One thing I do not understand is the concept that it's okay for us, as humans, to judge others. I am a Christian and IMO the only person who should judge us is God. I do not understand how so many of my Christian friends can be so judgmental towards people who are different. So I can see why the current "religious" debates can get under people's skin.
"Judge not lest ye be judged." One of the most misunderstood verses, and a favorite of advocates of moral permissiveness.
God alone judges Salvation ... and you will never hear me speak definitively about the Salvation of another. It isn't my place, and honestly, I don't know the answer.
However, according to Christian doctrine, humanity is permitted, and called, to judge actions. There is a clear right and wrong with regard to behavior, and to simply ignore or whitewash such behaviors as "different" is to ignore that which defines Christian morality.
However, that being said, I believe we are granted free will for a reason. People have the right to choose their own path, just as I have the right to choose mine. They have the right to think I'm wrong, and I have the right to think they're wrong. Final judgment is not mine, but judging individual actions based on my values is certainly within my prerogative.
In short ... I am permitted to think someone is behaving immorally, and they are permitted to continue to do so (so long as it doesn't break the law, in which case men with guns will likely stop them from doing so).
