Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

here's what so extremely bizarre about this whole thing, right now the biggest market is really the Asian markets. China is one of the biggest markets and they can save a movie from flopping at the box office. you would think Hollywood would be desperately trying to fill every single one of their movies with more asian actors. you would think they would want Lex Luthor or Aquaman to be played by an asian actor, you would think that half of the Avengers cast would be asian actors... I mean, follow the money right? but they dont... they barely hire asian actors for little parts or extras. why is that?

They actually make specific director cuts that's aimed China. Iron Man 3 did that as well as some other films.

Sorry, I didn't feel like arguing so I took the easy way out :lol

:lol :lol :lol

Yeah, I expected that too, but... which is a shame, since they could've tied the Sanctum with Merlin and King Arthur, by having it in Europe. I was working on a Doctor Strange fan-fic back in the day, and I figured it made sense to have Sanctums in places that great civilizations and well known civilizations rose. And like in the film, each Sanctum would have its protector (that way you can use Doctor Voodoo, Scarlet Witch, etc, etc). They kinda did that, but the locations weren't that well thought out.

That would have been cool.

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

In SJW Land, Asians are the most related to "whiteys", so they are often passed over. They could've easily done a Shang-Chi series for example, but they went with Iron "we don't have money for the mystical stuff so here's Daredevil but worse" Fist...

so Hollywood cares more about the feelings of the usa SJWs than to cater to fans in Asian markets.... like, how the f- did we get to this place ? :lol

We're talking about the same society that's applauding the current Black Panther book, when it has turned its main hero into a bumbling bufoon, its inhabitats into rapists, and is riding the "opressed womyn" coat-tails, while ignoring everything that made the character great in the first place. And all that 'cause a "woke brotha" is writting it. Meanwhile, Priest, a black writer who got sick of being given only black characters to write, came back last year, has given us one of the best Big Two titles of the last few years, and yet is nowhere to be found when the Tumblrites talk about "gr8 c0mix not dominated by whiteys".

Like I said, whatever diversity happens, it has to be in US terms. And in US terms colour trumps ethnicity, so...

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

Some groups have a louder voice too.

I've noticed in the US no one gives a **** about Native Americans.

I mean, even the media still calls them Indians sometimes

Yeah, Marvel came out with a Red Wolf solo, but because a white guy was writting it, and not a Native, people went ape****. it came and went, got cancelled in 5 issues and nobody gave a **** about it afterwards. Meanwhile, nobody is saying "hey Marvel, why don't you dust off American Eagle", and that's why the screamers don't know jack about comics...

That would have been cool.

That it would, that it would...

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

Well, China has their own market, just like Bollywood. They're not hurting for representation when it comes to movies :lol

Still, Hollywood does cater to them a bit too. Like I said Iron Man 3 and few other movies have made specific cuts just for China, and even the character Blink in DOFP was chosen just so she can appeal to the Chinese market.

I think if people step back and look at their own posts they'd see they're just as sensitive and unreasonable as the SJW's. There's no middle ground anymore.

exactly..... they rather spend millions of dollars and add scenes to a movie for that market instead of hiring an asian actor to play hulk or aquaman or whatever...
think about what you are saying... they rather shoot EXTRA scenes and spend more time and money than make one of the superheroes asian.... you dont see how strange that is? these are the same people bragging about being progressive?

what i personally hate is the hypocrisy and their double standards, i hate that the people bragging about being progressive are some of the most racist. i hate fake diversity, and it bothers me to see the double standards in hollywood and the sjws.
ill accept diversity when i really see it. like in Suicide squad as much hate suicide squad gets at least they had a REAL diverse cast

Spending that money makes them a lot more money in the process.

China isn't crying for representation, adding those extra scenes are for no other reason then making more money.

There's no winning no matter what you do, Rogue One had a variety of Asian actors among others groups, people on here were complaining about that.

Every country has its own cinema and represantation. But when you're about to be diverse, then I expect you to do more than increase a character's melanin.

As for the traditionalists v SJWs debate, the difference is that we're content with what already exists on the page being translated. Im not American, I don't live like these characters, I don't have the same worries as them, etc, etc, yet I still like them. Same goes for the rest of the world. We're not throwing a fit because say, Hulk isn't Italian. We just accept the characters as they are, look at their costumes and actions, and "stick" with them. Black Panther is as far removed from myself as humanly possible, but I still prefer him over Hulk, who looks exactly like me, and has a similar backstory (none of the abuse stuff thankfully).

PS: Diversity done right is say, Black Sails. The main character is revealed as gay in the second season, and the whole reason he does what he does is because "he hella gay", to put it more dramatically. People didn't rage, because the clues where there and it was a natural progression, not a stunt, like Iceman's outing. Same goes for Midnighter, etc, etc. Folks have no problem with Black Panther, a genius king with years of feats, but loathe Moon Girl, a character with less than two years of appearances, who by the moment she appeared, had Marvel announcing in every solicit and and article that she was smarter than every other character. I wonder why...

Re: Batgirl - Written, Directed and Produced by Joss Whedon

I hope they make a Moon Girl movie soon. Such a great character. Hopefully they make her a black transgender who identifies as a plant so we can all relate to her/it.

That's my point, almost every country has their own cinema, America is diverse though, so Americans want diversity in their films. I personally don't agree with that. I'd rather they hire the best actors for the role, that's where I differ from most of the hardcore fans. I think pandering to SJW's and pandering to the fans can equally harm the quality of a movie.

It's just that SJW "diversity" is nothing but mirrors and smoke.

I only started watching the show last year but completely forgot about this. It hasn't been touched on since...otherwise I wouldn't have forgotten...

Anyway carry on.

Really? I thought that it always played a part, especially in the current, final season. And considering the final episode...

I'm not arguing that though, i also made it clear I don't care about that way of thinking when it comes to casting in movies, obviously you do, but you want more focus to be on other ethnic groups that aren't black people I just want the best actors being picked because of their talent and being suitable for the role not their skin color.

i only care because the sjw made me care. im totally fine with these roles being cast the way they look in the comic. i want batgirl to look like batgirl and i want domino to look like domino. if hollywood is going to pander to the sjw then they better represent everyone. f- them, they want to make everything about race, ok then, wheres my representation, give me brazilian batgirl then

I haven't seen the finale yet but I detected nothing in what I've seen so far this season. He's best buds with Silver, I dunno, was I supposed to read more into that?
And I don't remember him verbally making reference to his homosexuality - it's possible I missed it though as I'm often posting on here at the same time as watching these shows.
