holy crap Red Skull as the personification of death or so I think he was.
Just OMG moment that Weaving came back after vowing to never do so. How much did that cost Disney! Truly a grand jaw dropping moment I was blown away and super happy to see him! Finally closure took long enough sheesh!

At the end I almost thought that Gamora child was now going to be the personification of death during Thanos’s vision.

Cgi on Thanos.

Does anyone else think Thanos’s reasoning and motivation for balance could’ve been reverse engineered where by wiping out half of the universe he would bring back his real wife and children as in making him a hypocrite or is that too much like Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin lol Actually’s he’s already a hypocrite he thinks his own life is worth having around while on a mission to cleanse over population.

Honestly when you think about it what the Russo’s pulled off here with this many characters is nothing short of a small miracle. JL with 6 measly characters and 1 villain is a joke of a movie.

The audience gasps and awes! Really was shock and awe lastnight!

Avoiding spoilers was really super stressful i’m getting exhausted from doing that but i’m happy I did. There’s always a heavy price to pay if you want to get the full enjoyment of these types of movies.

Ok so there you have it.

Major problems but ultimately enough greatness to save the movie for me.

So this was an IW Part 1 afterall oh Marvel you little tricksters you lol

Agree about the post- *SNAP* -casualties but even so...

the Spidey/Tony death got me. Even knowing it'll be reversed faster than Josh Trank's career.

That's a testament to the actors and long-form storytelling.
